Shalimar...what a beautiful name! I immediately think of Marlene Dietrich as a golden harem lady in "Kismet". Of wonderful, bright colors. Of coins jingling on the hips of belly dancers. And, of course, of a fragrance hovering over everything, for us Europeans the epitome of the Orient.

Well, so far so good. Unfortunately, Shalimar is exactly all this for me not. Even after repeated testing of the Eau de Toilettes I found it just - I'm really sorry, but I can not describe it differently - repulsive. What should be so great about it, please? But I don't give up that easily. Then I got the tip of a dear perfumer to test the Eau de Cologne. Well, and that's what I've been doing for two days now. I have to say, it's definitely more wearable, but the magic still doesn't open up to me. All I can detect is a slightly musty powderiness. I can guess that there's more underneath, but unfortunately can't make out what. Nevertheless, I have to sniff again and again and have already re-sprayed several times.

My conclusion: still I can not understand the love for this fragrance, he remains but definitely well packed, cool and dark stored in my care. And when I next time "Kismet" look I get him out again, and who knows ...
