Jazz Lounge
Background story:

My background story of Jazz Club is the same as my background story of By the fireplace (i've written a review for this one as well): I tried them at the same time. I liked both at the same time. I bought both at the same time.

Things about Jazz Club that come in my mind:

- boozy, elegant, masculin, non-smoky tobacco, going out, inviting
- I would say its more appropriate in a Lounge atmosphere than in club atmosphere
- Can be worn in any season of the year but in my opinion too strong for high heat and too weak for extreme cold. Fall fits best.
- more appropriate for casual wear because of the boozy qualities
- I usually do not more than 5 sprays but I can imagine up to 7 sprays in outdoor scenarios.

Scent:
- I do see some similarities to D&G The One. But the are not redundant by any means.
- The scent is quite linear on my skin: starts as boozy tobacco and finishs as boozy tobacco

Subjective rating: 8.5
I am a big fan of this one. It is my favorite from Maison Margiela although I have to admit that I find By the fireplace more unique and more complex. It is just that kind of scent that I can imagine smelling all the time.

Objective rating: 8.5
As I mentioned before, Jazz Club is not redundant to D&G The One but shares some nuances. I see Jazz Club beeing a people pleaser as well as The One is.

Longevity:

I don't know if its just the Maison Margiela DNA but I do get noseblind to Jazz Club as well as I do get noseblind to By the fireplace after 2...3h. However I have tested it over night and it was weaker than by the fireplace but still detectable after the night. I'm giving it 8h.

rating: 8

Sillage:
I do smell it until I get noseblind but outgoing from the reactions of others, I would say the sillage is there for 2.5...3h. The scentcloud itself seems less dense as By the fireplace.

rating: 6

Bottle/packaging:
Copy & Paste from By the fireplace:
"I do find the whole concept of the replica line fantastic. I do like the creativity that Maison Margiela put in their scents as well as in their labels. There is only one downside in my opinion: the missing cap. I don't understand why some brands don't have caps on their products. For example: I'm travelling a lot and of course I do want to take one or two fragrances with we. For me, it's a reason to not take a fragrance on a trip if there is a risk that it sprays accidentally in my luggage.

rating: 8 (9 minus 1 because of the missing cap)"

Roasted chestnuts surrounded by marshmellows
Background story:

There is no extensive background story: I tried it. I liked it. I picked it up the other day.

Things about By the Fireplace that come in my mind:

- name fits perfectly and captures the intended scenario: campfire (smoky), roasted (chest)nuts, marshmellows, sweet, slightly fruity, cozy, warm, inviting, intimate, unique but easy to like
- for autumn and mild winterdays, maybe appropriate on spring evenings as well
- I would recommend casual wear preferably. Could work wonders on a second or third date as well.
- I would wear 3-4 sprays on average but not more than 5.

Scent:
- starts off quite smoky (BBQ-ish), but the smoke tones down after 5 mins while never really fading away
- chestnuts and vanilla start to take over control after 5 min till the end of lifetime
- some fruity nuances are detectable every here and there during the lifetime of the fragrance

subjective rating: 8
I really do like the scent, especially after the first 5-10 mins when the gourmandish notes start to shine. However, By the fireplace is not in my Top 10 favorite fragrances either. It is a strong Like that sometimes flirts with the Love-Category.

objective rating: 7.5
I do see myself not to far away from the average person. However, some peoply might shy away from the smoky opening. Although there are some gourmandish elements, I don't see this fragrance beeing a gourmand as well as I don't those elements off-putting to some people as other gourmand fragrances sometimes do.

Longevity:

I usually get 8...8.5h of longevity which is good for a sweet fragrance but not impressive either. I want to mention that I seem to get nose-blind to this fragrance after 2 ... 3h. So I tested the longevity over night and it was still there the next morning.

rating: 8

Sillage:

I do notice the fragrance quite strongly for the first 2h. However, as I mentioned before, I do get nose-blind to that fragrance even if I try smelling it closer to the skin while it is still there. From the reactions of others I would expect that the sillage stays for 3 ... 3.5h.

Rating: 7

One word: Powerful
Background story:
Tobacco oud was one of the first private collection scents that I tried from any designer. Back then, I was quite new to the niche world of fragrances and "Tom Ford" was one of those impotant names that I have heard about but where I haven't had any further knowledge about them. Anyway, I was browsing in the internet about TF scents that I was potentially going to like and this was at a time when Tobacco Oud was hyped by a few Youtubers. Anyway, I decided to give this one my first TF try whenever I am going to get the next chance.
In August 2018, I went to Hamburg, Germany. It was more than 30°C/86°F outside and I went to the TF counter at the "Alsterhaus" in Hamburg to try Tobacco Oud. I have have to be honest, I disliked the fragrance at this moment like I never disliked any scent before. To me it was too dry, ashy, smoky...just badly overwhelming (I am a non-smoking person). Fortunatly, I kept the sprayed card with me and went back to the hotel to go to the pool and refresh myself. Before I went to the pool, I left the card in my room. I came back to the room about 90mins later and while I was opening the door I noticed a really nice and comforting but still meaningful smell in the room (20°C inside). As I found out, it was coming from the card. The lesson I learned that day is: the perception of scents is incredibly depending on the environment and the ambient conditions, where you are smelling it.
In October 2018, I went to London, tried Tobacco Oud again a few times, felt more and more in love with it and finally bought it at the Heathrow airport.

Things about Tobacco Oud that come in my mind:
- strong, rich, dark, powerful, mature, purposeful
- very polarising, statement-maker
- headache inducing at too high temperatures, incredibly pleasant at cooler temperatures
- only for autumn nights or wintertime (less than 15°C/59°F)
- best at formal events or in suit-and-tie scenarios
- max. 5 sprays (usually 3-4 is enough), don't spray clothes it will stick there forever
- opposite of a blind buy, should be tested serveral times in cooler environment
- has to grow on you, its beauty lies in the sillage and the dry down (smell it from a distance (30cm) & 1h after being sprayed)

Scent:
- starts with very dry and smoky tobacco (first 30mins)
- oud is there but never an overly dominant note during the whole lifetime
- after 1h some boozy elements come through and the tobacco becomes less dry (this is where the scent really starts to shine

subjective rating: 9
It has grown on me to this high rating because for me this is one of those scents that have immediately the ability to enhance my confidence and make me feel: strong, rich, dark, powerful, mature, purposeful
objective rating: 7
I do think its a highly polarising scent especially if you are smelling it for the first time. I do see more people liking it than disliking it but I am pretty sure that ratings will be on both sides of the spectrum

Longevity:
- Stays on my skin for at least 12h

rating: 10/10 (1p / 1hour)

Sillage:
I do notice it lingering around me after 5h.

rating: 10/10 (1p / 30mins)

Bottle/Packaging:
Typical TF Private Blend bottle. Not bad but nothing special either for this high price.

rating: 6/10

Summer Dream
Background story:

I tried this one for the first time when I was at Neiman Marcus in San Francisco in April 2018. It was beautiful weather outside and I was on vacation. I heard about VIW and its tropical, vacation vibes before. So I wanted to try it and wear it that day.
Upon the initial spray I knew that I am going to like this one but I had some reviews in my mind that stated that the longevity is quite poor. In addition to that, the prices of CREEDs in the US are insanly high compared to Europe. So I decided to not buy this one back then, although I didn't find the longevity and sillage too bad on my skin.
Back in Germany, I was searching for a happy vacation scent the whole summer of 2018. In September 2018 I decided to purchase VIW, which actually happened in April 2019. Until now, I have worn it enough to give you my review of VIW.

Things about VIW that come in my mind:

- summer, vacation, beach, cocktails, fun time
- I would only wear it casually and in the summer time in public but I discovered that it is able to create those vacation vibes at cooler and rainy days as well. So if you want to enhance your mood, try it for your private pleasure at those days as well.
- I usually wear 5-7 sprays (2-4 on skin + 2-3 on clothes)
- My batch (18G01) starts very citrusy but has a nice coconut base.
- if you do not like the smell of coconut this one is most likely not the right summer scent for you.
- I do see only very small similarities with the smell of suntan lotions. The scent of VIW is much more refined and luxurious

Scent:
- starts on my skin with a very fresh and natural smelling lime and only a few nuances of coconut
- coconut becomes more prominent after 30min
- after 2h: lime fades away and a coconutty boozy scent stays for the dry down

subjective rating: 10
The scent is an absolute winner for me. I love VIW for the vibes that it creates and I am definately going to make a rebuy once my bootle is empty.
objective rating: 8
Although I absolutely love the scent, I have to admit that you are only going to like it, if you like coconut. I wouldn't suggest a blind buy, try it on your skin for longevity reasons as well.

Longevity:
Fortunately I don't have problems with the longevity on my skin (maybe I was lucky with the batch). Even after 9h I can still smell faint trances, if I put my nose close to the skin. Longevity on clothes is even better (+2h). But I can imagine this being different with other batches as well as other skin chemistries.

rating: 10 for a fresh scent (1point/50mins)

Sillage:
The sillage is great for the first 90 mins but then it starts to fade. I still smell sillage after 2h. I would say it becomes a skin scent after 2,5 ...3h.

rating: 7 (1point/25mins)

Bottle/Packaging:
I do like the CREED bottles/packaging but I don't find it very special compared to other niche brands.

The first niche I've ever tried and now my first review
Background story:

I was in London at Selfridges about 2 years ago and PdM Layton was the first niche fragrance that I've ever smelled. I was wowed by the complexity as Layton manages to be fresh and sweet at the same time as well as the notes being so distinguishable and still the whole composition being so well-blended. It was an immediate buy for me.
So why not writing my first review about Layton?

Things about Layton that come in my mind:

- Maybe the best niche fragrance to start with
- very mass-appealing
- in my opinion not designer-ish, because of the complexity of the fragrance
- can be worn in spring, autumn and winter as well as cooler summer evenings/nights (spring & autumn fits best)
- can be worn at any occation -> I mostly wear it when it is important to leave a good first impression
- I usually wear 3-5 sprays

Scent:
- starts on my skin as a mix of apple and something almost minty, very fresh with a spicy undertone from the cardamon (first 2h)
- develops from a fresh to a woody vanilla scent while the spicy undertone stays (after 2h)

subjective rating: 9,5
objective rating: 8,5 (I do see most people liking this even if they are not frangrance enthusiasts)

Longevity:
- Layton stays on my skin for 9...10 hours

rating: 9,5

Sillage:
- it is still noticeable after 4 hours but I think it becomes a skin scent before the 5th hour

rating: 9

Bottle/Packaging:
- heavy bottle & cap

rating: 8,5
