Simple and complex as a Chopin's short prelude
Oh My God, what a lovely fragrance. Indeed, I have that feeling of meeting again an old acquaintance, so familiar and yet this is the first time I have GV in my hands. I know, the olde men/granddaddy smell some of us like to report immediately. Nevertheless, Guerlain Vetiver is just gorgeous, clean and above all, masculine. Maybe that's what what some people think/means of oldie smell, Masculinaty. The tabacco note is not that strog and most of the notes are so well blended that you think all is part of the vetiver itself. Now having them both I can say that the Extreme is in fact stronger and bolder than the original, more mature and less casual, although I wouldn't wear Vetiver Extreme in the evening, they seem to ask for daylight to shine throughout the day. I am extremely happy with my new vetiver bottle. It is worth the price and I am considering layering GV with Eau Sauvage Parfum for a more impact impression when the occasion asks for.

A very satisfying scent for men
I saw on Youtube someone saying that Guerlain Vetiver Extreme was for a 70, 80, 90 yo, and remembered that the experts say that there are only two kinds of fragrances: the good scents and the bad ones. If we shouldn't say that a scent is for women or men, how can one say it is for the very oldies? Is it not fashionable? What is fashion anyway? You are what you smell, smell well? I agree that there are scents with a juvenal, youth aura that suits, of course, young people. Also I agree that thare are time and place for everything under the Sun. But I cannot agree that a scent is good but only if you are over the rainbow and beoynd together with the mothballs. Guerlain Vetiver Extreme is my first vetiver, although vetiver is in almost everything under that same Sun. And for me it smells great, really wonderful. Walking to work I got winfss of it and I couldn't belelive it was me, my vetiver giving me that very satisfying smell that just makes one feel good with himself and the world, it was almost like the first ...time wearing a scent, for me and I am 50+. I suppose one could say that it is because I am almost getting there. A young profesional man can pull GVE off? Of couse he can, if he wants to be taken seriously. But that is only one of his choices and there are plenty of them. I think I don't need to say anything about notes for other serious reviewers have done that better than I ever could. Just a final thought I wear a scent for myselfself firstly and try not to offend the ones aroud me.

Comfort Bomb
My initial fear was Spicebomb being too strong and really for clubbing. But once I got a full bottle blinded I had a wonderful surprise. Spicebomb is not all that that hype talks about. It is sweet, but not too much. Reminds me of MKors for Men but nicer and more uptodate. The tabacco note resembles others like EdB, J Bogart pH, but again nicer and friendier and smoothier. There are some florals but very subdue and not feminine at all. Cinnamon and woods feel like DsQ2 Potion in the final phase. It is never loud, never too this, never too that. And most of all it is a comfortable scent. All seasons, too. Perhaps not for the hottest of days during daytime in the high Summer. But as the sprayer releases a sort of mist, it can be controlled enough to wear in the Summer, too. All in all, I couldn't be happier. And I will make a lot of use from my 150ml bottle.

To those who say it smells artificial, I desagree immensely. The quality of Spicebomb is what really puts it apart from all the other smell-alikes. Also, it is so classy I can't imagine it in a night club. Sorry.

For spiritual souls
Last night after I changed the bed sheets I looked for a bottle I haven't worn in a long time or have stopped weraing it completely to spray the sides of the pillow and have a good night sleep. And almost blindly I got Oscar for Men, the last bottle behind all others. As soon as the spray hit the sheets I was reminded of how gorgeous OfM is. It seems that I forgot all about it. The beautiful citrus and pepper opening made magnificent by the fur, so manly and yet so temple divine like, too. For me, Oscar for Men is about religion, temples, churches, Catholic churches, mass, rituals. The floral notes add a layer of delicate touch and is never feminine. The spices are warm and soft. But the best is yet to come. Incense and sandalwood complete the scene, and it is really holy. One feels like a high priest in an ancient ritual, with the offerings going up to the skies helped by the incense. Because of these images in my head it is difficult for me to wear Oscar for Men so often. I need to be in tune with it and the circunstance also. That's why it's been way, hidden. It does not belong to this material world. Oscar is a first class male scent and there aren't many of them anymore today. You may fint OfM sexy, but it's all cultural isseus.

For Men
What I really like about Encre Noir is its straight forwards character. It doesn't try to hide what it is, a simple mens's scent. Vetiver, woods and cypress make it difficult to imagine a woman wearing this, but who knows, and what if? For me Encre Noir is very similar to comme des garçons Wonderwood, perphaps EN is a little roughier and CdG's more natural and intense. Also, a good thing is that both can be worn in hot weather. They smell quite fresh in Summer cooler evenigs.

As with other Lalique bottles, Encre Noir looks great and sober, no excess in here, at all.
