Leaving the forest for the coast line on a warm Spring day
This is my first experience with Imaginary Authors, but what a pleasant one it is!

Firstly, I have to say that I am a huge lover of green, aromatic green and fougere fragrances, so that is of course influencing my view of ESAS.

Every Storm a Serenade opens up with a pleasant whiff of the (Danish) spruce, vetiver and eucalyptus that gives a really warm and pleasant sensation. It's woody, dark and rich with a liquorice quality to it (probably from the vetiver and eucalyptus). In the background you can pick up the sea water note slightly that gives ESAS that feel of you being in a woody beach on the West coast of Denmark. However, this is very subtle and in the back, and I don't pick up on the calone or ambergris/ambroxan at all.

If you own Encre Noir by Lalique, you will quite possibly get the similarities with that and this one. The difference is that if Encre Noir is in the middle of a dark, damp, green and wooden forest, then Every Storm a Serenade is you leaving that forest and entering a coast line on either a warm Spring or Fall day. Being from Denmark myself, I can feel that mood that Imaginary Authors are trying to portray here.

The silage is not massive, so you will not bother anyone with this one, but will still be able to pick it up yourself. Longevity is on the average side with it lasting around the 6-7 hour mark. Silage and projection will most likely the stronger, the warmer the weather.

It's not the best office scent, but you would be able to wear it here too. However, I'd find it best suited for a day spend outside in the warmer side of Spring and Fall or on a cooler day of Summer. It most likely won't do well in the midst of Summer or the dead of Winter.

If you love vetiver, green or aromatic fragrances, or want a different take on Encre Noir, then definitely check out Every Storm a Serenade.

Aramis meats the Middle East
Shuhrah is an interesting underrated and hidden gem from Rasasi, especially considering the low price.

I'm almost tempted to call it a middle eastern Aramis or Aramis 900. It opens very sweet, but with an ashy touch to it (kind of like a light, rosy ashtray). Definitely has a mature touch to it.

It's hard too fully explain Shuhrah to someone that has never put their nose to it, but it definitely does not smell like La Yuqawam. It's very powerful, so going easy on the trigger is key unless you want to annoy people.

I think Shuhrah is a very unique scent out there and one that fragheads should at least experience. However, I would warn against blind buying this.

But if you like scents like Aramis and Aramis 900 but with a middle eastern twist, you'll probably find this one interesting

Acqua di Parmas Colonia Intensa take on oud, and what a great, unique way to do so!
This Opens up with a beautiful combination of oud, leather and citruses. You're hit with a fresh, warm and woody combination. The oud isn't skanky or barnyward oud, but very woody. The leather/wood/oud combination gives the same vibe you'll also find in Issay Miyake Noir Ambre. There is coriander as well that gives it a subtle, spicy touch and then musk rounds it off and also gives it a powdery and fresh touch.

I've seen people talk about this being a rose/oud combo, but I cannot detect any rose what so ever. This really isn't a rose/oud combo. Again you have the Colonia Intensa DNA with oud. This also means, that if you normally do not like oud fragrances, but want to get into ouds, this might be something worth trying.

Due to the fresh, musky feel to it, it can in theory be worn year round, but I wouldn't wear this on hot days.

This is also something to go easy on the trigger with. One or two sprays on the chest will last you all day and you will be able to smell it for 10-12 hours easily with few sprays. Silage is also very decent, so be mindful not to choke people out.

Age-range is probably a bit more mature, but again due to the freshness and powdery, I could see someone in their 20s wearing this.

I would advise against blind buying, but if you love ouds, do check this one out! 8/10 as oud fragrances go.

A must have for the Vetiver lover
I'm a huge fan of vetiver, so when I first heard about this and having tried the Amber Essence, I knew I had to own it.

Essence No. 6 Vetiver opens with a sharp, dry green feel of the haitian vetiver and the javanese vetiver oil. The opening also features bergamot and grape, but these are a bit more subdued, so you don't get a fresh citrus feel that say Tom Ford Grey Vetiver would give you. The cloves and papyrus helps add a green, fresher and mature feel to this one as well.

Compared to Guerlain Vetiver with is a lot darker and maybe more muddy, this is more subdued fresher, greener and cuts more sharp. Imagine a cross between Guerlain Vetiver and Grey Vetiver dressed up. If Encre Noir is vetiver on a dark, damp autumn night, then Essence No.6 is Vetiver on a crisp, Spring morning.

The silage is not huge, but it's also not a skin scent, so it's perfect for the office or more formal. The scent definitely also have a more mature feel to it, and people younger than 25-30 would probably not find it that appealing.

Spraying it on my chest, neck and behind the ears I can easily smell it on myself throughout a work day and at least 8-10 hours on my skin. I assume more if sprayed on clothes.

In summary Essence No. 6 Vetiver by Elie Saab and designed by Francis Kurkdjian is an amazing Vetiver fragrance and well worth checking out if you love the note. If you are looking for a supplement to Grey Vetiver this it it.
