A winner looks different...
Invictus is known to many people, even to those who have little to do with perfume. The reason for this is probably the commercial, which presents the winner of the cup as the winner over the audience and the women's world, accompanied by Kanye West music. Well, if that time doesn't meet the spirit of the times
So I was also curious about this fragrance and he received, as one of the first slightly more expensive perfumes, move into my commode
That was now almost three years ago and I can probably say that my fragrance preferences have changed significantly during this time.

About the fragrance: It begins fresh and citric, and I clearly perceive the grapefruit.
After about an hour, however, this completely gives way and makes room for the typical "bubblegum sweetness" for which the fragrance is known. This also lasts for hours and finally ends in the usual sweet broth, which is the foundation of many synthetic fragrances. All of this comes across as very synthetic, which gives me increasing headaches.

The shelf life is about 7 hours and the sillage should not be underestimated during the first hours.

Basically, it's not a bad smell. For someone who is just starting to get interested in fragrances, or for people who are simply looking for a scent to make a better figure in the club, there are certainly better, but also significantly worse alternatives. However, it has become so common in the last few years that I feel almost strange wearing it. Similar to his brother from the same house, I don't need to name him, he has conquered the bars, clubs and also classrooms. Also some of my work colleagues help themselves to the cup in the morning and take care of my breath with it

Because of its synthetic-sweet character you should wait for cooler days to spray it on, otherwise it can quickly become too much of a good thing. Especially in summer, I personally can't think of any other fragrance that I would like to wear less than Invictus.

In any case, it is more suitable for younger men or boys in a casual look. For everything else it seems too playful, or too uninspired. Also I would not use it every day, but maybe at outdoor events.

For those who are looking for similar DNA, I can only recommend Rasasi Hawas. This one makes things better by combining the stuffy sweetness with aquatic notes. Also the Invictus Aqua is an alternative, although the newer version is not supposed to be as good as the 2016, but I can't judge that.

No writing on the lid...
...I thought to myself, when I ordered a used bottle from DHI.
Allegedly, the Intense version of this fragrance should have been spared from the 2020 reformulation, but would rather play it safe. As I've only had sporadic contact with the Dior Homme series so far, I wasn't very prejudiced about the possible change to the Dior Homme. However, when I was recently given a taste of the new reformulation, I was quite disillusioned and visibly confused about this completely new path that Dior now seems to be taking. So don't hesitate and get your hands on a copy of the Intense version to test it at least once more before Dior decides to mess it up as well.

Of course I would have done some research on this platform in advance. You can't avoid to stumble over DHI, considering the amount of comments and ratings, which are very positive because of the bank.

So to the fragrance: DHI starts already enormously iris-heavy. That's what the whole range is known and respected for. The strong iris start gives the fragrance something very high quality and you immediately have the feeling that it is a very luxurious representative. In the further course of the fragrance a subtle sweetness is added, not obtrusive or penetrating, but very finely underlays all the fragrance components. After a few hours I notice the cedar and the leather. Everything is very warm and inviting, and yet distant and cool through the iris.
I also understand what is so often associated with make-up or lipstick. A vague memory comes up when I discovered a big blue make-up case as a child, while rummaging through my mother's things. The smell is very close to it

Shelf life and silage are quite pronounced, the first hours I perceive the scent well, later unfortunately not anymore, but even after about 6 hours it was confirmed to me that the scent is still present.

In conclusion, Dior Homme Intense is a very solid fragrance, but I can only partly understand its enormous hype. He may simply have been one of the first to establish the concept of iris in men's fragrances, and was successful with it. This can be seen in the various younger relatives a la Valentino Uomo (Intense), Givenchy Gent., etc.
They take up the basic idea and interpret it anew (and sometimes better).

I look at DHI upwards at mid-twenties, as it is not very playful and rather gives an impression of seriousness and calm. It is also nothing if you are desperately looking for a stereotypically male scent. Instead it smells clearly too metrosexual.
An appropriate occasion to wear it might be at a formal gathering, rather than a "booze cruise".

The One...
...eau de Parfum.
Should not be inferior to the EdT in scent by any means, the performance should be a little better.
At least that's what it was like to read here and listen to YouTube in various videos.
An upgrade, which seems to be tailor-made, since the fragrance character already has a certain cult status and enjoys great popularity, both with the mainstream and with connoisseurs
In general, it is not really the rule that EdP only increases the concentration of the ingredients, but the fragrance itself remains largely untouched.
But in this case, the right decision.
About the fragrance: The One starts fresh and spicy, with a particular note of basil and grapefruit. It quickly develops a pleasant sweetness and I think I smell the orange blossom. The scent retains this for the next two hours, before it fades away spicy and woody.
All in all a very beautiful composition.
The Sillage is very good in the first half hour, but then unfortunately becomes very close very quickly. The shelf life is about 4 hours for me. This is not very strong, but compared to the EdT it is a significant increase.
Since The One is very sweet and spicy, I would rather assign it to the colder seasons, but I would also wear it on cooler spring or summer days. Last but not least, since no component is unpleasantly burping and it generally comes across rather discreet.
It is also portable for the entire spectrum of perfume enthusiasts.
In my environment it is consistently well to very well received.
For me, it has been a solid everyday scent for the last two years, whether at school or at work. However, due to the moderate performance I have decanted it into a pocket sprayer and after a few hours I help out if I feel that the fragrance has let me down.
Of course you can also use it like this when celebrating.
In my opinion, the eau de parfum is the best flanker in the range. This was especially noticeable with the latest offspring of The One's...

It's the iris...
at the Valentino uomo.
First I was in possession of his legendary relative Valentino uomo Intense, whose fragrance character I really appreciate, but whose performance on my skin is rather modest. But as I recognized the potential of the fragrance composition, the normal uomo now also moved in with me.
The relationship to the Intense is unmistakable, but the relationship to the Aqua is limited.
VU starts with a lot of iris and something fresh/citric resonates. The iris stays and coffee and gianduja cream are added, which gives it its characteristic vibe. An elegant nuttiness develops, which I like very much and reminds me minimally of One Million Lucky. I also have the feeling that I have smelled something similar to a cosmetic product before, but I can't remember which one. In the further course of time Valentino uomo becomes a little sweeter, but changes only little.
All in all a solid fragrance mixture
Since it is a rather light fragrance, the shelf life is relatively short. After six hours, I am finished. Also the Sillage is rather mediocre. It is already there, but the scent is only very subtle. I think this is intentional, because Uomo is a wonderful companion for everyday life, which is not very offensive and should put everyone in a good mood.
It radiates elegance and light-heartedness, which makes it definitely suitable for the office or customer traffic.
It is wearable all year round, although I would not necessarily go for it in midsummer.
Also concerning the price you can't go wrong with him, I bought my 50ml copy for about 40 Euro. The flacon is also very nice. With the knobbed glass, the capless spray head and the golden brown content it looks very chic and elegant. Just what this fragrance stands for.
It can be recommended without reservation to everyone. Although it fits rather well with more upscale clothing, I also see it on everyday outfits with sneakers
In conclusion it can be said that Valentino uomo is a quite solid fragrance, where you might have to spray after a few hours, but it accompanies you through the day like a light aura and makes you (at least me) in a good mood.

My first lute...
...is Chergui and we're getting warm together.
It was my souvenir from my last visit to the perfumery, and I was even very unsure about buying it. I had read many good things about him, but when I finally had him on my hand, it was not love at first sight. Even now, almost a week later, I'm still wondering what exactly was the deciding factor for the purchase. Because it is not exactly cheap and it is not particularly versatile (actually).
I think in the end it was probably his interesting scent character that fascinated me so much to spend 180 Euros on a big bottle (the small ones were out, much to the chagrin of my wallet).
Because there is something about Chergui that draws me to him.
It starts spicy and kind of medicinal. Then there's the hay... and honey, honey, honey and more honey. Very sweet and pompous. Definitely oriental. So far, not for the faint of heart. This combination will hold for the first hour. Then the hay will decrease and the honey will come out even more. Although the start was already damn sweet, I have the feeling that Chergui's sweetness will increase significantly as it progresses. Later it gets even creamier and I almost have associations with honey milk.
Nevertheless, there is something dry about the fragrance. Makes sense, considering it's named after a desert wind. Well done, mr. Luten, that's what I call a mark.
The durability is enormous. It lasts all day and the sillage is also strong. Therefore dose carefully, not least because the fragrance knows how to polarize. Two sprays should be enough for the day.
Chergui is definitely a fragrance for cold days, it is really uncompromising. I can't even imagine how it would look on the subway at the height of summer.
It is all the more absurd that Chergui still has a certain potential of everyday scent for me. I haven't tested it as such yet (which will probably take some time due to the approaching summer...), but I have more and more the feeling that it can function as such.
It is also definitely unisex, although I think it is well in the middle.
I would estimate the carrier from the middle of 20 upwards.
To be honest, I'm still a bit at a loss when it comes to evaluating this fragrance. But I like it more and more and slowly the feeling is disappearing that it was just an impulse purchase. You have to get involved with it rather than wanting to like it with all your might, then it reveals itself to you. I am confident about that
