Corpus Christi
... vs. ukiyoe - two different cultures, one fragrance ...
When testing (at first without looking at the scent pyramid) my spontaneous association was "Corpus Christi".
This catholic holiday, which follows Easter, usually falls in June - that is, in late spring/early summer. When I was a child, the church holidays had a different meaning than today - so also Corpus Christi, the procession with "sky" and flags was richly decorated with floral ornaments, children sprinkled petals along the way. These were flowers from their own gardens, busy women gathered what there was the night before and tied wreaths and bouquets. During the procession itself one passed by flowering lime trees, summer jasmine bushes etc.
Usually the iris also blooms at this time and is also used as a floral decoration.
Iris ukiyoe smells to me of this concentrated floralness and freshness, of the flowers of late spring and early summer; a little bit like iris blossom (iris flowers have a fragrance, not a strong one, but they do have a scent), but I smell many more flowers - including a restrained lily of the valley and a light lime blossom.
The fragrance is not heavy or too flowery, no - it smells natural and light, not only flowery, but also a little green.
Rose and orange blossom, which are indicated in the scent pyramid, I could not detect in the blind test, they were probably used very cautiously and together with the other ingredients give me this impression of the smell of late spring.
The fragrance is light, the Sillage also, durability with a few hours quite good.

Summer refreshment
According to Floris homepage, the fragrance was created in the late 18th century to make the heat of the city more bearable. Juan Floris, the perfumer has mastered this task excellently, because the fragrance is above all one thing: refreshing!!
Especially the prelude is a true freshness kick: so lemon-sour that you almost can't control your facial muscles anymore (this involuntary reaction, where it "pulls everything together"). This fresh boost does not take long, only a few minutes.
What follows is very gentle, already refreshingly lemony, also slightly flowery-green (delicate lime blossom), ... but very discreet!
On myself I have the feeling that I can no longer perceive the scent after just one hour, but on my clothes I could still easily hear this discreet freshness the next day
My conclusion: a great summer fragrance that really refreshes and certainly doesn't bother anybody due to the barely existing Sillage (from the heart note).

Lavender?
To this smell I had a completely different conception ... and he disappointed me nevertheless somehow with the testing.
I find the prelude medical and it reminds me of ... hmmm ... after a few moments it dawns on me: I smelled the essential oil of lavender directly on a vial, so not on booming lavender in nature, but concentrated as essential oil.
I suspect the sage (and the carrot seeds?) in combination with the other scents is responsible for this impression. This lavender impression remains already ~ one hour, it changes within this hour more to sage. After that I find the fragrance primarily herbaceous-spicy-herbal on me, the iris only appears after about 3 hours timidly and not powdery.
The name actually fits quite well - I was wondering which colour fits to the fragrance and which silver-coloured metallic colour fits. This iris is not green or brown and also not lavender violet (all other colors are further away).

Coconuts in the Waldviertel?
"The olfactory fragrance essence of the Waldviertel" - this is how the press release of the fragrance begins and it made me curious, as I was there for a few days in summer for a short vacation for many years. The Waldviertel is known for its cool climate ("cold and rough" according to wikipedia) and as the name suggests, you will find a lot of forest and meadows and hardly any industry.
I therefore expected a rather fresh, rather green, woody scent.

How does the fragrance essence of the Waldviertel? smell now?
In the top note I can smell the "young conifer shoots" (here in the fragrance pyramid only as coniferous woods indicated) - roughly like a fresh Advent wreath. I can't make out lavender and smell like "strawberry heather flowers", I don't know. The conifer shoots can only be smelled for a very short time (that's almost just a moment), then the heart note already opens up, it's hard for me to dröseln and describe them.
My association with it is sunscreen! ... And I wouldn't have expected that from a woodland scent. (There are ponds there and they are also used for bathing, but this is usually a rather fresh endeavour.) I would have rather associated this suncreaminess with typical (hot) beach holidays, probably the coconut is responsible for this impression. I perceive them quite clearly. The scent is of course more: I can smell the resin and the flowers as well - that must be the violets, because I don't discover lily of the valley.

The scent is not sweet, but not bitter either; it is not a light scent, but not a dark scent either - I would settle it in the middle. It also has a certain freshness in its (sun) creaminess. Comment of the teen kid at one of my fragrance tests: "Are you just coming out of the shower?"

Shelf life is quite good (the scent is perceptible all day long), Sillage is not overwhelming, but still more than close up.

Conclusion: I imagined the fragrance differently, but still find it successful!

(my first comment and also the first to W2)
