When life gives you lemons....
Why am I just now discovering this perfect summer scent? I don't know. Actually, I've always found the bottle very appealing. Since I don't like powdery scents that much, I thought this smelled similar to the original Dior Homme. Further away, the truth could not lie.

My biggest compliment for this fragrance: it's light and unobtrusive. You can also hardly overdose him, which is often the case for a cologne, but here especially. Unfortunately, the great lemon doesn't last long on my skin. One could almost think that is so intentional, so that one should repurchase faster.

However. The fragrance is suitable for hot days, but also already for spring. The fragrance is super light, does not annoy, gives no headache and is THE definition of freshness. Dior succeeds here in the art of not letting the lemon seem artificial. The balancing act between toilet cleaner and a good perfume is very difficult. Dior delivers across the board.

Ideal also for sports. For me, even THE fragrance for the gym, because he just does not annoy! I repeat myself, but that's what matters. Besides, the Strellson No.1 is the only fragrance for people who do not like perfume. Sounds funny, but it is so.

And thank you Dior for keeping the fragrance relatively linear as it progresses. Nothing is worse than when the top note tempts you to buy to then drift afterwards into something...unattractive.

So: shorts, white sneakers with (please) short white sneaker socks and a white T-shirt. Optimally, there is still a lemon on the shirt. And if you want to take it to the extreme, use bonecrusher pomade in your hair. You can't get more light delicious citrus scent and visual overkill than that. You walk around as a fresh lemon, wonderful.

Grapefruit for weight loss
Actually, I've been massively downsizing my perfume collection and didn't really want to buy anything new. Actually. But you know, you're never really dry, if you've ever started^^

A few days ago I declared war on my Corona pounds and started jogging again. Ok it still resembles more of an elephant with hip problems but the basic endurance will come back. I'll keep at it! That the diet must be changed is also clear.

Although grapefruit is not in season here, I love the taste and smell of this fruit enormously. So far I had not found a fragrance that would have adequately depicted this love. Until now. How did the hot summer days of years past go? Aqua the Gio? No, they all have. Cool Water? Yes you could again since no one really wears it anymore. But I'll even take good old Kenzo on that one. The citrusy scents like Dior Cologne and even the old D&G never really convinced me. Many smell too similar.

And then this perfect grapefruit scent comes out. Awesome! As if one had cut open a grapefruit. I also find the drydown beautiful and nothing "annoying" comes out.

And with that, this will be my perfect summer 2021 weight loss scent. Wearable on hot days. For jogging 5am before the office. Then in the office with bright summer outfit. And in the evening at the lake with colleagues.

It is one of those few summer fragrances that is NOT annoyingly noticeable but evokes compliments. There is nothing comparable and therefore the full score.

May the pounds fall off, with or without the grapefruit scent. But it is better with. Believe me ;-) I wish you all a healthy summer 2021!

Head top, heart flop.
You shouldn't judge people by appearances. The same goes for buying new perfumes. Appearance is, of course, the top note, not the packaging or the bottle. Top notes sell the perfumes. The 0815 customer may buy 2-3 different fragrances in his life. It's mostly against him similar to buying socks - so he sprays on briefly and says yes or no. After a few samples he chooses one - done. But in most cases it is probably even worse: the wives choose the fragrances for him because "he has no idea anyway". Not so with us perfumos. All the worse that I had made one of the most common beginner's mistakes here. Judging scent by the top note. This happened to me last time with a gold bar many years ago

So then, let's take this cartridge drum in our hands - sprayed on quickly and the first impression is ... fantastic! While others directly classify the cinnamon tangerine as synthetic, I love it just as much as the red tangerine in a gold bar or the sweet pear in an ultramale. Yes I am totally into sweet fruity bombs! But just now - if I had informed myself about the other ingredients before! Or if I had given the fragrance at least a few hours on my skin. But no! The gentleman had to buy directly in a touch of euphoria.

Unfortunately, the great top note doesn't stay too long and then soon the heart notes appear, which I don't like on paper already. It's supposed to smell like incense and caraway but these notes "sting" me unpleasantly in my nose. But once again the question arises, who defines masculinity at all? The Youtuber? The youtuber women? The latter often praise gourmand sweet perfumes or gaudy metallic representatives like Sauvage or Bleu de Chanel as "male". Or - even worse for me - the alcohol-tobacco crackers "bouzy-scents". So it is obviously "masculine" to smell of alcohol and tobacco? Maybe it used to be. I'm a conservative guy but when it comes to fragrances I never really liked the so-called "typical men's scents". When I think of the Diors, I get sick.

The Wanted by Night is certainly not a representative of these typical men's fragrances. It is sweet, but unfortunately for me a bit too smoky in the drydown. Whether the tobacco in the base further intensifies the unpleasant incense or has a softening effect I cannot judge. The fact is that even the leftovers still smell smoky and unpleasant the next morning. Nevertheless, the drydown is still a bit better than with the original gold bar, which drifts into an indefinable chemical sweetness that stinks to me. Among the representatives of the "sweet bombers", only the Ultramale could completely inspire me so far. The classic La Nuit de L'Homme also has a fantastic drydown, but this fragrance is far less dominant in the top note. So I wouldn't call it a sweet bomb, which the Wanted by Night is actually not. As far as the sweet opening is concerned, I would classify it exactly between La Nuit de L'Homme and the gold bar.

Which sweet bangers besides the ultra-male remain sweet even in the drydown? A 1 Million with a lasting top note until the end without the chemically turgid would be a dream. I don't like smoky, pungent heart and base notes, especially not in perfumes that start off so wonderfully sweet and fruity! In the first few minutes, you get something played to you that soon changes too much. Here I simply prefer linear scents. Either sweet or smoky, but please not both. I don't eat Nutella with ketchup either. Another negative example for me is Aventus. It is still a mystery to me how you can even like it - and here it is celebrated as "Panty Dropper". I think it's more likely that a switch point in the synapses of the Creed disciples is dropping. The only great thing about it is the pineapple, but the tart doesn't work at all (oakmoss?).

So this so my comparisons with the Wanted by Night. If you like it as it is - with smoky drydown - you get a good scent. It looks very mature and is more suitable for men over 30 or even 40. Are these associations right for you? Clearly a fragrance for the autumn/winter, for the summer it would be too heavy.

What a pity, such a great top note, but the rest....naja. Good midfield without wow-effect.

Sweeter the bells never ring
After an absence of 5 years I am back. Actually, I gave away almost my entire old collection, because I wanted to concentrate on a few fragrances, which I then really wear regularly. Well and already I am back in the fragrance heaven and had to get some new scents.

The Ultramale is really ultra. And thank God for the better $1 million. What do I mean by that? I admit I love strong sweet scents, and the 1 Million has such a fantastic top note! But why only WHY does this wonderful top note drift off so quickly (20-30 minutes) into something sweet-ugly and turgid. Such a pity. And that is unfortunately the same with every 1 million flankers. The top notes are almost always top but then.... and what is left over even the next morning is only a slightly pungent unpleasant "stench" for me. Yes indeed.

Not so the Ultramale. I used to have the normal JPG Le Male, too, back in the day. I liked that too, but the Ultramale now meets my taste 100%. The pear - although of course synthetic - smells simply fantastic. I also think that this is a fragrance that has to go especially well with your own body scent. I can well imagine that this is not always the case. My place fits perfectly. And unlike other sweet bombers, the Drydown is not ugly and turgid but remains very pleasant. The pear goes into the background and a pleasant woody vanilla scent remains. What a great drydown. I caught myself sniffing it out from under my T-shirt from time to time. So yummy!

Recently on a youtube channel I heard a lady who doesn't believe in sorting fragrances by occasion. For example, her boyfriend wears Amouage Jubilation XXV all year round - and in the office. I really like this fragrance too, but this blackberry bangs in a completely different way than the pear here. I am of the opinion that you can wear the Ultramale at work as well - but be careful not to contact customers! And only with a splash instead of 3-4 as usual and also rather in autumn and winter. Otherwise it's too much of a good thing - just like the one colleague who apparently takes a bath in the Bleu de Chanel - the office really stinks then. The right dosage is very important depending on the sillage and in the changing room in the gym I notice every time that most men don't get this - the stench is sometimes hard to stand (Axe etc. you know it).

Since the YSL L'Homme, I haven't had a fragrance, because I often spray it at home, just to enjoy it for myself.

Target group: younger men who party? Yeah, I can see that. But that doesn't stop me from wearing this with my 44.

If you are looking for a sweet and in my opinion better scent than the 1 Mio or the old Le Male, you are not doing anything wrong here. If you like the cult YSL La Nuit de L'Homme, you might like this one too, although they smell different but both are unmistakably sweet and delicious. A good autumn and winter cuddly scent.

Once again: don't just buy by head note. I don't even want to know how many people had already bought perfumes based on the first impression and then didn't like the heart note anymore. Not so with YSL L'Homme and this great fruity pear. Clear recommendation.
