Scentility

My Burberry is a masterfully created good quality fragrance that has a very strong silage and is long lasting. It is a flowery powerhouse in my view with a very specific note that has been left out of the description here. I think it might be linen or leather? Not exactly sure. But it’s the note that gives it a very clean, sharp feeling that manages to convey the crispness of a camel colored trench. And it does smell like a beautiful Rose and I suppose geraniums are there and grass and it isn’t too sunny or playful at all. No sir! This one has a rather serious almost business like personality evoking big city, reserved character and office like settings to me. It is very feminine with a very edgy masculine note. I picture a confident independent lady in a power suit very stylish and polished, very together and not a hair out of place. It is very beautiful but not very touching. You know, like it’s almost too perfect. And that made it very hard for me to love it.

I recently purchased a small bottle of this perfume. Over the years I realized that perfume is just as much about the scent as it is about the memories or impressions attached to it. This particular one will always be very special to me. It was given to me by my husband for our first Christmas holidays spent together. I have repurchased it over the years on and off. Recently with so much uncertainty in the world and in my own life, I decided I had to get it again. I know there is a sea of different new and probably better perfumes out there, but I wanted to reach for something familiar. As if something as transient as a fragrance can be relied upon and used as a crutch... And it’s in the air and all of a sudden the colors change to soft pink, and it envelopes you like a loving hug and there was music and blooming white peonies are blossoming.... And the magic of the first Holidays, youth and love is back.I cuddle up with my fluffy cute cat on the couch. Pleasures... in the midst of many louder scents I find my peace and the innocence of simple delights.

Was in the mood for some heavier winter perfume, and so I rediscovered my Miss Dior eau de parfum in my drawer. And I think it might be just perfect for the winter holidays. It has a warm sweetness without being in the gourmand category that is lovely when it’s chilly outside. It’s flirty yet very elegant and perfect for the night out. I am not sure how everyone feels, but I discovered that certain scents are hard to wear when you are always at home, which has been the forte of many during the pandemic. But during the holidays, I think I can pull it off just around the house and on the walks outside. If you’re looking for great longevity, then this one certainly has it. It has a darker amber colored liquid inside, usually a sign of perfume’s potency. Even after I took my shower, it still was there. I think it would make a perfect gift for a lady, especially a romantic one, but does not have to be. I would go for the eau de toilette version if you want it to be an everyday kind of scent. With the eau de parfum, I sometimes got headaches especially if I only wear it inside the house. It has a more mature vibe. Although I don’t believe in the age classification. It has been compared to Mademoiselle Coco, and while it is different, I can see that comparison. If you liked Mademoiselle Coco, you would probably like Miss Dior and its flankers. It opens up with lemony mandarin and then quickly transitions into a darker Rose with a hint of musk. The dry down is sensuous and beautiful. This one has a femme fatale kind of vibe, very chic and flirty. In short, it’s a very classy perfume perfect for cold winter nights and romantic candle lit dinners with sparkling crystal around.
PS. I think I might have 2012 version of Miss Dior. If so, it is the best for anyone who loves patchouli. I know I do, and this fragrance does not disappoint. That calming comforting earthy patchouli is very strong. Perfect for warming my heart up at wintertime or anytime.

Chrome has always been my favorite for men. I know it is out of fashion now, but it smells very appealing. It’s been labeled as aquatic, but it’s actually more a citrusy aromatic cologne. It starts out with some lemony bergamot and then gets into some light spices like coriander and ends up oakmossy fresh with some woody undertones for added strength. It can easily be an office or business friendly scent, and just as easily a date night one as well. I think it especially can suit a more reserved, introverted personality.

I have to say that I didn’t like the original Amazing Grace much at all, and so I was surprised how much I actually appreciated this one. The opening is beautiful. It’s pure rose after the rain and you are transported to the summertime in the garden. The base notes are musky woods which gives it a sharper edge. On me it smelled like a rose scented lotion in the very end. I can still trace Amazing Grace DNA at the base- the cleanliness and a sort of safe home-base kind of feeling. It’s not a powerhouse kind of scent, soft and safe for everyday and those that like roses and flowery scents. I would not describe it as a romantic rose, it is very clean pure classic ballet kind of rose indeed. I also do not care much for the bottle design. However, sometimes we want just something very simple, pure and dependable, and there is nothing wrong with that. I am not very familiar with Niche fragrances, but it can be certainly compared to Chloe Roses perfume or Stella by Stella McCartney. Both of the latter scents are more intriguing in my humble opinion. I especially love Stella. All in all, I really enjoyed Amazing Grace Ballet rose.
