A really great fragrance from forgotten times....
I must confess, I personally do not understand such a low rating for this dreamy fragrance. Of course, everything is subjective. My subjective attitude to the fragrance I have already disclosed - dreamlike!
I'm not a big rose fragrance fan, but here I find this accord necessary to let it shine so. The blood orange and saffron underline the rose so tangy-juicy and spicy, that is already brilliant. The fragrance gets depth and weight from the patchouli and the leather. The leather, however, keeps a very low profile. The fragrance lasts on my skin up to 9 hours and is certainly 6 hours also perceptible by my environment.
The fragrance seems as if it was created FOR earlier times. Or at least IN earlier times were created. Where the man still had to be scratchy and dirty, but allowed himself tangy blood orange juice and brought roses to his sweetheart, because there was also a little cavalier in him. He stands to be masculine, but also modern.

(Love) at the 5 Smell
I try to take me now and then but the time (if I find this!?) to share my impressions with the great Parfumo community.
Ahead, I have yet treated myself to one or the other oud oil and can say that all differ from each other. From wood to cowshed you can find everything.
Now to the Oud Wood. Yes the name says a lot about the fragrance. It is about Oud and Wood. Where the sandalwood for me the part of the Woods takes over. From the first spray, the "Oud" comes to the fore in the nose, but accompanied by cardamom (heavenly mixture!). This blend stays on my nose for a long time. Then vetiver creepily joins in, making it seem slightly smoky. The creamy-woody conclusion is determined by sweet amber, sandalwood and subtle tonka bean.
All in all, yet a very successful fragrance.
But the durability is unfortunately not fair to the fragrance.
I had truly wondered after the first sample, why Oud Wood receives so much recognition? The fragrance wandered far to the back. However, I had him after 2 months again brought out and tested several times. After the total of 5th wearing I had to get me then but a flacon.
Just a (love) on the 5 Riecher. Because he is already really good. At least for 5 hours, then he says goodbye until the next application.

Hero Status
What more can be said about the TL. Everything has already been said. It is a masterpiece.
The raspberry freshens from the beginning of the otherwise very heavy fragrance something. Saffron umd thyme create a great spiciness. (Jasmine makes it creamier.....sagen we halt times so, pretty the fragrance in any case).
Amber comes along very pleasant. However, what is always present, who would have thought it is this heavy leather. Yummy. Oh well, it should also not be forgotten about the incense.
For me, truly not unisex. Masculine it wants to be, masculine it is. But if I may smell it on the road it is the same to me on whom. Also gladly on a lady. Smell I want him in any case over and over again. Simply ingenious. It is almost perfect in my eyes. The durability is very strong and the projection as well.
There is simply no negative criticism.
Thank you very much Mister Ford

Wonderful fragrance
To write a review of this fragrance is insanely difficult for me, because the fragrance has done it to me from the first moment. He has immediately conquered my heart and my nose. However, this also means that I will not objectively but very subjectively approach the matter.
I do not want to hold a long lecture but actually go explicitly to the fragrance.
The fragrance reveals its fragrance character right at the beginning and this does not really change much. However, this is to my knowledge with all Penhaligon's Portraits so. They are all very linear. Right from the start, the brandy comes out and is immediately underpinned by a very noticeable soapiness. It is soon joined by the tonka bean as well. There's not much more to it, but in my opinion there doesn't need to be, as the scent is so brilliantly composed that I can only say chapeau. He has conquered me and I never let him go again.
I don't know if I will ever own a more beautiful bottle. So far, he is simply by far the most beautiful of my collection.
Only the durability could be significantly better. But about the day he still accompanies me.

Manageable shelf life....
I would love to give this wonderful scent a 9 or more all around because it just smells great. It is and remains linear from start to finish. And that's where the worm is in it.... The ending. It comes way too early.
The fragrance itself is a blast. Oud comes out beautifully, joined by lovely musk and vanilla, making it a bit creamy. Nutmeg comes out very nicely - beautifully spicy slightly sweet (I like coriander and nutmeg insanely). Patchouli and cedar is not apparent to my nose. However, I like the fragrance as it is.
I don't like fragrances with strong projection, so what I like about the fragrance is that it doesn't radiate very strongly. For many, he will probably be too subtle.
However, the durability is unfortunately a bad joke. There, I said it. And to have to preface this sentence hurts so away, because the fragrance DNA is simply brilliant.
