Fascinatingly unique!
Every time I was in a perfumery that had Baccarat Rouge there, I had to spray this fragrance on myself. He really fascinates me a lot, although, or maybe because I can't put into words what he smells like. For me, individual scents are absolutely intangible. All I can say for sure is that I can't smell the scents listed. Saffron, bitter almond and ambergris? Nope.
So I thought I'd take a look at what you perfumers have to say about Baccarat Rouge, where a lot of you are often nailed to the head with your fragrance descriptions. But the statements and comments here did not bring the great enlightenment either. So I should probably resign myself to the fact that Baccarat Rouge are one of those scents that you can't really describe - there should be.
Nevertheless I would like to share my fragrance "description" with you, it can't hurt. Well, let's try it.
Baccarat Rouge smells a bit like cotton candy, a bit like fireplace, a bit like baby cat, a bit like hyacinth and a bit like salt. Yes, all at once.
I also feel the hospital vibes, which are sometimes to be read. Maybe it's because I had to sell some organs for this perfume, you don't know.
The Sillage is strong, the durability outstanding. Too much is this fragrance still never.
A crowdpleaser is Baccarat Rouge but certainly not. From "Mega Parfum!" to "Hm, somehow boring." to "Üääh, that smells like a filthy plaster you've left on a wound for too long." So far there have been all kinds of reactions. Well.

A bipolar scent
With a comment on Perles de Lalique I have been torturing myself for a long time, because it is very difficult for me to classify this fragrance somewhere.
Perles de Lalique is somewhere between peppery and powdery, between flowery and herbaceous, between woody and fresh, between sweet and earthy.
Is he more masculine or more feminine? I don't know.
It refreshes me in summer and warms me in winter, it can wake me up on a warm morning and also bring me down after a hard day.
Does he now seem attractive or unapproachable? I don't know.
It is a cuddly scent and still a freshness kick.
Perles de Lalique is timeless and yet very modern. It is a fragrance for a special mood and still an "Immergeher".
Do I hate him or do I love him? Definitely the latter!

My skin but better
First of all, I have to say that I don't really like woody scents that much about myself. Sensuous is an exception. However, it would also be a cheek to simply call it a woody scent, because there is so much more!
The fragrance is quite linear. There is sandalwood from the beginning to the end and not too little of it. To the very creamy sandalwood mixes a delicate sweetness, which possibly comes from the honey, whereby I cannot smell this concretely, and the light spice of the pepper. This combination works surprisingly well because the sweet notes and pepper are so restrained that the dominant sandalwood tolerates them next to it. This results in a very harmonious composition of woody, creamy, sweet and spicy.
The flowery notes, which are supposed to be in there, remain completely hidden from me - but it doesn't matter, it works well without them. In the drydown I perceive it as a bit soapy.
Sensuous is a warm, cozy, timeless and elegant fragrance that suits every weather and occasion, but without being trivial. It reminds me of sun-warmed skin after spending the whole day outside.
The durability is quite good at me, I can perceive it good 8 hours. The Sillage is rather body-hugging, which in my opinion also fits the concept of the fragrance. And on some days I really don't want to be "raked" at a long distance.
If you are interested in Tom Ford's Santal Blush, you can smell Sensuous before and save a few Euros. There are definitely no identical fragrances, but there is already an unmistakable similarity.
By the way, I feel that the fragrance is absolutely unisex.

More like withered orchid
In my imagination Velvet Orchid is a beautiful summer scent for me. I like Tom Ford fragrances in general, the individual notes read well and I also like to hold up the honey flag here. So far so good - every year, when it gets warmer again, I try it again with Velvet Orchid. And I'd love to love him so much. Unfortunately the fragrance is unbearable for me for the first 2-3 hours. And even though this phase is over, I'm still far from finding it fabulous.
The opening smells so musty, dusty and dirty for me that I would really like to wash Velvet Orchid off again (which turns out to be very difficult if you try). My nose seems to skip the honey, instead I perceive old, dried up flowers lying on a compost heap. There's such a sultry sweetness about that, if I try, I can hear the flies buzzing around. (Ok, a little I exaggerate perhaps.)
Too bad it didn't work out with us again. You won't be my summer scent in 2018. See you next year!

Old love doesn't rust
I'm off today. I wanted to have a bad day and not leave the house. Maybe a little tidying up and cleaning if I feel like it spontaneously. I don't usually wear perfume on such occasions. Unfortunately, the Zara return trip I found in my hallway did me a disservice - so I had to get to the next post office.
I found a pair of trousers to put on quite fast, for the suitable "I'm going to just take a package away" fragrance I needed something. Undecided I stood in front of my perfume cupboard until I discovered L'Impératrice at the back of the last corner. It has been years since I consciously wore it the last time, although I loved it idolatrously in 2009/2010 when it appeared. But I was a lot younger and had a different taste. I think you can say that my scent preferences today are quite different than back then.
Now I have been back home for quite a while and have taken off my trousers again, only the scent still sticks to me. And I curse myself that I did not wear L'Impératrice more often, even that the scent has been forgotten. Because it's unbelievably beautiful!
I can't really do anything with fruity notes. But L'Impératrice manages to bring the rhubarb, the watermelon and the kiwi together in such a wonderful creamy-sweet way that I'm absolutely thrilled. That's a great summer feel-good scent!
Well, old love doesn't rust. Or at least not always.
