The beauty of melancholy
Do you know what it's like to be in the forest?
November.
When dense fog wraps the day in a soft cape.
The leaves yellowed and deprived of all strength,
quietly trickling on her bed of moss,
on rich earthy ground.
Moisture pregnant the breath of the forest.
You hear his melancholic sigh:
It's all good.
Laying down to rest, not to sleep,
just to be with himself.
Until everything wakes up again.
I'm sure it is.

Knowing is a perfume of deep positive melancholy.
A dense cape, protective as of course,
without being hard.
Of pleasant spice, almost liqueurish,
delicious, with a slightly sweet note, the prelude.
Plum is present here, finely woven with a gentle tuberose.
With the first breath begins a pleasure, which will accompany me for many hours.
Flower through woven earthy aromas.
Jasmine and rose are in harmonious balance, protected by dark green patchouli.
Vetiver, with its balsamic earthy power, is calming, like a good friend.
Never intrusive, always self-evident.

The bottle nestles into my hand as a noble piece of jewellery.
A flatterer I hate to put aside.
Its corners and edges as if smoothed by the tides.
Valuable and heavy.
The honey-golden content radiates warmth, with cool elegance.
Quietly I hear his tender whisper:
Do you love me?

Yes... Certainly.

How beautiful days begin
The early birdsongs had faded away and the first rays of sunshine in my face promised a friendly day.
I felt your hand in mine.
" Shall we take a trip ?"
i asked quietly.
"Oh, yes," you said with a smile.
" We're going to Berlin ".

I was already in the car when you came out of the house with a picnic basket.
There were mandarins in it, whose bright orange looked so tempting.
A fruity delicacy that would delight us for many hours.

In order to escape the fast pace of everyday life, we took our way along country roads and small avenues.
Linden blossom leaves fell into our cabriolet.
We felt like a young couple wishing them a happy future with a shower of flowers.
We were happy.
Our future was now.

We stopped at a lake.
While we were nibbling the mandarins, a fresh breeze
Cedar scent of the beach cottage over to us.
Again your hand lay in mine and I knew I would always have spring with you - any season of the year, all my life.

1A-33 may remind you of a cologne during the first spray,
this impression disappears quickly.
A fresh, juicy mandarin gives the start, whose fruitiness lingers right up to the base.
After a short time the pleasant sweet note of the lime blossom develops on the skin.
It gives the fragrance its true character. Delicately supported by jasmine and magnolia.
Iris and cedar wood have their common appearance in the base.
Iris acts as a powdery counterbalance here.
The woody note gets a fine balsamic spice.

The dosage should be chosen carefully.
This is not a refreshing water, but an Eau de Parfum, which absolutely lives up to its name.
Sprayed in the morning, it lasts all day. On the hair or in the clothes also far beyond that.

The numbers 1A refer to the first license plate of Berlin.
33 stands for Moabit, the first company location of the Schwarzlose family.

The flacon of thick-walled glass in Art Deco style is provided with a noble brass cap and looks very valuable.
Taken together, this is an optical and olfactory pleasure that allows beautiful days to begin.

This tooth is pulled
In the meantime we have got to know numerous extravagant fragrances from Serge Lutens, but what was the monsieur thinking a perfume
Dent de Lait?
I've received a sample and I'm going to get to the bottom of this.
Unfortunately, I take a look at the scents first and read : Blood Chord.
I'm getting a little anxious.
I wonder what's in store for me.
How will this chord smell?
Fresh, old, dried blood -
i've smelled it all before.
Would I like to find that in a perfume?
But wait, it is about the named childlike milk tooth.
Can't be that bad.

I remember an incident when my eldest son gradually separated from his first teeth at the age of 6.
A molar tooth proved to be particularly stubborn and did not want to submit to the planning of dental construction.
His dad had the ingenious idea of wrapping the troublemaker in a strong thread and attaching the other end of the thread to the Playmobil slingshot.
The slingshot was stretched and anyway we all understood that now game should become serious, the tooth had already been pulled.
With traces of blood he dangled on the stable thread and left no unpleasant scent impression.

But finally to the test:
I spray and instantly I am in the dentist's chair.
"Now, please rinse out your mouth once more," I hear my doctor say.
Aldehydes in their purest form have an effect on me and I think I can almost taste a mouthwash.
Certain doubts arise as to whether I have just perfumed or disinfected myself.
After an hour, the fragrance becomes a little softer, which may be due to the coconut milk. Is there any resemblance to Chanel No. 5 ?
No, this thought only germinates very briefly in me, which may be due to the aldehydes.
Dent de Lait has nothing citric, nothing flowery, nothing creamy.
If I notice a light almond note, it may be due to the benzaldehyde used, which is sweet almond.
Even after 2 hours Dent de Lait stagnates in his aldehyde presence.
There is no liveliness at all.
I almost wish for the blood chord to revive the whole thing, but I still miss it after hours.
There's nothing to save -
the perfume is clinically dead.

The comatose shelf life is quite decent.
6 hours at the wrist were possible with me, whereby the Sillage remains rather close to the body.
The SL - typical bottle fits perfectly this time. Could there be a good mouthwash in there?

Conclusion:
No, my dear Monsieur Lutens,
i don't want to go through that treatment again.
The tooth is now finally extracted.

A light in the dark
Serge Lutens had a very special souvenir in his luggage when he returned from a trip to the Orient.
Back home again, he dreamed of the wonders of Arabia, of serails and the fairy tales of 1001 Nights.
Inspired by the scents of oriental markets, he created a perfume in which he combined components that smell particularly good when dried.

So Arabie takes me by the hand and leads me past the lavishly filled stalls of the traders who offer me figs, dates, nuts and mandarins for sale...
and on to the spice bowls with cumin, nutmeg and cloves.

An ancient doctrine says,
that dry ingredients are noble in nature,
while moist ingredients embody lust......
Thus the connection to the serails is obvious, in which one gave oneself to physical pleasures of any kind.

Arabie is a very sensual composition.
There is no fragrance process of head, heart and base in the usual sense.
With the first drop she shows a presence that is unparalleled.
The dried fruits and spices form a bond and unfold a full golden warmth on the skin.
Sandalwood and cedar resins contribute with woody notes and almost convey meditative peace and relaxation.

This mood seduces me to a journey through time.
I see myself sitting in my grandparents' kitchen.
It was in the pre-Christmas period and while my parents continued in their hectic activity, I found here the contemplative hours that make the togetherness so valuable.
Candlelight illuminated the room and bathed everything in a warm light:
the nutcracker, the smokehouse, the shell with mandarins, nuts and gingerbread.
A delicious spicy fragrance rose into my nose and made me understand that Christmas Eve was not far away.
With the help of my grandfather I wrote wish lists and often the anticipation of a toy was much more intense than the gift itself.
When I was two and a half years old, the following story happened, which I have no memory of, but which was recorded on tape.
My parents had placed numerous gifts under the Christmas tree, including an expensive doll's pram with a doll inside.
When I was called into the living room and saw the decorated tree with all its lights, I was so impressed by this splendour that I did not take note of the toys.
Only one small mushroom, which was attached to the tree, attracted my full attention.
To my mother's question: "What is the most beautiful thing? " I shouted enthusiastically:
"A little mushroom !"

Arabie's my Christmas scent.
He reminds me of those childhood days, which my grandfather filled out with what was valuable to me:
Warmth and security.

Arabie with its room-filling opulence radiates a full, spicy warmth even after hours on the skin.
A few dried fruits and spices are enough for a little luck.

He who sits in the dark, lights himself a dream.
What is better suited as stimulation than a beautiful scent?!

Facets of life
It must have been 1995.
My sons were still young and the eldest had brought home an unpleasant cold with fever and middle ear infection from kindergarten.
His little brother had not been asked for long and had followed him with all his symptoms.
After a visit to the doctor it was clear
that we had to make ourselves comfortable at home in the coming days.
Together with Benjamin Blümchen I took over the childcare.
I read until we knew the stories by heart, built with Lego and Playmobil or we made other games.
If Benjamin would tell me with loud
TÖÖÖÖÖÖÖ from the cassette recorder,
i devoted myself to the housework and took care of our physical well-being.
The days were filled and passed quickly, but due to sniffing noses and earaches the restful night's rest for all of us failed.
When my husband came home from work on Friday evening, there was no prize to win with me.
After a hot bath I said goodbye relatively fast with Mister Sandman.

The next day we were all much better already and my husband suggested me after lunch that it would do me good to go out for a while - to stroll into town maybe.....He would be there now.
Oh, what a nice offer.
It didn't take long, and I was out the door.

In the city I strolled aimlessly through the shopping streets, but after a week of quarantine I enjoyed the colourful life and was happy to drift without having to get involved myself.
My way led finally into a perfumery, where a friendly saleswoman received me immediately.
She asked me if I already knew the new scent from Dior and if she could spray it on my wrist?
Probably she had recognized by my dark eye rings that a little Dolce vita could not harm me.

The beautiful bottle alone awakened my spirits.
Like a small celestial body it lay in her hand and through the facet-like cut the lights of the perfumery broke in it and sparkled like stars.
The golden yellow liquid promised a delicious elixir and YES, of course I didn't want to refuse this fragrance experience.
So she sprayed and what I experienced was a real firework of aromas.

The fruity sweetness of apricots and peaches,
spicy chords of cinnamon and cardamom,
and the peppery spiciness of carnations poured on me.
Roses and rosewood accompanied by soft vanilla were revealed and again some pleasant sweetness of heliotrope.
Sandalwood, vetiver and patchouli gave a very beautiful, delicate woody note in the drydown, which I only noticed later.
I didn't wait that long to decide to buy.
I wanted to make this bottle of sweet joie de vivre my present.
Yeah, well, in that case, I'll wrap the scent up nice for you, the salesgirl said.

Happily I made my way home and was greeted by my men with stormy joy.
Of course I had a souvenir for everyone and after I had examined all the buildings of the afternoon, I took my present out of my pocket.

The saleswoman had draped numerous stars on a golden plate. In the middle the bright yellow packaging of the bottle was presented, wrapped in Celophan and with a glittering yellow ribbon
locked up.
It should take a few more days,
until I paid enough tribute to my anticipation and opened the box.

I am happy that I can continue to get this fragrance and that I can refresh a beautiful, intense memory again and again.
In the meantime it is only available as Eau de Toilette, but its durability and sillage are extraordinary.
Dolce vita has a high recognition value and stands out clearly from the current fragrance creations.
Its sparkling, fruity - flowery spice keeps what its name promises.
Pure joie de vivre.
