"Let there be light !"
Montana Parfum D'Homme eau de toilette LIGHT !

It's an Eau de Toilette that comes in a gray "tower of babel" splash bottle in a Red Box. I can describe it as a stripped down, "air conditioned" version of Parfum D'Homme. With moderate performance for an EDT. Great for those who may want to wear Parfum D'Homme year round.

"Light" turns up the aldehydes and lavender, and turns down the herbs and spices of the original... Significantly. But carnation, pine, cinnamon, and even incense are still detectable to my nose. Although a lot less dense. There's not much "development" here to speak of etiher. But the macho character of the original -with it's labdanum, ambergris, and leather backbone, remains (mostly) intact. Happy that ! That slight animalic quality is what gives this warm weather scent it's unique Caché.

As for the legendary rugged "leather jacket man" imagery of the original? Sadly, this version just doesn't have the same impact. At best, the luminous glow of aldehydes may allude to the "brilliant" mind of the man inside the jacket, instead. LOL. But hey! If you already have the "brawn" of the Original... wouldn't you want the "brains" to go with it?

Recommended.

Especially since a 75ml bottle of this gem currently goes for $15 (USD). $15? For the Quality, that's just BONKERS !!

Do I have to?
Neo009, how cruel of you to ask me to choose between my Annick Menardo fragrances ! She is my favorite, and I love all her scents (including ones where she shares credit, with Cresp, or Morillas, etc.) I have them all.

The 1st similarity I find between the two, is what I call the Annick Menardo Factor: Where there's something quite bizzare, yet alluring about the scent. Her scents are compelling, if nothing else. Asied from that, these two are also both Sweet-Spicy-Dry Woody scents.

But Visit and Potion are very different.

Visit has a very artificial/synthetic quality (some may say harsh), which when married to a sweet nutmeg and heavy dry cedar, evokes the aura of an Alien "Visitor" from outer space landing in a forrest. I can't always get into this one, (and I never wear this one during the day, although one certainly can) but it's Fantastic at night when I'm in the mood for it. The quality is a little crude I have to admit. But what do you expect from the budget of an Azzaro fragrance, right?

Now, Potion has much better "quality". Subtle, yet complex. Translucent, yet rich. Not crude or harsh at all. It's also sweet and woody like Visit, but the spices and swetness has a medicinal tone that speaks of ancient roots and plants... Perhaps those that a Wiccan might use in making a magic potion. Very modern in it's smooth, see thru texture. Yet very mysterious and ancient in it's composition. Although I admit the projection for the EDT is too subtle for most fragrance fanatics, It's actually perfect for this scent IMO.

I love them both, But since girls don't really like Visit on me very much. And I have often gotten a firstly startled...then, a glazed over stare from girls when i wear Potion... (no joke)...

I would have to pick DSQUARED² Potion as the one I prefer. (Not that I prefer glazed over stares. lol)

Thanks for bringing up these two great Menardo scents, Neo009

: )

Hit and Run...
Surprising, (given it's name)... Bang! is more pensive than party! Yes, the initial "hit" is agressive, metallic, and all-kinds-of-peppery. But a rosy Pink Peppercorn (reminiscent of cinnamon tic-tacs) quickly segues to a more solemn, subdued Heart. From there, it's all dry coniferous Woods and Black Pepper -mellowed out by a dark velvety Resin in the background. A touch of Oakmoss, lends a mild but stately balsalmic tang... adding pungency and depth. A classy touch. But hardly enough to make the scent "complex".

Yet, Bang! is far from boring. The highlight being an "inky" Vetiver Root (a la Encre Noire) that contrasts nicely to make the glimmer of Pink Pepper, PoP! It's Edgy, but brooding. I dig it. It has neither the sweetness, nor the loudness of Spicebomb (the more popular competitor on the spice rack). In fact, Bang! operates in stealth most of the time. (it's presence felt, more by others than the wearer), and there is next to no sweetness at all (save for the aforementioned tic-tac allusion). Marc Jacobs makes a bold move with this mature and unlikely candidate (in the 2010 marketplace) -Amid a designer landscape of child-pacifying confections that pander to Gucci pocketbooks with bubble-gum taste.

I like "Bang!" in much the same way I like Gaultier's Kokorico. (I don't mean they smell alike). But their approach to "character", might come from the same "head space". Both equally uncomplicated, unconventional, and uncompromising in their sense of style. So, Bang! might be of interest to my fellow "Kokoricans" as well. Or at least to those who are not averse to a good dose of Pepper in their fragrance. Unexpectedly, this fragrance became a staple scent for me this past fall and winter. It may have taken a few innings, but ultimately...

BANG! ...hit a home run.

Longevity: 8/10(in base, as skin scent)
Projection(Fall temp): 6.0/10(in mid, stealthy)
Art/Creatives: 8.5/10 (bottle,concept,
composition)– the 50ml flacon stands
up more stable than the 100ml.lol
How: work,casual,dates,fall,winter,more
serious than playful, try layering it w/Encre
Noire for mutually added depth, anyone 25+.

There's something inherently Co0L...
about Moschino Forever...but it took me FOREVER, to "get" it !

Although i find this sweet and tangy mix, addictive, I can't compare it to any Chanel, or BoSS, or YSL L'Homme, like others have done. I know what they mean. But the mild plastiky quality to some accords in this juice (as others have mentioned), makes it altogether inferior... by comparison.

Nor can I join in to chastise it's cheaply molded "Gangsta Bling" presentation on the bottle -by comparing it to the 200 child-labor-hour flacon of Valentino Uomo. Which would indeed make this flimsy "Logo Cap" straight up "junk"... by comparison.

So, perhaps the only thing I CAN compare this to...

May be an irreverent Design house's (very wearable) production, of a dollar-store "Toy fragrance" ! One which brilliantly imitates and mocks all the popular brands others have compared it to.

In which case, Moschino Forever may simply be...

INcomparable !

(True to the spirit of Moschino, himself.)

and that's, pretty cool.

Longevity: 8/10(in base)
Projection(Fall temp): 7.5/10(in mid)
Art/Creatives: 7/10 (bottle,concept,
composition)– the 30ml flacon has
the best design proportions.
How: Casual,spring,fall,winter,
a date/nite out, cheeky, young and
"Sexy", very good performance.FuN.
for fans of Nathalie Lorson (like me).

Dear Doctor...
I'm not into sweet fragrances. But just like a "kid", I need a fix of candy now and then. That's what my "Rochas Man" and "Individuel" is for. But for some God forsaken reason, this Joop! "Splash"? ...O God, its like the Best candy EVER ! I think I may have a serious problem.

I find myself going to the cupboard first thing in the morning, last thing at night, (even in the middle of the night !) Just to sniff the damn thing, or to spray it all over.

I can't let go of the bottle, either. It looks like a glowing green shard from an iceberg, melting in my hand. I'm wearing out my fingers on that (highschool machine shop knurling job) on it's sNappY metal cap. Surely you agree, Doctor. I've gone SNAP-Happy !

I know it's aquatic in the most generic way. I know it's fruity in the most infantile way. Not to mention if there's wood in the base, it must have come from a discounted pile of used veneer with the glue still on the back. YET ! I find it fizzy and sparkling -like a favorite yet unnamed flavour of "Fanta"! I just can't help myself.

Please Doctor, tell me...

Have I lost all maturity?

Have I lost all taste?

HAVE I LOST MY MIND ?!!!

(sniff, sniff)
