Great Green Aquatic
This is a great cheapie you should be able to grab very easily online or at discount stores, and well worth the $20(USD) or so It goes for. It is a very pleasant green aquatic with some herbs and melon notes to strengthen and add depth to the aquatic feel. The mental picture I associate with this is a refreshing overgrown green lagoon on a hot day.

I cant speak for all women, but my wife loves this so much that when she smelled it in the store she insisted I buy it so she could smell it on me. I won't quote what she said when she sniffed it, but I'll just say it makes her excited ;).

Performance is also impressive for the price- projects well even with only one spray, and lasts a decent amount of time too. If you like the genre, but are looking for something different that won't break the bank, I recommend this.

Underrated Gucci
This one gets much hate, undeservedly so, in my opinion. I feel the mistake many make is to use the same measuring stick to judge all fragrances. Not every scent should be noticed from across the room, or be expected to last over 8 hours- Subtlety is sexier than being overt and in your face. That being said, I think this performs fine, on par with most fragrances. If you look on the other site, there are many unsolicited reviews from women also for this, so I feel this needs more accurate representation on this site also. Yes, the one review here is from a woman, and she is entitled to her opinion, but I would like to share the fact that others do indeed enjoy this Gucci. In fact, most of them say it is indeed sexy and mysterious, check for yourself.

So, anyway, this is a nice tobacco-violet based scent with the cypress providing the interesting nose tickle in the similar vein as aquatics do. It isn't the most favorite in my collection, but puts a smile on my face whenever I sniff it, and I think more folks should give it a try. Also, the bottle itself is handsome, a timeless classic in its shape and feel.

Dry Smokey Oud
Initial Impression short review

Very dark, smokey, and dry. Don't be fooled by the sweet notes of vanilla, praline, etc., I feel there is just barely enough of those notes to not be offensively bitter and acrid. This is slightly bitter and acrid, but in a good 'sat close to a bonfire' way. The beginning brings a very rubbery oud, which gives way to the main smokeyness- perhaps they are going for burning/burnt oud feel? Maybe someone more familar with that could tell me if that's accurate, but I really enjoy it anyhow.

In comparison, I had bought Amouage Interlude for the smokeyness, but it was too sweet, so I sold it. I am not saying they smell anything alike, but I much prefer this dry smokiness to the overly sweet oppoponax of Interlude. Performance also is nowhere near the Amouage, obviously, but decent for the $30-ish that I paid.

Edit: After a while the sweet notes cone out to play, but only slightly and definitely not cloying. More like a smoked plum feel, without being excessively opulent. Highly recommended, but not for everyone.

Very Pleasant Everyday Oud
Just tried it and I get a bunch of frankincense-oud with leather and resins. I think it's really nice and actually prefer it to Versace Oud Noir. I think the Versace is too soapy, and this is a bit darker but not heavy. Initial impression is very good, I could see wearing this often. It is different from most, it has a slight warmth from the resins, and it is well blended. I am getting great sillage, fairly strong at arms length, but just lovely. It has a nice powdery oud, which is smooth and elegant. I am quite pleased with this.

While I appreciate input and opinions, I am very glad I blind bought this, despite suggestions to the contrary. It may not be groundbreaking, but it is pleasant, a bit mysterious, and different. I don't know much about synthetics, but it smells nice, thats all I know, or care about.

Initial impressions

Scent - 9.5
Sillage - 8.5
Longevity- 8.5 (8-12 hours)
Bottle - 9.5 - that doorknocker cap is so damn pleasing

Will fit nicely in my top 3 with Montale Greyland and Bentley Absolute.

Serious And Masculine
Got a sample based upon a fellow fragr's suggestion as an upgrade to Bentley Absolute and DAMN!

I have enjoyed every whiff I get from this. I love this on myself, and it is very masculine, but being it is unisex, this could be incredibly sexy on the right woman. I've picked up on different facets of it but it is mostly linear. Usually that great piquant Cedar-Pepper-Vetiver combo, but sometimes I get a beautifully smooth Leather-Sandlewood note. Halfway through my sample, and I want a big bottle. This shit is straight sexy sexy sex sex. Sweaty, Raw, and Dark. But also Serious. Because Greyland has a very serious feel. I think these two things are what turns people off, and that's ok with me.

My only- and I mean only- gripe is performance. Granted, a big part of a fragrance is how easily you can smell it and for how long, but I am willing to look past the fact that it's pretty much just a skin scent that lasts for 6 hours or so.

The first time I experienced this was a sample I got and admittedly didnt expect much because looking at the pyramid, everything seemed... Ordinary? I know how that sounds, but nothing jumped out at me. But damn if this isn't an example of not always (ever?) being able to judge by reading notes. That first experience, I wore it in the evening and gave it my full attention, and was blown away. It has a very similar opening to Bentley Absolute and Gucci Pour Homme I, with that peppery cedar wood, but also kind of body sweat, note. It is pretty much this for most of the time, and not much projection. But it is so very good.

If you like GPH1 or Bentley Absolute, it's like they had a sexy sweaty baby and named it 'Greyland'.
