"Everything Old Is New Again"
Almost a one for one of Moustache Original 1949 (Rochas). I couldn't believe it. Just a bit more cleaned up and gone is the sharpness and the cheap synthetic musc note. And the peach is a Rorschach peach. Some may smell peach, some may smell it for what it is, and that's an accord of neroli, bergamot, lemon... I really don't know, but I'm just taking a stab at it.

I have Moustache Original 1949.

New wave perfumery...
The notes sound SUPER promising, but, alas, the end result is not. Like, I know we're all different and smell what we smell but, this new wave of perfumery... idk.

It's almost as if these brands are struggling so hard to break new ground that they are willing to dump anything different into a bottle, just for the sake of standing out and yet, totally without cohesion. And use the guise "niche" to Jedi mind trick the undiscerning person into adopting it, even if they, too, are a bit unsettled by it's "uniqueness" lol

Don't get me wrong, there are some nice things being put out, they're just hard to find.

Jack POT!
Yes, ladies and gents, this is the real deal.

If you, like me, ever secretly wanted a fragrance featuring a banana accord, but just assumed, due to a glaring absence of such an accord in perfumery, that it must be laughably synthetic and thus reserved for ambient spray at a gorilla enclosure, well, no.

Behold! the creative nose behind this scent has given us, not only wearable scent but, a credibly high end daily driver. It's clearly niche, no mistakes about that, but it's not "what is that???!!!" niche.

Contrary to other reviews I seen on this, the banana accord is integral to the whole and is not just a fleeing top note. In fact, as it settles more of the banana shines thru, along with benzoin, cardamom and sandalwood. As quirky as it sounds, it's truly not.

Keep in mind, your mileage may vary. We all smell what we smell.

Anyway, I just got this in and am wearing this as I jab at the letters on my phone. I have to give it a few more wearings, but, yes, this will ALWAYS stay in my collection... and (foreseeably) worn a whole lot.

UPDATE: The late dry down has me thinking (in the moment) that this is the best dry down I've smelled on ANY fragrance. It's like this very smooth coconutty, sandalwoody, cardamom-y, benzoin-y, banana aroma. And to top things off, there's this faint but adequate, amber hint in the background that's playing peekaboo.Yeah, this is gourmand done right. If you can even call it a gourmand, as weird as that may sound being as I just listed off all those food notes. But, yeah, this may be neck in neck with Fougere Emeraude for best 2024 discovery.

This is absolutely stunning!

If you're into French perfumery, this is for you. If you enjoy fragrances like Sultan Vetiver (esp in the dry down), this also is for you. If you like long lasting, discreet fragrances, with a distinct, manly and classy appeal: THIS is for you, my friend.

To use tuberose in this way is just genius. Due to Tubéreuse criminelle and now this, I am currently on a tuberose kick and will definitely be buying both: Odor 93 (Meo Fusciuni) and the recently announced, Tubéreuse Astrale (Maison Crivelli).

Just when I felt I was content with what I own, in comes something creative and new (to my nose) and just reinvigorates my passion.

In any event, I will be selling a good chunk of my fragrances (outside of my custom shelves on Fragrantica which I need to create on Parfumo, being I like this site better). If I can get rid of about 100, I will be acquiring everything from my "wish" list and, from that point forward, focus only on rare notes that are done well.

I just have to stop being lazy and post them on somebody's site.

Until next time...

UPDATE: This thing thrives in balmy, wet, weather

Not so fast, my friend...
I went into B&G hoping to get a sample of the parfum version of Oud Wood and was given this. I've never smelled Oud Mineral. So at first I was a bit miffed, however, after sampling this I was literally stunned at how good it is! I kept deeply sniffing the crux of my wrist all throughout the night; even when I woke up in the middle of the night. I audibly said 'man, this is good'. However, something in the back of my mind was saying you smelled this before. I know I haven't. Then when I woke up, laying in bed procrastinating, the vague scent of it (EXCELLENT legs!) still lingered. Then it hit me: Monto'ac (Source Adage) and Whispered Myths (Imaginary Authors). OM Smells like a more refined and subtle version of those, with a lot less going on. I have yet to compare the three side by side, but those are the two that came to mind. Prior to writing this, I checked the older posting of OM on another site and it seems like I'm not the only one who gets the semblance. In any case: I own the both already and am avoiding ALL redundancies. If I run out of those, (who am I kidding) I will be getting this.

Thanks for letting me babble, folks!
