CAPTAIN
Does anyone else know this satire magazine, which was set up as a competitor to MAD magazine?

KAPUTT, the magazine for suppressed joie de vivre.

Somehow this subtitle came to mind today, when I put on Kalan after a long time and thought about how I would describe this fragrance in a nutshell.

Kalan is by no means a gloomy perfume. On the contrary, the main actor here is a juicy sweet blood orange, but by the counterparts "dust and cement" brutalst in their cheerful nature is slowed down. So this Marly envelops you quite potent, idiosyncratic and very dry and sweet for many hours.

Here it is most difficult for me to find the right use in conjunction with the right mood. Tends to be a perfume that I see more in leisure than in the job.

So in the morning I often think about what I want to put on that day. In indecision I also like to smell the various spray heads and not infrequently I also end up with a beautiful red bottle and think to myself: beautiful, but today rather not Kalan...

Beauty in cheerful melancholy
Orchid, queen of flowers.
Mysterious, delicate, and as in my ungreen hands, not really durable. No ordinary cut flower or common rose.
Probably for this very reason orchids exert a magical effect. Tropical flowers in all kinds of colors and shapes. Only one thing they do not have unfortunately, an inherent smell...

If I had to assign this plant necessarily a figure, then the orchid would be for me a petite, dark-haired woman with pitch-black hair, pale skin and red lips. A bit like Mortitia Adams from the famous Adams Family, or Angelina Jolie in her role as Maleficent, the dark fairy. (Ok, Angelina isn't really petite, but fits in all the better because of her tendency to be depressed)

Maybe some of the comments and statements here have shaped my image of it. From morbid, dark and wicked is here the speech.
At the same time, I must say that the fragrance on myself (male, also hardly petite, fair skin and light hair) initially seems relatively cheerful, bright and dazzling. There is a certain opulence to it that cannot be denied. After some time, despite everything, a fine melancholy resonates. The fruity decreases and darker, warmer tones dim the basic mood.

Over most of the course I take thereby the currant as a fruity, metallic note over a slightly sweet butter biscuit base.
I can't make out the other notes in detail, the incense completely eludes me.

Black Orchid is a fragrance that is so completely different: engaging, strongly present and somehow definitely a bit diva-like and melancholy. A little conceited, a little difficult, but fascinating. You're too special for every day, or every evening for that matter, but maybe that's not how you want to be - you're not made for housework, don't bother with gardening or even tax forms. Yours is the grand entrance, the evening, the fireworks, but also the contemplative silence, in which I have you particularly happy around me.

Off through the hedge
At first I was sceptical for a long time whether I could like the scent. Tart leather aromas are not really my thing. As luck would have it, the offer was good, I took the deal and had my favourite scent of this year's autumn sent to me.

I don't know why, but sometimes there are days when my nose hides certain notes and highlights other notes quite strongly.
For the first time I noticed this with Armanis Stronger with you. If I had nutty sweetness in my nose the first time, the next time it was just the scratchy sage.

It's the same with Godolphin on bad days. Actually a quite sweet almost unisex scent, my nose is missing the lovely superstructure completely. What remains is a bitter-sweet and dark note that almost reminds me of smoldering conifers. This skeleton probably represents the imitation leather, which according to the pyramid is most likely the thyme.

On good days I can expect an unobtrusive, even if quite present, soft leather scent that lasts very long.

Because of the relative lightness I like to use Godolphin during the day, the durability of my skin lasts until late in the evening, if not until the next morning anyway.

With currently several layers of clothing I get along more than well with 3 sprayers. With T-shirt I would reduce the dose to 1 - 2.

A small, friendly journey through time
Unfortunately, like many of the previous speakers, I can't conjure up historical celebrities or architectural examples out of a hat, but maybe my description will help somehow.

I came to Knize Ten as a virgin to her child. I have never heard anything about the fragrance, never have I consciously perceived it on an advertisement or in a shop. But there she suddenly lay. Just like that. A sample of four in a shipping carton from Sedley.

Two Davidoffs and CK one, how exciting. Well, let's check perfume, see what Knize Ten is supposed to be. Aha, toilet water, and that's from 1931, too. Sounds just like my taste, NOT!

I usually don't get much use out of older perfumes, the green note and worst of all oak moss automatically pulls the corners of my mouth down. I also often find leather difficult
Well: No courage, no heroes. Sprayed on and... It doesn't smell that bad. Brighter than expected, less biting than expected, but not comparable to modern creations. Capucci pour Homme, 36 years modern smells to me like a much older semester

Although I'm not an expert in leather and I've copied the scent for myself, I wouldn't have blindly noticed it here. In general, the individual notes are closely interwoven for me and so I have only soap and shaving stuff as a comparison
It's not soap like Mugler Cologne, but rather the old-fashioned curd soap that my grandmother always liked to put between the washed bed linen in the wardrobe to give the impression of cleanliness. Even as a child, it never smelled really fresh to me, but clean and washed. In addition to that I have this palmolivity, which makes me think more of shaving brushes than of gel.
All in all a nice perfume for me, far from being suitable for everyday use, but I will probably spray the sample for myself from time to time. Fortunately, you don't need much because of the strong durability. And then I imagine how it might have been in the past, about 90 years before this day

Greened fruit seniors
Let's get one thing straight: I don't know Creed's Aventus. So I can't make a direct comparison. However, after Rasasi's clone, Nero was the second attempt with this DNA. Mazzolari did a much better job of delivering the DNA that I feel. Much less, not to say no smoke, but a rather scratchy synthetic pineapple, embedded in freshness and some green ingredient that I find unpleasantly old-fashioned. Unfortunately, I don't know for sure if it is the birch tree.
I like the fragrance in and of itself, but I just don't feel old enough to wear it. That may be because I don't really like to smell like green stuff, especially not if it has a certain retro charm, as I said before.
The quality seems to me to be rather too low for the called price, which is not only reflected in the fragrance itself, but also in the windy bottle including cap and velvet box.

In summary, for me a clear one: you can do it, but you don't have to. Probably that's why I will probably refrain from further experiments concerning Aventus and his partly hunchbacked children...
