Pink Gourmand

The epitome of gourmandness, Gourmand Coquin has so many admirers out there that it is hard to believe that almost no one dislikes this perfume. Even though I dislike the name (and the message behind it: a woman-child at play), the scent itself is one of those perfumes that lead a life of their own. It is not that GC smells like nothing else, nor is it terribly complex in the way of the old days. The truth is that it is so easy to wear, so well-blended and creates such an amazing feeling in the wearer that GC must be considered a great perfume.

Now, is it worth its incredible pricetag? That is debatable. Sure, there are those of us who love it that pine for it for years and order multiple samples in order to gorge on its beauty. The bottle is classic Guerlain: thick glass, beautiful detail and French charm. The quality is impeccable. The longevity is long and languid while the sillage wafts up at you throughout the day and even after a night. Does the smell of honey rum, vanilla and chocolate deserve the pricetag of $260? I don’t know.

I do know that GC transforms everything: the mood, the day and the wearer. I find myself longing to be the kind of woman who wears matching underthings and perfumes them with lingerie water. I can see this perfume being suitable for office and a beautiful night; a vacation in paradise as well as a cold cozy day.

The bottom line is that Gourmand Coquin is a stupendously beautiful and addictive perfume. My love for it has never diminished even as I found many more loves in between.
