Freshness with many facets
Bleu de Chanel opens with a triad of spicy oranges, a spicy lemon, and spicy grapefruit to a very fresh looking citric rendezvous. This is quickly joined by warm pink peppercorns and ripe peppermint, accompanied by vetiver and a hint of cedar. In the course of further development I perceive a beautiful spicy nutmeg note and a penetrating ginger bedded on a cloud of sweet jasmine. During the following hours the fragrance dries to its predominantly woody base. This process is complemented by patchouli with light pepper, herbs, vetiver with an earthy grass note and radiant labdanum. The resulting fragrance impression, which now gives the EDT a sweet-salty, vegetable and mossy facet, lasts between 6 and 7 hours depending on the weather. The projection can be classified as pleasantly restrained during the entire wearing period.

Bleu de Chanel is an extremely versatile fragrance that can most likely be worn at any time of the year. It has more depth and more different facets than most other fragrances of the same genre.

If you are looking for a sophisticated fresh fragrance, you will surely find it here.

All disco or what
Jovan Sex Appeal opens very citrically with a good dash of bergamot and lemon aroma but then drifts relatively quickly into a mixture of lavender, clove, vetiver and patchouli accompanied by a hint of sandalwood. After half an hour, the scent split into two camps. On one side it is a very citric chypre and on the other a spicy oriental. When it dries, however, the fragrance tends towards the oriental side and a scent of smooth, warm patchouli, wood, musk and spices determines the base note. The durability is with me with considerable 8 hours with a projection which can be evaluated as average.
In his whole way I classify Jovan Sex Appeal as handcrafted rather than rough and simply embroidered. Also the used ingredients do not smell for me necessarily too valuable. Despite everything I could imagine that Sex Appeal had its reason for existence in the disco time of the 70's/80's, in particular also because of the very favorable price. Today, if it has to be this fragrance, I would rather go for Guerlain Héritage, because this perfume is finer and more harmonious.

Oh, how good is he?
When I bought Dhanal Oud Nashwah from the souk, it was actually only a supplementary scent to make the ratio bottle/shipping cost a bit more reasonable. At first I was skeptical about the concentrated charge of oud in the fragrance pyramid, which is indicated both in the head and heart notes and for the base note. So it was an absolute blind purchase. The ratings in Community were very good and so I was very curious what would come. At that time I never thought that Dhanal Oud Nashwah would become one of my favourite fragrances from the oriental corner.
Already after the first spraying the fragrance shows its true strength. A lot of oud dressed in a wonderfully warm shisha honey tobacco note and a hint of slightly animalistic leather spread out. In the background, the scent scenario is accompanied by a strong but fresh wood smoke aroma, which smells very natural to me, and which never looks hot or even musty. Over time, the oud used merges with the smoke to create a delicious spicy, minimal earthy overall composition. I'd almost describe it a bit like oud incense if there was such a thing. This fragrance impression does not change, except in the decreasing intensity, until it is completely dry. In total, I take the scent on my skin for a very long 9 hours, with an arm-length projection, which seems perfectly measured for me with this scent, true.
Sceptics of oud should be told that the oud used here is not perceived as faecal or medically bitter.
Due to the smoky heaviness of Dhanal Oud Nashwah I recommend the use rather in the cold season with a nice cup of tea.
If you like sweet incense / water pipe scents with a very slightly animal element of oud and leather, you can access it here without hesitation, especially since the price for such a remarkable scent is small.

Vintage meets modernity
John Varvato's Vintage opens with a rigorous very soapy juniper, enriched with bergamot, chamomile, lavender and basil. The foundation of this mixture forms at this time a lightly acting moss chord. After half an hour, the fragrance slowly enters the heart phase. Patchouli, exquisite fir resins and other woody aromas on the one hand, and a spicy jasmine note on the other, which perfectly combines the woody soap green with a dry floral aspect.
The base of Vintage is incredibly densely woven with oakmoss, tonka bean, suede and even tobacco. Now the fragrance appears deceptively light and clean, accompanied by a hint of balsamic, creamy smoke. The more vintage dries off, the more wooden aromas prevail and give the fragrance a mild, gentle aftertaste that ends after about 6 hours on my skin.
The ingredients used for Vintage make a high-quality, natural impression. It seems that Ambroxan and Norlimbanol were deliberately avoided in the composition in order to make the fragrance experience as natural as possible.
Vintage is a recommendation for the mature gentleman who is olfactory at home in the 80s, but also appreciates more modern aspects of a perfume. Whoever can't come to terms with the subject of soap moss/wood Fougère is probably badly served with this fragrance.

The nightclub fragrance
Hardly any other perfume is able to give me the impression of a hip nightclub in the middle of Havana.
Woody aromas are mixed there with spices, alcohol and tobacco accompanied by an animal-like base to create an olfactory impression that fits perfectly into the lively, exotic nightlife of this Caribbean metropolis.
Immediately after spraying Replica - Jazz Club starts with a peppery citrus chord. After a few minutes, caused by a BarberShop-like vetiver note, I dive into the earthier parts of the fragrance. An intoxicating, dark, sweet rum supported by a hint of sage is added to create the incomparable club atmosphere. In further development, the fragrance begins to dry and leaves an aroma of dry vanilla styrax enriched with Iso E Super, which now almost smells like the wooden interior of the nightclub. At the very end, all the aromas seem to come back for a rendezvous. Alcohol, candied tobacco, the wooden club chairs and a minimal sweaty note round off the olfactory experience in a pleasant way.
Admittedly, I have already smelled more beautiful Bay Rum or even better cherry tobacco, but the combination of the described ingredients produces a unique smell, which I smelled for the first time here.
The durability on my skin is unfortunately only average and the projection is interestingly also not really strong, as you might assume. Since I would apply the scent anyway only for nocturnal rambles, the durability, which is with me with about 6 hours, is also no issue.
I cannot share the classification as unisex perfume and see Replica - Jazz Club as a thoroughly masculine fragrance.
