this is definitively an unusual
fragrance....

I find this scent oddly familiar...
I smell.....

a..Funeral... quiet on a cold foggy day.
Abundant Tears, Grief and Despair.
SADNESS!!!! all be it persistent Sadness, like Rain.

I also smell.......

a Cemetery...wet green earthy accords
The pale lily-dahlia-chrysanthemum flowers
and
funeral wreaths left on the graves...

There is the opening of the pale chrysanthemums followed by the rest of the bouquet,
flowers that have a bit of spiciness that lingers on your skin
The fragrance rings hollow, like an echo or
a watermark.

There is something perceptible like incense
but I find it only detectable as a feeling of
calm and quiet,
it isn’t a dominant note at all...and yet it almost feels like it is a main player of the fragrance because of the serenity it emits.

Perhaps some unmentioned chamomile petals which reinforces that sensation of.. rest,calm and peacefulness as the perfume slowly...
"Ascends" or "Descends"
into the base notes....
Like last words before its gone...
you are drawn even closer...to catch
it whispers its last breaths silently of spices and woody warmth.


I'm brought to tears .........for it brings to mind
the cemetery I visit with my mother every now and then .....
to leave flowers for my departed sister ...
she died 4 years ago...

It is a symbolic urn meant to be collected and preserved or a bouquet of chrysanthemums offered every 1st November when someone dear has recently passed away.

I read in some fragrance Blogs ...

"De Profundis" is NOT a perfume to be worn
and was never meant to be a "dark fragrance"
(smelling the perfume you"ll understand why it lacks all the qualities of a real perfume).

I'm a Leather fiend... when it comes to scents
and this one is a stand out.

Its been refer to as a GENTLE LEATHER!
Due impart to its mysterious powdery ..smoky feel
A classy leather,is always a Unisex scent
in my book.

I got compliments on my fragrance today while walking my dog... now who can say that's not a delight.

Good Girl notes....
Fruity and slightly floral

Bad girl drunk by six
Kissing someone else's lips
Smoked too many cigarettes today
I'm not happy when I act this way...

Bad Girl note:
Salty and not very clean ....(sweaty?)

A fragrance that is complicated and
doesn't care if you get her or not!!

Freak is astonishingly......
very safe and dare I say common.

it starts off like a few have mentioned ..
like a Men's cologne or After shave
however, it shifts and turns itself into a nice floral scent .
Like a man dressing up in drag ....familiar yet odd.

ahhh.... .
there are themes with which this fragrance and its creators
want to work within ..

the use of "Moonlit" and "Night Blooming "as its other theme
is why is I get White florals.....

But this is just a "Nice".fragrance
"Nothing out of the ordinary at all."
. but perhaps thats what so freakish about it
.. the fact that its soooo very very normal....
Like wearing .. a Ralph Lauren Preppy ... outfit ...
Polo shirt collar up to a Goth Party ...
The fact that its so normal ... makes it in fact an oddity
One wonders ....what lies beneath ...?????
and that's what's so Scary and FREAK -ish!

I agree with others that are also disappointed.
This fragrance does not live up to the cool dark imagery
that the advertising campaign and the bottle
want you to believe or buy into.

I wanted this to be something oddly special ...
Night-blooming flowers are usually intoxicatingly heavy.
they bewitch and usually make you swoon ....

I imagined a modern "Christian Dior's POISON"
or even dark and inky like ... "SoOud BURQUA"
or even odd and "Moonlit" cold like ...."L'Artisan Passage D'Enfer"
I wanted so much to buy this ...
I got a sample size ....
which is about as much as I can recommend ..

Sure it's sweet, but this Sauternes is complex
Layer upon layer of honey and exotic fruit, make it a spectacularly complex dessert wine.
YUMMMMM!
