And the ladies get high blood pressure again...
if you ask what I'm wearing, it's Tom Ford Oud Wood
The scent that was probably pushed hardest from the house to Tobacco Oud by a certain YouTuber.
The first time I tried it a year ago, I was so full of anticipation and high expectations that I felt almost insulted when the first molecules hit the olfactory cells of my nasal mucosa
Absolute cheekiness, chemical waste, hairspray, insect killer and a trace of medical practice.
Just found him cruel and could not understand why you would want to smell like that.
After some time, however, I felt the need for another bottling, why I can't really explain myself. Sometimes the nose wants what the nose wants
I sprayed it on and was unexpectedly not disgusted, walked around 8 hours at work with it and was approached several times. Although not always positive and when compliments came from middle-aged ladies, I had to measure their blood pressure
They liked my "aftershave"(......although I have a full beard, but thanks Mrs Freitag.)
After coming home and a fresh shower, I already took the atomizer again as a matter of course and fogged myself in again.
Suddenly the ugly duckling became a pretty swan after all.
Still not everyone's cup of tea, but it can be worn well every day.
The woods come across well after the nose has gotten used to them, cushioned by tonka and accompanied by some amber. In the prelude/first moment still not quite my friend, after 1-2 hours he becomes a quite nice DIng, even develops something like a slight...creaminess in the drydown?
SIllage and projection good the first hours, then flattening out quite quickly. As skin scent very pleasant !
However max. 5-6h perceptible on my skin.
With TF or in general these pseudo // designer fragrances like Creed and Clive Christian you don't have to discuss about price/performance.
Would I still buy a bottle ?......oh I already did......
And again the limbic system was superior to the rational mind. Damn

Ode to Manhood
Memoir Man, with this I would like to express my love, very openly, very untypically emotional.
I owe this fragrance to Dear Til, my first niche fragrance that immediately took a very special direction, but the keyword Absinthe and the black bottle had me directly

Somehow this spice mix bomb embodies everything I would like to be in certain moments, a superficial unshakable masculinity paired with a certain depth.

We throw around these expressions so often in everyday life. It's too feminine when we see the color pink. That was now "really masculine" when a buddy in the Wifebeater, stained with barbecue sauce, crushed his 4th beer ext and the can on his forehead.
But far too often one does not question this attribution of properties anymore.
Masculinity describes in a predefined way the sum of the characteristics which are considered to be characteristic for the man :

What would it be like?

Physical characteristics ? - brute, powerful, angular, raw
Characteristic features ? - Courage, Risk-taking, Aggressive, Dominant, Cold, Cool

All this somehow applies to Memoir Man.

I wear a lot of black in my everyday life, simply because I like things to be simple and uncomplicated when it comes to clothes and if this fragrance had a colour, it would match my wardrobe perfectly, because it smells dark

When I close my eyes, I see the same picture over and over again.
Middle Ages. A mild night of a full moon. After a hard day of field work the evening comes to an end, the last villagers scurry across the field paths, their own children and the wife are lying in bed.
You are tired and sweaty, but you want to drink a beer, so you leave the farm and go to the village pub.
Outside you can hardly see your hand in front of your eyes, because the round moon is usually hidden behind dense clouds.
The air tastes cold and musty, it almost seems as if wafts of mist from the nearby woods are trying to grab you. Quickly lit a torch and rushed off,
Past the small hut of the "Healerin", a creepy old woman of whom nobody seems to know what she is actually doing in this area.
Penetrant is the typical smell of burning herbs.
One painfully remembers the accident during harvesting with the sickle and the smelly bandages and ointments for the wound it brought you.
You reach the village and from far away you can hear the drunken shouting coming from the pub.
You open the door, the smell of warm sweat, stale beer and smoke hits you.
All obscured by something burning in the fireplace
Some of the villagers turn around in horror when you enter the taproom. Relax noticeably when they recognize you
In front of them on the counter are bags of tobacco made of leather and overturned glasses.
Cigarettes are stuck between the fingers or lips.
You will be waved nearer and told about the news.
"Little Lasse was found dead in the forest, completely mauled. Must have been wolves"
They hand you a leather pouch on a string.
"Here is wormwood with a little tarragon, basil and mint"
You raise an eyebrow questioningly
"This is the fourth corpse this week, normal wolves would never dare to come so close to the village.........they say a pack of werewolves is roaming the area"
Scornfully You laugh, wave your thanks and point to the fireplace.
"Yes, we burn incense and lavender to make it smell a little like church, Joseph also has holy water with him to make it safe here"
A few hours pass, you get a little cheerful again.
The mood is rising. Late at night you slowly return home before the others
You stop halfway, in the middle of the forest road and remember how you moved here a few weeks ago. The clouds move away from the moon for a moment and hit your skin
You can hear a loud, bloodcurdling howling through the forest
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Still one of my favourite fragrances, even if it will not be suitable for everyone.
Durability is on my skin unfortunately only around 7h, projection and SIllage the first 1-2h quite well then quickly flattening.
The fragrance polarizes, which can be expected with the components listed.
Definitely less compliments, but whoever chooses Memoir Men does so primarily for themselves anyway and one thing I can say is that it is a wonderful decision

PS : Viva la Absinthe !

The Smooth Criminal
If I had to describe this fragrance in one word, it would be "smooth."
The thing simply smells round, perfect and soft.
A real nose flatterer, what you probably don't expect from an "Oud" fragrance in this form.
Despite its "softness", the fragrance has something mysterious, dark and slightly masculine about it.
Not dark side street at night gloomy, not scary in the forest at night, rather lonely well dressed gentleman at the bar at midnight.
He knows who he is, what he can do. Throws the ladies a charming smile across the room and is actually just waiting for his attraction to unconsciously gravitate them into his direction

A scent where I see myself robbing a bank in a suit, a scent for "Smooth Criminals"
Just the sort of sympathetic criminals who have such a charm that you as a viewer are always on their side. Charismatic, present through a charisma, but never loud or raw.
If Oud for Greatness were a person or character, I would describe him as Raymond Reddington from the series Blacklist or as Neil Caffrey.
The main character from the series "White Collar" simply embodies everything I imagine or want to be when I close my eyes and have the scent of Initio in my nose.

Beautifully soft oud(?/ wood) present throughout, not dirty or fecal. Rather smoky.
Lavender, nutmeg and saffron cushion the woods beautifully and grind any edges, radiating a certain calmness and serenity.
A beautifully interwoven work in which simply everything somehow seems to be coherent.
Gives that satisfied feeling that you have when something fits perfectly.
Definitely a different kind of "oud" that you should definitely have smelled once.

Perfect position and projection. Not too obtrusive or penetrating room filling, but very well perceptible even over a long period of time
Durability of more than 10h on my skin.

Presentation of the box and presentation of the bottle so by pretty.
All in all for the price absolutely reasonable, if you look at other houses.

Daily Greetings the whiskey bottle or also : " Scottish Highlands" for your pocket
Baraonda - Unrest / Tumult, a name that somehow doesn't fit at all to what was presented to me when I pressed the spray head for the first time, or else ?

Wet autumn day and I got the blues
Hangovering on the couch, finally open the package from AlzD.
Short flashbacks from yesterday.

So special, glowing bright.
Learned at parties then, skin so white, hair so red and scars on the arms,
Cigarette butt in our hands, while we somehow lost our breath in the cold rain,
first it was silent glances, then loud laughter.
Much too loud, much too colourful to fit somehow.

A short look out of the window :

Outside, the world is dying before my eyes
The sky is grey and cold, green becomes yellow to red,
Wide empty field, leaves in the wind, I feel dead.

God, why do people drink at all when the morning after is so unbearably shitty ?
Red with rage, green with envy and blue with booze, shit.
Now here on the couch so alone I just feel sorry for myself
But maybe it's also the weather
Plop, plop, tok, tok, tok, tok. I turn the view from my meanwhile opened package again to the window......it's raining.

I lift the box out of the package, open it and a small glimmer of light caught in clear glass, tamed by wood sparkles at me
Hey you little punk, we're getting to know each other now. Whiskey for the nose after such a night can only be as good as a cool counterculture

I take off the wooden cap, which lies comfortably in my hand, activate the atomizer and feel better ?
Not necessarily because of the alcoholic note that definitely plays an engaging role, but it resonates so much more. Somehow a bit of joie de vivre and freshness. Apple plantations in late summer, bare feet rushing through wet grass, tree houses, playgrounds and children's laughter.
Baraonda is not the sort of commotion I expected
Nothing harsh and dissonant. No heavy metal, no demonstration, no streetraveal commotion
It's more like a family celebration with the loved ones, my heart is going crazy

A documentary about Scotland flickers across the TV screen while I have my nose glued to my wrist : " The Highlands is by far the largest region in Scotland both in area and in whisky production. This massive area has over 30 distilleries on the mainland. Region characteristics: "fruity, sweet, spicy, malty"

Oh, so that's how it is, I guess, and keep on sniffing.
Baraonda remains pleasing, incredibly pleasant and fragrant.
Boozy, but soft and suitable for everyday use. Slightly sweet, but not unpleasantly sticky.
I dusk away on the couch, while pictures of sunlit wide fields flicker across the screen.
When I wake up again, it smells heavenly, at first slightly confused but indeterminately happy, I sit up.
Breathe in deeply through the nose and out through the mouth, jep Baraonda is still there and has felt half the room filled.
Light sunrays fall through the window, the sky is blue and clear for a moment
I smile

It's not for Everyone
Fucking Fabulous, a name that makes me think of a feminine scent as a man.
Pink bottle, sugar-sweet rainbow horn scent would be my first association if someone would ask me what the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the name.
Fucking Fabulus is none of that.
I owe my first contact with the fragrance to a friendly gentleman from the souk and even now that I am writing this statement I still can't say 100% exactly whether I am attracted or repelled by the fragrance
One thing, however, can be said directly: The fragrance is not a crowdpleaser, not pleasing, but most of the time just loud

Tom Ford takes me somewhere with the scent a little bit into my childhood and I love it.
Fragrances that evoke memories and make me feel something, not just striking fragrances that want to please at all costs. Already 1000 times smelled dull citric freshness or this pleasing gourmand stickiness, but something.......something different
F
* Fabulous is chaotic and disorderly, a mix of fragrance components that may not really harmonize, at least in my nose, but I still like it
The prelude reminds me of plastic sheeting, worn rubber tyres and gardening gloves
To my father's workshop, which was always full of turpentine, car polish and leather-scented vintage cars.
Somehow dirty and yet a place where you can feel comfortable - and secure.
Bitter almond, lavender and sage stand out for me and probably create this effect that reminds my nose of plastic. Unusual and yet after several tests something that my nose now likes.
Leather, tonka bean and vanilla remain in the background for the time being.
In the course of time it feels like I'm taking a little test drive with my father in a repaired car, the smell of leather comes out of the seats and fills the interior, plays around us slightly. My father lets the tires squeal as we start up, rubber and plastic still in the air.
The window opens and my father puts on one of those disgusting vanilla cigarillos, the pungent scent wafts into my nose. It smells slightly of vanilla, but not yet pleasant because many other smells seem to fight with the vanilla.
Then after we heat over country roads for some time, past fields, woodsheds and forests. Let's stop in the city and it smells wonderfully pleasant when we stop next to a bakery.
We enter the shop and it smells heavenly like vanilla cookies, Danish pastry, somehow delicious.

The drydown of Fucking Fabulous may be the most tame of this fragrance and I personally like it the best.
The vanilla comes very prominently to the fore, accompanied by leather, amber and tonka without being obtrusive or aggressive.
I feel an immense calm and relaxation when the 5-6h mark is exceeded, as if I had just had a tasty piece of Danish pastry and was cuddled up with a warm blanket on the passenger seat, while my father brings me home safely through the night.

Durability and silage absolutely appropriate for a Tom Ford.
Fucking Fabulous is mMn a statement.
One that not everyone will like and that not everyone wants to hear, let alone smell, but something that is there.
A clear statement, confident, safe and loud. At the same time chaotic and paradoxical.
Kind of hard and loud, kind of soft and cuddly.

With me the good Tom may place in any case a further bottle, as soon as my Portmonaie permits it.
