Smellavision

A very dark fragrance, but definitely unisex.

Opens up with an almost harsh blast of leather, which slowly gives way to sweet pipe tobacco. I couldn't find neither grape nor cacao in this, but I swear there's hints of liquorice and - something cherry like? Also in the drydown, a musk/myrrh is always present in the background - I'm not really sure if it's due to the ambergris or a mix with incense. A very complex fragrance, which oozes quality but is a little too - tadaa! - avant garde for me.

Strangely, when I think about it I could imagine someone like David Bowie wearing this in his younger years :-)

I can see that this fragrance takes quite a beating around the net, but to me it's just a great gentlemans smell - not loud, but refined.
The herbal opening with sage & nutmeg is followed by a smoooth pipe tobacco and after about an hour the drydown with sandalwood and amber kicks in. It can seem slightly synthetic for a short while, but once I get into the vibe, I hardly notice.

I borrowed this at the gym from a friend after a workout (mental note: always remember your personal smells) and yes, he is about five years older than me. Anyway I gave two sprays of this beast to the chest and two to the neck and BAZINGA! : instantly I was Cologne Guy oozing man from the mid-eighties. This stuff should be labelled as nuclear. The lemon and basil opening slowly gives room to the rose and carnation mixed with a chemical cedar. I'm aware that several Versaces are soapy and powdery, but this is ridiculous : I smelt like I had smeared myself all over with my Grandmothers hand soap bar. This stuff is VERY masculine and only for adults. After 2-3 hours I had to give up and take a scrub.

What to say ? A very fresh and green citrus with lots of yuzu and sage as well as a hint of sea water/air.

IMO it's a great happy and fresh smell, very simple, but I just can't help smiling when I put it on. Indeed, sometimes less is more - especially on a warm summer day. Can seem slightly synthetic, but in this smell it doesn't bother me at all. I get about 4 hrs+ of longevity from this smiley smell, which is rather fine on warmer days.

The bottle design is really nice as well, you can't go wrong with this one in spring or summer.

Blind buy, based on tips from fellow fragheads, I waited three weeks for a 50 ml. bottle of this juicy (get it?) juice and after complaining to the retailer they dug out a 100 ml. bottle for the same price within three hours - sweet! Put it right on and all I got was sweet pineapple and strawberry - and lots of it. Tried it several times and nothing changed, just too sweet and cloying - no freshness or spices anywhere to back it up.
Would I eat it if it were a dessert? Definitely. Would I wear it as a smell? Definitely not.
This is not my thing, luckily I got to trade it with another fraghead for something spicier.

BTW, what's up with the skull hanger on the bottle and Iggy Pop doing the commercial? No punk here, should be a Barbie doll instead.
