It’s still available
First of all, the fragrance is still available. I purchased it today in the Xerjoff boutique in Milan for 375€/100ml and there happened to be a few bottles. I am not sure if it’s not produced anymore and I was just lucky to find it or if it’s simply not discontinued and they are going to restock it after being sold out. However, the salesperson did not mention any plans that it’s going to be discontinued.

Now that I’m only owning it for a few hours, I cannot guarantee that my current opinion is my final opinion on this fragrance.

The fragrance starts very citrusy with some woody and floral facets. One hour into the fragrance, the woody notes become more present and a little bit of smokiness comes trough. The scent starts green and remains green in my opinion, however the green becomes more like a dark green in the later stages of the fragrance.

I like the fragrance so far but I preferred the opening over the drydown.

Now I’m in the 5th hour of wearing the fragrance and I can still smell it around me. Obviously, I cannot tell you how long it’s going to last but so far I’m happy with the performance.

To me, it’s a sophisticated scent that can be worn in most occasions but probably best suited for daytime wear (all year). I definitely see this one being used in an office environment or other workplaces.

Talking about genders, you should wear whatever you want. But I see this one definitely more on the masculine side of the spectrum.

Gorgeous bottles
First of all, I’m a big fan of many LV fragrances and find the others at least decent. The fragrances of LV are mostly easy to wear and mass-appealing, however they are also unique. I understand that many people say that they are not worth the price but in my opinion many of them are. With that in mind I opened the five samples from the five new fragrances of LV which come in a gorgeous new bottle at a very high price tag (450€).
To make things clear, as much as I like the bottle design, the price of those fragrances is not justified.
But let’s talk about the smell anyway. Symphony is the only fragrance from the collection that I see slightly more on the masculine side. It is very citrusy and fresh. When I smelled it the first time, I immediately thought that I know the smell from somewhere. Now, a few days later, I think it’s similar to Creeds Aventus Cologne. I would describe it as denser, thicker and much longer performing.
I could easily smell it 16h after applying. To be honest, it wasn’t projecting at this point anymore, however it’s a fresh scent and it was still there.
So if you search for a long lasting fresh scent, you might put this one on your list.

Overall, I like the scent, but I currently don’t like it 450€-much. After testing the others from the collection too, it is the only one that I probably would go for as a men. For women, I really can suggest trying Dancing Blossom ans Stellar Times.

However all of them don’t seem to be as unique as the ones from the regular collection. I believe that LV has chosen a few good selling niche fragrances, got inspired by them and produced a much denser version of them.

Dior take on tobacco
When I heard about this fragrance I was very excited because whenever I talked to salespersons from Dior, I told them that Dior is missing a great tobacco scent. Now I got some experience with the scent and I want to share it with you.

First of all, Dior is not reinventing the wheel with this fragrance. There are certain aspects about this fragrance that can be found in other scents. I also want to say that as far as my research goes, this fragrance seems to be highly skin dependent. Some people have said that it is ultra sweet, others that it is ultra smoky. I can only tell you how it is on my skin but want to make you aware, that you should not blind buy this fragrance upon my experience, because yours might be different.

The fragrance starts with sweetness from the honey, fruitiness from the plum (I don’t get much peach) and smoky spiciness from the tobacco. The opening kind of remind me of the recently discontinued Plum Japonais by Tom Ford. It is not the same but I get similar vibes. Those vibes last for about 90mins.
Afterwards the fragrance develops in the direction of Back to Black by Kilian Paris. Honey and Tobacco are still present, smokiness is gone and some fruitiness is still there but less prominent. This stage of the fragrance lasts for about 2more hours.
The fragrance develops one more time. In the last 4 Hours of it’s lifetime it almost comes across like there is an Amber accord still with fruitiness. At this stage the fragrance reminds me of Ambre Eccentrico by Armani Prive.

As you can see the fragrance develops quite a lot on my skin and I really enjoy that. Although the fragrance reminds me of other fragrances at each stage there is not point where I would consider this fragrance being a clone or redundant to the ones mentioned in my description.

The performance is quite good, although it could be a bit better for the type of scent that it is. I get a longevity of about 8 hours and heavy projection for the first 3 hours and 3 more hours of medium projection.

The bottle and packaging hasn’t changed compared to other releases from the line.

Dior recently increased its prices by about 10%. Some other fragrances from the line are now not worth it anymore, however, if if you like how the fragrance smells on your skin, I’d still recommend a buy. But do not blind buy!

It’s good, but don’t get misled by the name
Sometimes being a fragrance enthusiast can be very stressful: There is this one fragrance that is on my to-try list since years and I simply never did try it. Recently, rumors occurred that the fragrance is going to be discontinued and it immediately sold out everywhere. I was afraid that I will never get a chance to try the mentioned fragrance and after a few weeks, I finally found it back in an online store, even at a discounted price. I pulled the trigger before it’s too late. And now I own Plum Japonais by Tom Ford - another blind buy.

Although I don’t find the Tom Ford Private Blend packaging special, it’s still kind of unique in its own way and hence it feels kind of special when unboxing a new TFPB. After I opened the box of Plum Japonais, I was excited to finally try it, knowing the risk that blind buys usually carry with them. So I immediately sprayed it on my arm and what can I say... it’s good, very good actually, but not what I expected based on the name „Plum Japonais“. I was expecting more of an Asian Style of fragrance, fruity-floral, more lightweight. What I got is an oriental style of fragrance: sweet amber and vanilla, spicy cinnamon, oud and plum.

Now, based on the notes I could have known how this fragrance smells but I last checked them years ago and kind of ignored them ever since.

Am I happy with the blind buy? Yes. I do like lighter scents for spring and summer but I also love oriental perfumes and this one smells just very good. If I would have to describe the smell I would say it’s about 30% of Tobacco Vanille, 30% Tobacco Oud (both without the Tobacco) and 40% plum with a Tom Ford-ish base.

I can’t say too much about the performance yet because I simply haven’t given it enough full wearings. But based on the style of fragrance and first wearings I don’t see any reason to complain.

I haven’t got any compliments or complaints either. But that’s also due to a lack of wearings and Social distancing (Covid-19).

I’m excited to wear this fragrance more often in the next few weeks and months and happy to have it in my collection before it’s (maybe?) gone or re-released in a more expensive product line.

Smooth leather
I don’t want to spread rumors but it seems to me that this fragrance is getting discontinued or at least limited in its distribution. Last year, I’ve also talked to some sales assistants in different parts of the world (Berlin, Dubai, San Francisco,...) who told me that they are out of stock without knowing if and when it’s going to be back in stock. Since there was practically no way to try it, I’ve made a blind buy online. Because it’s still in stock online (European Dior Website).

Everyone in the community knows that blind buys can go pretty right or pretty wrong. In my case I’m still not sure how to categorize this blind buy.

Upon the first spray on a paper tissue it reminded me on an old subway car with leather seats. It’s not really what I want to smell like. I got a similar first impression when I sprayed it on skin. However, on skin, the fragrance turns into something much more pleasant after 5 mins. And I actually can enjoy what I get after 5mins.

The scent is a very smooth leather with some florals (mainly iris and jasmine) to keep it balanced. This fragrance is not rough like Tom Fords Tuscan Leather and it’s not as sweet and gourmand like Valentino Uomo Intense or Dior Homme Intense. It has a tiny vintage vibe but still smells sophisticated and elegant. It’s unisex but for people 25+ years.

It’s a bit like a leather fragrance that was washed with a very high quality wash soap. So the florals do have a soapy appeal. However I find this fragrance also tiny bit animalic, due to the Jasmine, but this part of the fragrance never becomes dominant.

I don’t know if Dior changed the formula but I cannot confirm that this fragrance is filling a room. It projects nicely for a while and stays on skin for 8h (maybe even a bit longer) but it’s not beastly.

I have grown to like Cuir Cannage and I’m happy that it’s in my collection. But everyone has to decide for herself/himself if it’s worth 200€.
