What have I been waiting for the Baccarat Rouge 540 bottling... I've been dying to try it so I could add my crush mustard too.

Finally the bottling arrived - after two loooong days of waiting (anyone who waits for anything knows how long two days can feel).

I sprayed. And sprayed. And sprayed.... Yes... the 3ml was now almost empty and I smell nothing. Oh wait a minute! A whiff of dentist's office - or is it? Yes, there is - a little! Very subtle.
But wait, where's that sweetness everyone's talking about? What the heck is THAT???

My husband: "puuhhhh... he's cute but well I don't know about that" and puckers his muzzle.

A strange specimen

Oh Angie... with your wonderful sensual coat of vanilla. It must be love... you are so mysterious. You come along with a bouquet of freshly picked Angelica and the closer you get and the longer you stay, the more you show me of your special, romantic vanilla. You are heaven-sent! Or just Guerlain - it's the same thing.

Guerlain has created a masterpiece. This perfume is the best perfume in the world (no joke - try it yourself!). A lady of the community here, was so kind and sent me a bottling of the noble drop.
I carried him no 30min out of the house, already I got compliments.
This perfume is a compliment magnet!

I love the opening with the fresh, somewhat dank, herbaceous angelica - in the background, the vanilla (that special Guerlain vanilla) is listening for when it finally makes its appearance.
The angelica disappears silently, quietly and in an elegant way, letting the vanilla take over. The light, super wearable vanilla with a subtle woodiness brings a little cream and accompanies you for the rest of the day. This perfume is an embrace of the angels.

I loved the old clean bottles visually. So elegant and no frills. The new flacons unfortunately do not please me personally. But true beauty comes from within.

PS: Dear Angie, if my husband knew you were so expensive, he would divorce me. However... I love you!

I wear this fragrance now for about 12 years and just can not get sick of it. The notes are soooo beautiful and harmonize just great together. Every day with Alien is something special.

I would like to share a story with you. A story that I associate with Alien, because this fragrance gave me the most beautiful and closest friendship ever.

It was a cold, rainy November day in 2010 and I was sitting with my then partner in a rather well-known burger joint / snack bar (you know what I mean) and I was wearing Alien. One table behind me sat a couple and I noticed that the lady had me in her sights. As we were leaving the restaurant, the eyes of me and the lady from the other table met. I stopped and she stood up, came closer, sniffed and said "I knew it was YOU wearing Alien!". That's how we got to talking and so we sat and chatted for hours after. The connection between us was as if we had known each other for years and there was a magic, a magic of a friendship that I never got to experience again. We saw each other almost every day and each of our meetings was unique and special, you could have such deep conversations and if you already talked about one thing a hundred times, it still didn't get boring. An unconditional, honest and indescribably close friendship. Some would say it was a soul friendship.
When I think back on it today, I get tears in my eyes... we've been out of contact for a few years now, unfortunately. She ended it abruptly and to this day I don't know why. I had never seen her since our last meeting when I visited her... but one thing will always connect us - Alien.

Edit: the reformulation of the Alien I personally consider successful. Probably many see it differently but I still finds wonderful and absolutely unique. Something softer, more floral - for many probably more pleasing.

This perfume is a journey.
A journey through the depths of vanilla with a well-dosed touch of floral notes and a youthful sweetness.

Let's start the journey at the beginning: from a noble, very special packaging, to a wonderfully elegant bottle, to a truly stunning spray head that sprays such an impressive mist.
The whole presentation of the packaging and the bottle is absolutely an experience! Which fascinated me but more than the fragrance itself.

The fragrance is too pappig sweet for me personally and the floral notes disturb me unfortunately in this fragrance very much. "A rose garden with Dr.Oetker vanilla aroma" would probably be a bit clumsy formulated but unfortunately it hits it pretty well. About 5 years ago, I would have loved this fragrance idolatrously but today I am unfortunately a little too mature for him

I don't know if I'll ever warm up to the Tobacco Vanilla anymore... one spray is almost overdose for me - it's already very very loud and something bothers me. Is it the moist tobacco? Is it the sweetness? Is it the vanilla? I don't know. No fragrance has ever gotten as many chances to win me over as Tobacco Vanilla.

I guess it does get another chance...

Maybe one day we fell in love..
