The good time after the disappointment....
Although I have been a big fan of perfumes for a long time, I have never actively engaged in sniffing through all perfumes. Therefore, I have smelled new fragrances only by recommendation.

It was the same for me with Dior Sauvage. The only difference is, it was not a smell on recommendation but a buy. My first blind buy.

The acquaintance with Sauvage goes back to 2015, we met on a romantic cruise when we crossed the Strait of Gibraltar...

I was working as a tour operator and tour guide in Andalusia at the time. Once when I was in Tarifa with a group, we decided to book a day trip to Tangier/Morocco. We visited the historic Kasbah, the market stalls in the Medina, ate delicious Moroccan, bought plenty of Argan oil and started our return trip to Tarifa.

The ferry ride was 40-45 min, which was enough time for me to go on deck to feel the fresh breeze and enjoy the sunset. After that, I went to the duty free to sniff fragrances. An employee approached and I asked her what she would recommend. Her eyes lit up and full of enthusiasm she said "Dior Sauvage". She was blown away. She called out to the other two female employees and they had the same reaction.
Even I with my doubting nature was slightly taken with her enthusiasm. Were they really authentic praises or just a devilish sales pitch after all? The problem would have been solved, after all, if only they'd had a tester. Unfortunately, they didn't have one.
I then appealed to your conscience. I told her that she would be faced with a very very important and responsible decision. I said that if her recommendation did not please me, I could not trust a single woman again. With this I apparently hit a nerve, because at first she hesitated before the weight of this responsibility. However, after a moment's consideration, she put the package in my hand. Without thinking any further, I bought it.

So we met the first time, but I got to know the fragrance only a few days later at home. Because I had not yet opened the package.
I sprayed the first sprayer on my wrist. Would I still be able to trust the women?
OMG, what is this penetrating, pungent, giddy, synthetic scent? I never would have guessed that this gal had made a pact with the devil. xD
I didn't like the first impression at all. I was disappointed, by my new acquaintance and by the saleswoman. I put the bottle aside and smelled it maybe only every two weeks to make sure. And each time with the same result. Penetrating, pungent.

But sometime after a few months, my nose seems to have evolved and noticed other facets. Suddenly, I liked the scent a lot better and after continued wear, it was the perfume I reached for daily. With Sauvage, I learned to give acquaintances time and not to dismiss them directly, to try to get to know the acquaintance itself and not to squeeze the acquaintance into my own limited ideas. And that has enriched me.

Hoping to have made you think :)
LG

PS: I think it's definitely worth mentioning that Sauvage has the best sprayer ever. And the magnetic cap, which turns in by itself, is also great.

A new phase of life begins...
Since I have a strong emotional attachment to this fragrance, I rated the vintage scent. However, in sillage and durability the current fragrance. I can understand not liking this fragrance anymore. It's been worn so many times that it's worn out. However, I'm sure if all these reviews had been written in 2009/10, this gold bar would definitely have an 8 in front of the decimal point.

The year is 2008 and my time in community service was slowly coming to an end. I did not know exactly how it should go on with my life. Of course I wanted to study, but what exactly and especially where, I did not know. Therefore I wanted to give myself some time and decided to move to Madrid and learn Spanish. In the meantime I could think about what I wanted to study. But first I had to learn the language. Apart from "hola, como estás?", "muy bien, gracias" I didn't know a word of Spanish. I enrolled directly in language school at one of the biggest unis in Europe, the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

I remember one event very clearly. I was studying in the library. Suddenly, a beautiful girl caught my eye. Brunette, green eyes... a dream. I had a hard time approaching her, so I took advantage of my poor Spanish skills to ask her if she could explain the assignment to me. While she was explaining the task to me and I didn't really understand anything ? I looked at her. My heart was pounding, should I ask her out on a date? However, I could not overcome my fear and I returned to my table. After that, I never saw her again. A wasted chance.

To improve my listening comprehension as well, I watched documentaries, movies, series and quiz shows on TV. During the commercial breaks, the commercial of this one gold bar caught my eye. The commercial made me so curious about the scent that I had to try it. I went to the nearest mall and sprayed it on a test strip. OMG what an incredible top note. Wonderfully citrusy and spicy. I had never smelled anything like it. So tangy, sexy, seductive. I bought it directly.

I didn't realize I had landed in the student paradise of Europe. I grew up in a small town and at the time I was still very shy. Which is not to say that I couldn't speak two sentences to strangers, but neither was I actively looking for conversation. Madrid a lively, vibrant city, the nirvana of Erasmus students. The crowded bars in La Latina, the alternative neighborhood of Malasaña, the former club Pachá in Tribunal. Just the right city to come out of my shell.

Through my improving Spanish skills and especially through the compliments I got because of the perfume, I became much more self-confident and I found it much easier to approach people
With my friends from the Spanish course we met every evening in large-organized botellones. What an atmosphere! At least 1000 young people in a square near La Latina, people talked in groups, some many danced, some others enjoyed other facets of youthful curiosity. I met so many different people, with different beliefs, different world views, different dreams. It was a very enriching time for me. I associate all of this with fragrance and my first stage in my new life.

One million for me is Madrid, new exciting experiences, vibrant nights, evenings full of emotions, and of course football ?

A masterpiece of the art of fragrance
Although I have been a part of this wonderful community for quite some time, I have enjoyed the evolution of perfumes and fragrance enthusiasts from the background. Eventually, a friend had to give me a push to share my perfume experiences.

I didn't know exactly which perfume to start my commentary journey with. The fact that I'm starting this journey with a masterpiece as complex as AAAP is a statement. And at least as much of a statement is the fragrance itself.

With this exceptionally well composed fragrance, one shows presence. Through the very strong sillage you make yourself directly noticeable. However, this presence is not tainted by inferiority complexes. This fragrance has nothing to prove. He is simply so majestic that you can only bow.

The fragrance opens with an orchestra of light citrusy spicy accord, of an oud-amber-patchouli composition and joined by the floral components. Over time, the floral components emerge in the heart notes. After about two hours, the spicy flattens out and a slight sweetness from the sandalwood makes itself known, giving the scent a soft and very pleasant touch. Through all these phases, I always had a feeling of a very balanced composition, although in the beginning the fragrance notes were much stronger.

Very much joy to smell I have only in the Drydown, when the fragrance begins to soften. Exactly then shows the extremely pleasant for me oriental-floral facet.

A wonderful-majestic fragrance!
