Vanilla Planifolia 21- about unnecessary expenses and a sick bunny
An excerpt from my blog article...if you want to understand the meaning of the headline you have to go to my blog article ;-)

...
Long story short...I am the proud owner of Vanille Planifolia 21.
What does the fragrance smell like? Like a lot of money spent...and spicy candlelight!

I find the scent difficult to describe...(also due to the fact that I've hardly been speaking German for years...let alone writing it ;-))
This is not my typical favorite vanilla...i.e. a spicy-woody, rum-soaked vanilla bean.
When I smell Vanilla Planifolia, my impressions are more visual and tactile. Golden candlelight, a load of spices, a viscous flow of vanilla cream, a golden velvet scarf... The fragrance is simply linear and yet multi-faceted. Sometimes I find it smoky and spicy...but mostly soft, creamy, balsamic, buttery and vanilla-sweet...without drowning me in its sweetness.
I also detect something powdery and waxy. There is also the image of the candle. It makes me think of Diptyque's Vanilla candle. I love this candle. It is very spicy and yet also creamy and soft. Very enveloping and calming...like this extrait. The sillage of the perfume is by no means expansive. The fragrance wafts very close to the skin. But for hours. Just like an extrait.

When I wear Vanille Planifolia, I feel protected... safe from this sometimes terrible world. The perfume envelops me like a delicate veil and yet also a thick velvet scarf. I feel wrapped up in a tamed vanilla orchid with long vines. But never overwhelmed. The fragrance also has the decency to retreat...only to suddenly appear out of nowhere with thunder and noise like an opera diva. Fiery and wildly warmed by my skin, it sometimes wakes me up at night. And then it has nothing innocent, linear or even simple about it. And that's exactly what I love about this fragrance. Its apparent simplicity during the day and its deeper complexity late at night. Then it also resembles the vanilla fragrances I love. Mona di Orio's Vanille and the earlier version of Guerlain's Spiritueuse Double Vanille when it was dark, rich, spicy and slightly wicked.

So it also becomes the fragrance that transports me to higher planes or dreamlike realms...just as perfume means fantasy and imaginary journeys to me. A rich inner world full of discoveries, adventures and pleasures. And when the dream comes to an end, a faint whiff of scraped vanilla pod lingers in my hair...and I start to indulge again...and want to dream on.
And so I can cope a little better with the large sums I had to spend on him...
