Scentility

So this little glam number is what I wore yesterday when the weather here suddenly got into the 70 s for a day. The sun was shining, the gentle breeze was blowing and girls put on summer dresses and sandals. I put this on, and it’s like it was made for this moment in time. Don’t let anyone talk you out of wearing this perfume! It’s a simply gorgeous, flirty, fun, carefree and happy scent perfect for that summer day when going to a park or on a date. Gardenia, honeysuckle and pralines with a little orange and berries translates into an instant romantic uplift. I only have a 15 ml bottle that I purchased this winter, and it didn’t impress me enough then. But now that we are transitioning into the summer, this really shines! The mood this fits is The Beach Boys, the straw hat and strappy sandals. Put this on and let them eat cake, if they dare! :)

It has been quite a journey since some time last year when I started my perfume obsession. I have always loved perfume, but always limited myself to one or two scents per year. I suppose the combination of the stresses this last year especially really pushed me forward towards exploring aromatherapy. Recently I was on the search for a retro looking bottle with a puffer, and I discovered Tabu Rose by Dana. The bottle is absolutely adorable with a pink rose silk flower on top. It was very affordable because it’s discontinued and still available for sale. I am glad I discovered it and bought it, but as far as perfume itself goes it is extremely soft. I think the scent itself is lovely, it’s fairly simple and very pretty. If I could give it a color, it would be a light pink rose. It does smell like a real Rose, but it’s a faint gentle smell that quickly becomes a skin scent with close to none projection. However, I would give it points for a rather catchy name and a retro bottle look. I also think this perfume might be perfect as a gift for a teen or a young girl. For me, it lacks sophistication and longevity for a fresh pink rose scent to work.

A quick review: heard this is similar to Chance Au Tendre. It’s not. It’s a pretty average scent in a very spectacular bottle. Opens like a whole crate of fresh lemons in a market. Very strong citrus blust. Then moves later after some time to freesia jasmin territory. It’s not very powdery. I mainly smell strong lemony citrus and freshness. Does not last very long at all. 1 -2 hours tops. Projection is also rather soft. I hope it’s going to provide some of that lemony freshness in the summer. It’s okay, but nothing amazing. Lacks subtle nuances and longevity.

As I am currently on a Spring scent kind of discovery journey, my current favorite for Spring is My Way. I crave florals and citrusy scents in Spring. This one is a definite floral. It’s all about the tuberose. Orange blossom plays a second violin and blends spectacularly well with tuberose- the main note here featured prominently. To me it smells almost aromatic, as if I can smell some spice here along the lines of cardamom, but it could just be how tuberose smells. It’s not very sweet and does not need it. The bottle is exquisitely pretty with a cobalt blue precious stone like top and a pink colored liquid inside. The two colors together look very original and very enticing but elegant. It’s a very elegant perfume, and you could wear it to a wedding, if you wished, or to a fairy party for tea and magical dessert:) It’s a daytime scent for me. It’s sophisticated but innocent at the same time. A really great recent designer release in my opinion. Sometimes you don’t want some weird combination of notes and this sophisticated elegant simplicity is exactly what makes you feel so pretty and also uplifted.

My oh my! What an underrated little gem this is! It’s a hit this time for me! The best blind purchase this year so far. This is a perfect Spring/summer scent that also comes in a very beautiful bottle, has pineapple in it and is so fun and uplifting even joyful all around! My initial impression here is like this song Love is all around. I am so glad I decided to buy it. It’s so inexpensive comparatively speaking. I so need it especially now in my life. It also brings some good memories for me, as generally I really like Jennifer Lopez and I knew a lot of Hispanic people, especially from Puerto Rico. It makes me think of a tropical climate, pineapple cocktail, salsa dancing and sunny walks on the beach. If that is not exciting, what is in a northern climate like the one I live in now. The bottle colors remind me of a rainbow fluorite stone, one of the most pretty natural stones out there. In terms of the notes, I definitely smell pineapple, peony and it is sweet, but not in a cloying way at all. I can’t say yet much about projection, longevity, etc. It does not seem to be weak or disappearing kind of fragrance. All in all, I need the positive life affirming message this perfume carries in my life right now.
