Scentility

Just got this perfume. It’s an EDT. Was a blind purchase, and my first impression: underwhelmed. Not exactly what I was hoping for at all. My recommendation so far? Do not blind buy this one. I was hoping for a prominent lilac note, but this is not the case here. At first you get a blast of flowers that are nondescript and a tiny little note of lilac that you mainly imagine smelling. Then, it settles into a hand cream sort of smell. More like Nivea rather than Body Works style. With it then you are stuck. If anyone wishes to smell like a hand cream, then this is just heaven. Feel very frustrated with my purchase. Guess where I got this perfume recommendation from initially? YouTube. Is it good for Spring? Sure. Every day? Sure. Sitting in my drawer in the dark? Sure. Maybe My Name is better than this one. It’s bound to be. Also, it said in the description it’s powdery. Nope, it is not. Unless you like baby powder like or cheap soapy powder scents. All in all, it’s floraly abysmal. Alas! My search continues.
P.S. I have tried it more in my skin. Here is my final opinion on this: I guess, it could work for a summer day. But the less you spray the better actually. It has minimal projection and with just a couple of spritz it will be kind of pleasant nondescript eau de toilette fragrance. And the bottle at least is nice to look at. I can use it on a rushed kind of day when I want to smell like lotion powder.

Out of all the flankers this one is the most beautiful. From the stunning burgundy colored gem cut bottle with the bow to the perfume inside- it’s a masterpiece. The main character in here is the rose of course. But this rose is a true princess here. It shines like nowhere else I have seen accompanied by the masterfully blended accord of addicting black currant, lovely raspberry, sparkling bergamot and mysterious datura flower. The dry down is sheer sexiness with very smooth patchouli, musk and cashmeran. I wore it several times for everyday, but when I put on my new little black dress on and turned on the romantic music, I realized this perfume fits perfectly. It’s made for an evening out. Some perfumes just should be special like that. You can wear it everyday of course, but it’s just made for a grander time. I could not believe how good it smelled and I just couldn’t stop smelling it on myself like an addict. I hope it stays in production because it would be a true heartbreak to lose this Rose gem. As I mentioned before in my statement, it befits true hopeless romantics. What season is it? I think it’s very versatile from winter to spring to summer nights. You can pull it off anytime, but for everyday I would probably choose the original Mon Paris or Mon Paris Floral. Although for now, I personally will prefer this one. The original Mon Paris is more about the raspberry florals and patchouli. In this one, raspberry is beautifully blended and Rose is at the center. A gorgeous fragrance that I like much better than Midnight Rose by Lancôme for sure.

Spring is almost in the air this week in March and I finally reached for the gorgeous green bottle of Gardenia perfume. I put it on and I am sitting in a relaxing glow of the waxy white petals and southern tree vibes. It’s one of the most realistic true gardenia perfumes I have tried and I am not trading it for any that are more expensive. It’s my secret and a true emerald gem and a steal. I smell a mix of magnolia and gardenia blooms when I put it on. It’s magical and uplifting. It takes you to the faraway lands of the enchanting forest of Lothlorien and you smell elven - perhaps how Lady Galadriel herself might.

Been on a rose kick lately. Got a sample of this Dolce darling. And oh well, it’s another disappointment. Glad it’s just a sample. It’s not completely terrible, it’s just kind of generic and a little bit nauseating. It’s marketed as aquatic and I think it’s water lily here that represents the water. It’s a very synthetic note in perfume to my nose. It smells like a very squeaky clean detergent y like ingredient. So that mixed with rose equals a sharp clean synthetic rose with a musky dry down. Not sure what amaryllis smells like for that matter. Sounds a little suspect to me. I am determined to find one of these Dolce pretty bottles for the summer. I hope I will find a good one in the end. But for sure, you would be better off without this one.

Pretty upset with this perfume after buying it blind. I looked at the raving reviews on Fragrantica and they all said it’s very pretty and is possibly a dupe for Delina. I was so glad when I found on at TJmaxx for a great discount price. After I sprayed it the top notes smelled so lovely that I got excited and patted myself on the back. But wait! Next it changed and then I smelled what I can only describe as a strange sort of dry mushroomy root like substance. I kid you not! It smelled like floral dry mushrooms on my skin. Very upsetting. Am I the only one who feels this way. I don’t know. I see it a lot in online reviews and it is never disliked really. If Delina smelled like dried mushrooms I don’t think it would be so popular. I might try it again though I am going to attempt to return this. I think the middle note should actually be orris which is a root, not an iris. Possibly that’s what my skin picked up on. Possibly the scent was damaged or expired. I found few negative reviews among the general hyped up reception but some people said it smelled dirty musty and too strong on patchouli. Yes, dirty and musty but not because of patchouli I think. I actually love patchouli in perfume. I also tried perfume with pink pepper before that was very pretty indeed. It’s not that, it’s something else. Unless you composed this, you won’t know which ingredient it is that spoiled this for me. I would go to Very Irresistible by Givenchy or BVlgari Rose Essentielle for better and actually pretty pink rose type smells. All in all, if Delina ended up smelling like this on my skin, I would make more of an effort to learn more French to make a complaint call to the company.
