Initial impressions-

At the opening, Incredibly similar to Mancera’s Hindu Kush, but without that aggressive chemical note that I dislike. A very mainstream take on oud, and I say that as a compliment not an insult. This is not geared toward those who seek super skanky authentic barnyard ouds, this is a sweet woody fragrance that just hints at smooth facets of oud, and I would definitely see being well received by the ladies. Looking at the pyramid, I can pick out the cardamom and vanilla, with saffron, oud and others providing just enough masculinity to balance. Could easily be worn by anyone who likes pleasant, sweet, and slightly woody fragrances. Definitely unisex.

I’ll start off by saying that Iris feels like one of the most prominent aspects of this fragrance, which carries through to the end. I would say the top 3 accords would be more like powdery iris woods, and by woods I specifically mean just sandalwood, especially its creamy facets. The other notes are present only partially and in supporting angles, such as the back of the nose brightness that I feel is present from the frankincense, but not the lemony front side that is usually involved.

There is a bit of depth to the creamy, but light iris feel from everything else involved, but it’s fairly linear and not as usual of a heavy hitter performance wise that Amouage is typically known for. Definitely a pleasant and inoffensive scent, though not a screamer. I very much enjoy the serenity of the creamy iris, and the well blended supporting notes, but it seems to me to suddenly drop off and cease to exist, as if there are no basenotes when everything else fades away. I suppose I could be anosmic to whatever notes are at the end, but seems curious to me. It is the winter where I am testing and it makes me curious if this is more designed for hot, dry climates to really experience it as it should be.

The bottle and box are gorgeous, by the way, but I’m not sure it is as green feeling as the bottle portrays. As unisex as it gets.

Wow, this is something special indeed. I'm a big fan of the original pour homme, and this is related but not identical. Thankfully, my favorite part of the original is still present: the pine/fir-capsacin-and (of course) leather combo, but still different enough to justify both. Doesn't project as well as the original either, but is a thicker presence with a definite richness.


I would like to say the pour homme feels like a serious man on a set path in life of his own choosing, and the parfum is representative of his arrival in success.

Has a generally classy, and appropriate for the name, charcoal like feel overall but specifically opens with bergamot and Sichuan pepper then some vaguely familiar elements of the noir edt with the spices, ginger and cedar, although I really wouldn't say it's very similar to the others in the TF Noir line. Feels like the dark wood and sandalwood just slightly tempers the assertiveness of the fragrance overall, but just enough to be well rounded. It is also very linear with the exception of the fleeting bergamot and ginger in the beginning, but I'm glad because I really enjoy what remains. If I had to describe it only by a few notes, I would say its mainly Sichuan pepper, cedar, and spices. Not sweet at all, and definitely more of a mature masculine fragrance than the other TF Noirs, which I personally found to be very sweet and borderline unisex.

Performs fairly well and has decent longevity, I had a spray on my arm from the tester at the store and kept getting wafts from it hours later. Enjoyed it so much, I ended up going back in the evening and buying a bottle.

I think this one gets a bad rap because it has similarities to sauvage but doesn't just smell exactly like it. So Imo, the people who hate Sauvage don't like this, and the people who are Sauvage fans dont seem to like it because its not Sauvage. I do not care for Sauvage myself, but I am a big fan of the Bvlgari aqva line and this stuff smells great. Also the wife doesnt care for Sauvage either (Said it just smells like soap), but thought this "actually smells really nice". To me, it has more going on than Sauvage, with the aquatic and melange of basenotes going really well with that Ambrox.

I mostly get a bright citrus, but with depth, blended well with the aquatic ambroxan which really does feel kind of oceanic overall. It is more sweet than Aqva Amara, and not as heavy but definitely still performs well. I don't get the seaweed vibe from this that the original Aqva has, which I actually really enjoyed but understand it can be polarizing, and it also doesnt have that bitter frankincense from Amara, that again i personally like, but some do not. I dont mind if its not a hit in the fragrance community, it just means the price will go down and everyone else wont smell like it. I really like this release, maybe more so than Aqva Amara, depending on the weather, I can see using this on the hottest and most humid of days without reservation, where maybe the Amara could be a bit much in that scenario. If you like the Aqva line but want something not as heavy, check this one out.
