Shalimar - An ode to modernity
On "Shalimar Millésime Vanilla Planifolia | Guerlain" I was really extremely excited.
The original Shalimar, in my case the vintage extract, I got to know and love by a happy coincidence some time ago.
By my preference for vanilla fragrances and by the fact that "Shalimar Ode à la Vanille - Sur la route du Mexique | Guerlain" and "Shalimar Ode à la Vanille - Sur la route de Madagascar | Guerlain" are no longer available for some time or only at absolutely indisputable prices, I was now on the lookout and ordered practically the minute the fragrance was available here in Germany. And how clever that was, lol, because at the moment he is probably (temporarily?) Sold out.

The fragrance ... freshly sprayed on for about ten minutes I recognize quite clearly the Shalimar DNA, complete with flowers and bergamot, only much less offensively, and not in such an overwhelming rush as with the Eau de Parfum.
Then, however, until the fade, the vanilla takes the reins. A so fine vanilla that I become quite reverent.
Elegant, radiant, velvety, golden, spicy and a hint smoky. A fragrance like a noble cashmere scarf.

The grande dame is still a diva. Is self-confident and sovereign as ever. But she has put on a modern, young, exciting new garb. Graceful and beguiling and very unique.

The vanilla so, as only Guerlain can do it. Certainly not tame or undemanding pleasing. And certainly not generic in the sense of interchangeable.
Who wears Shalimar, makes a statement. And Shalimar Millésime Vanilla Planifolia is definitely a statement fragrance, too. Self-confident, peppy, fearless, ravishing.
Just like its wearer.

Vanilla superfine
Wow, what a fragrance!

About Vanille de Zanzibar I stumbled by chance on the research for vanilla fragrances. On my watch list he is, since I am registered here. Through the exchange with a dear Parfuma I now have the luck to own him.

The fragrance:
Vanilla it says, and vanilla you get. A lot of vanilla. But not only :-)
Immediately upon spraying on, a wonderful, lush, sweet, very spicy-vanilla scent unfolds. The sweetness here is not sugary, but of a comforting heaviness that lays gently and smoothly on the skin and nose.
With closed eyes (and a little imagination) I perceive a slight hint of fruit at the beginning, but it remains in the background, if present at all.
I think this very aromatic, slightly resinous spice is a bit of the jasmine, but mainly the Perubalsam to thank.
This is also attributed to anxiety-relieving, calming, stress-reducing properties; it is said to contribute to physical and mental well-being and inner serenity ... which makes the fragrance a perfect autumn and winter companion.
After all, many people dislike the darker and colder seasons. I can imagine that a cozy, warm feel-good scent like this one contributes a lot to harmony and better mood. Assuming, of course, that you like this scent. And for people like me, who really like autumn and winter, Vanille de Zanzibar is even more of a wonderful companion.

On my skin, no very differentiated scent develops. The spicy sweetness remains for a long time (five, six hours) and becomes steadily weaker and closer to the skin. Towards the end remains delicate, still vanilla musk. Patchouli and sandalwood I do not recognize, but these certainly make the base round and harmonious.

The bottle is a dream- Very simply held, but heavy and noble by the grooves in the glass, with high-quality, heavy closure.

So who likes vanilla with a certain something, and not just "sweet", the Vanille de Zanzibar should definitely test.

La Sublime
Aura Sublime ... the sublime, the magnificent aura.

As a self-professed vanilla lover, always on the lookout for the ultimate vanilla scent, I kept stumbling across this. Words like lemon vanilla cupcakes and lemon clouds made my ears prick up.

This scent was a real surprise for me. With bergamot and lemon as top notes, you automatically expect a citrusy-fresh, maybe a little tart, breezy-cool opening.

This is not so.

Aura Sublime is a remarkable, quite extraordinary, wonderfully vanilla lemon scent. The lemon is not at all fresh here (meant in the most positive sense), but unfolds a plump, juicy lush southern sweetness that literally makes your mouth water.
From the beginning, I perceive vanilla, but at this point, the lemon is clearly in the foreground.

As it progresses, this prominent lemon slowly and gently weakens more and more. A creamy, deep golden vanilla comes to the fore ... now comes the time when, for me, the fragrance transforms and becomes a deliciously lemony vanilla scent - rounded out by tonka and iris, and gently picked up by a warm, graceful base of fine woods, amber and benzoin.

The longevity is in a good, medium range; after about six hours, I only notice it right on my wrist, and after seven hours, I pretty much don't.
The sillage is moderate, maybe an arm's length, which is perfectly adequate for me.

For me, the perfumer has succeeded here a dreamlike composition. This is not the thousandth citrus fragrance with a bit of vanilla in the base, but a very unique, elegant and graceful creation.

A fragrance that brings sunshine into gray days, and can make you happy!

Pure beauty
I love vanilla scents, I could die for beautiful vanilla. Over the years, of course, I have found that there is THE ultimate (vanilla) fragrance, the life fragrance, so to speak, does not exist, I have not found him ... but some, which, in their own way, come very close to the ideal, and I love hot and hearty.

Among these is definitely Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain. SDV is not a fashion or hyped fragrance (it is probably too expensive for that), I certainly do not know anyone who smells like it. No, it is timeless, elegant, sophisticated. Always wearable, whether in a suit or in jeans and sneakers. And, except in the heat, quite also on summer days.

The first thing I notice when spraying on, is a clear, very appetizing rum note. Really a pity that really remains only 10 seconds, then it makes way for a pleasant vanilla.
After about ten minutes, a delicate, really beautiful and very coherent floral note unfolds, in which I smell out especially ylang ylang with a hint of jasmine. The rose is rather hidden, which I am not angry about. With rosy and generally very floral fragrances I have so my difficulties, that is me often very quickly too much, too pungent, too garish,
The florality here, however, is quiet, restrained, gentle. The vanilla is always in the foreground. A noble, soft, not at all sweet, absolutely unkitschy vanilla, wonderfully balanced with a fine spice (incense, pepper, benzoin?), which remains for a long time, for hours, and becomes very slowly closer to the skin. With a little imagination I sniff thereby also still very tenderly a little rum aroma, but only directly on the skin.

The sillage is certainly not room-filling (it does not have to be; I generally feel rather uncomfortable when my perfume screams miles in front and behind me "there I am / was"), but at arm's length well and super pleasantly perceptible.

The durability I find very okay, which is certainly 6-7 hours. My bottle comes according to Checkfresh from last year, just as info, since some complain here yes about reformulations and lack of durability compared to older batches. Of course, I have no comparison to this. Quite personally, I like but anyway no firecracker, the felt no longer disappear, because I often change two or even three times a day the fragrance.

Spiritueuse Double Vanille is a fragrance that suits me, that complements me, that makes me feel good, that lifts my mood and that makes me happy. What more does one need?

Feel-good scent
A wonderfully delicate, fine, airy and very delicious vanilla scent. Vanilla sugary, but not sweet. That sounds like a contradiction, but is so. Not at all intrusive (or even somehow cheap), not even room-filling, rather the opposite. Close to the skin and a bit shy he is, but so beautiful!

And here it really is pure vanilla. The fragrance does not change over time - apart from the fact that it is unfortunately relatively quickly even weaker than at the beginning already. On clothing / fabric but already significantly longer perceptible than on (my) skin.
Definitely at work and every day wearable, if you like vanilla and just want to feel good, but not necessarily have to share his environment dran.

In the flacon I'm a bit ambivalent. De form appeals to me, straightforward and simple, but really noble. Thick glass, the lid of metal and heavy, no cheap plastic. The color though for me is, well, takes some getting used to, a strong purple. This color does not really reflect the contents for me.

This does not detract from my appreciation and sympathy but - an absolute feel-good fragrance for me!
