A thick, full rose perfume
The first thought that comes to my mind is "marmalade", the thick raspberry kind that clings to the spoon. Andy Tauer's "Une Rose Vermeille" has that same quality. The reason here is probably the 20% perfume concentration that makes this perfume immense and noticeable. There is nothing fluffy about it. Soft, fluffy, cloud-like is usually the type the perfume which I prefer. Now here, as I have the rollerball version, I just dab it on - behind the ears like perfume extrait used to be applied - and the scent can make a nice wake (sillage) nonetheless. The scent opens strong, leads over to a warm and full middle notes region, and dries down to something clean, probably citrus. I am surprised that citrus is at the end, but have no complaints.

CARON also has a few of these thick perfumes and is a point of reference to me.

Wear it daily if you go a quiet path ... it is NOT for jogging or exercise class.

Wear it proudly to a concert or a gala.

The bottle is non-descript and not worthy of such a nice and glamorous perfume. In another presentation - like housed in an ornate bottle and presented with a luscious advertising campaign, this could be a great seller. Now here we just have to rely on the workmanship of Andy Tauer who really knows how to put a scent together.

Only word of mouth can close the gap for this undiscovered gem.

The price is very reasonable for a niche product. Will I buy it? No need right now as the roller ball bottle is filled with a long lasting and sparingly applied product.

The best Rose of the Tauer Rose World.

I'm so in love
The perfume goes under Watch or Time for Love. No matter, it is a remarkable perfume and worth every penny. Actually it is very subtle but tenaciously long lasting. Easy on the trigger, please, or you will suffocate under a sweet spell. The sweetness is leaving rather soon and an incredibly soft aura remains. The tiniest amount sprayed will be noticed by your nose all day long, so I preferred to spray on the back.

I know straight away whether I like a perfume or not, and this one is waving "buy me, buy me". But with the generous decant of a fellow member, we shall see.

M. Micallef's scents tend to be opulent and come in beautifully crafted bottles. Really the perfume is then a collector's item of great luxury and I believe that this is planned.

The notes are as listed in the perfume profile and none of those stands out. Rather this perfume has a "soft cloud" quality. Subtle from morning to night. The next morning, still a unchanged aura remains and that is the mark of a great perfume.

The sillage can be loud if you overspray which I don't do. Wisely applied, a lingering subtle, very feminine aura is the pleasant companion.

That's it. Another gem of the niche world.

A synthetic smelling floral
Already when I put my nose to my sample (won in a raffle) I had the feeling I was not going to like it. That is how strong this floral scent smells. The notes of cyclamen, peony and heliotrope are not my favorites and usually scents containing those notes are scrubbers. This is the case here, too. The only soft feeling comes from a faint streak of musk. Which could be reminiscent of soft fluffy swan feathers, if one leans into dreaming romantic thoughts.

I just can't live with this perfume. Sorry.

A typical gift shop item
This perfume is so harmless and innocent that I really cannot say much about it other than it is pleasing. It smells like hand-milled expensive soap that you would put into your drawer.

I love it, however. You have to spray quite a lot before a soft cloud surrounds you and greets you at every movement. Then it holds, and slowly becomes a skin scent which lasts many hours.

The outside carton is very nice and holds a golden bottle. This makes a nice gift.

In today's market, it does not seem strong enough to make a statement.

Lovely, I say, a little "love letter". Old-fashioned, of good quality, and gentle. If a movie character were to wear this scent, it could be Melanie Hamilton in "Gone with the Wind".

(When I want a stronger Carnation note, my choice would be "En Avion" by Caron.)

Black Vanilla
When I think of Vanilla, kitchen vanilla comes first to my mind, and then baby powder. Something basically warm and comforting. Something to feel at home.

Over the years, I loved "Vanilla Fields" by Coty, tested "Tihota" by Induit, and now am experiencing "Black Flower", an enticing scent. What is special here in the approach is a sultry depth. Come closer, be with me, experience the passion.

Notes are just notes and you can read them listed on the Perfume Page.

Sillage is medium, longevity is good. The artistic concept is good and adorns the bottle.

This scent can make you dream ...
