Dior Feve Delicieuse vs. Mitzah

image

Dior's La Collection Privee has some real beauties in it. I've sampled most of them and found my favorite to be Oud Ispahan. However, Ambre Nuit, Mitzah and now Feve Delicieuse are also superbly done and masterfully blended. Mitzah, a rich amber and wood fragrance, has sadly been discontinued. The recently released Feve Delicieuse can easily take its place.

Mitzah was all about smoke and amber. It was very similar to the eternal Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens. There is the same smoke and woodiness while at the same time Mitzah maintained a little bit of a mustier personality. I mean musty in the best of ways: an oudy, dirty smell. It is all about the spices: coriander, cinnamon and patchouli. And lots and lots of smoke.

Feve Delicieuse relies more on feminine notes such as vanilla and tonka, which give Feve a sweeter vibe. The opening has a slight licorice note but it is well blended with the other notes, creating a most gourmand of scents. There is cocoa and praline influences which make Feve a moist and chewy scent.

In terms of substitution, you won't get the lovely smoke of Mitzah from Feve. You will, however, get the same spice-laden character plus the more gourmand sweets that accompany the woody base. Longevity, sillage and price are the same for both.
