It's a pleasure!
Quote: "For good fragrances you do not have to spend a fortune. There are also for little money excellent perfumes, which are in no way inferior to the expensive products."

When I read statements like this, I usually react with rolling eyes and a hint of surrender. After a thousand tested men's fragrances and after more than a hundred purchased bottles, I have come to the conclusion that quality costs money. But let the gentlemen quietly make their experiences, I think to myself then.

It reminds me of my experiences with wines or teas.

Example: Dealers who sell southern European wines like to be carried away to statements like: "For a tenth of the price of a Bordeaux wine, you get a wine here that is in no way inferior to its more expensive colleague." Not so! Anyone who has ever drunk a well-matured, excellent Bordeaux will know what I mean.

And yet:

There are them, the exceptions. Although you have to invest, until you find them, a small fortune and a lot of time for research, but they exist.

(At the time, I discovered an excellent red wine from the Pic St. Loup in southern France. "Cuvee Ste. Agnes 1999" was the name of the wine. It was offered for 9.90 euros and I bought 44 (!) Bottles, each of which I drank with great pleasure or gave away.)

And as for men's fragrances, I know of no three pieces for under 50, - Euro/100ml, of which I could say that I would also pay 150, - Euro for it. But there are, these Trouvallien. Here, by the way, I also had to spend a small fortune on research until I discovered them. But the way yes is at least a pleasurable part of the goal.

And "Pleasures" is one of those rare gems.

For me, the entire product is perfect! It starts with the bottle. The is high quality, tasteful, is rich in the hand and can be used well.

And the fragrance could hardly be more beautiful:

Freshness paired with tart, floral ozone. Incredibly well matched and a pleasure for the nose. Everything is round, nothing stands out. Much more description I do not want to succeed. Because every ingredient is perfectly integrated. Neither the citrus notes, nor the spices, nor the woods stand out. The scent is round, satisfying and high quality. And it wears really well.

Yes, they exist, the cheap, good fragrances. Which are not only somehow okay (of which I could name dozens), but which completely satisfy my nose.

A real pleasure!

PS.
By the way, the fragrance has been reformulated. I used him in the past for years. But so I have him not in memory. The sky air accord has always been there. But the ozone seems new to me and it embeds perfectly into the fragrance.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Addendum in March 2022:
A new bottle has moved in. With great pleasure I note that the reformulation has been reversed. Perhaps the last bottle was also just a batch variation. In any case, the fragrance is now exactly as before: bright, clear, friendly and fresh ... without the ozonige florality.

Sublime 4711 and the beautiful neighbour.
There are two reasons why I do not have a bottle of the wonderfully refreshing 4711 Original Eau de Cologne in my collection:

Firstly, its orange blossom reminds me of a fragrance for older ladies.
And secondly, this classic does not have a significant durability.

F. Kurkdjan takes up the chord from 4711 with Petit Matin, giving it something modern. The orange blossom, here not at all stale, is clearly in the foreground.

I had taken good note of this at the time. Nevertheless, the fragrance was not worth a comment to me, let alone a purchase.

But the pocket atomizer stayed in my "You never know tester - collection", which usually contains between 20 and 30 specimens.

It was very hot last Wednesday. Over 35 degrees. After the home office I swung myself, dressed in shorts and T-shirt, into the garden, which I am responsible for. There were trees to irrigate and weeds to kill.

After an hour and a half I was sitting in my apartment again, satisfied, thirsty and very hungry. Then it shot through my head: Sushi!
Due to Corona, I refrained from ordering raw food for months. But now it had to be done.

After I had placed the order, I noticed that I now smelled a lot (!) of sweat after the work was done and that I had to pick up my delivery on the ground floor and cross the whole house in the process.

It would have been uncomfortable for me to step under the nose of my new beautiful neighbor or anyone else with such a scent flag. So I decided to wear strong perfume. It was too late for taking a shower, as experience shows that the supplier rings the bell exactly when you have just soaped yourself up.

My Freshman would have been the perfect scent for this. It harmonizes very well with my sweat. But I already wore Freshman all day long. So I remembered Petit Matin. It should also work for my purposes

A few sprayers later I was astonished how beautiful the scent shows in the heat. The orange blossom is powerfully set in scene. Nevertheless, it is not pompous, but crisp and fresh.

I have the suspicion that not only the clean musk has a synthesis background. Everything here is suspiciously fresh and crisp

But the synthetic is, as already with Kurkdjans Aqua Universalis, very pleasant. Not annoying at all, but refreshing, sparkling, clean, citric, at the same time soft and tender.

While running downstairs I actually met the new beautiful neighbour. Her nostrils trembled slightly when she smiled at me. The fact that she asked me about my scent and I showed her my perfume collection should now only be a question of a few days

It's great to wear a fragrance that suits the weather and makes you feel totally comfortable. Petit Matin is one of those. For me, only on hot days, but still.

However, should the coronal situation allow a trip to tropical regions: I'll take him with me.

The fragrance for billionaires
This is not about Russian oligarchs or swank-loving pseudo billionaires. No, I'm thinking more of those who, due to their financial possibilities and their busy schedules, basically want only one thing:

The best, and stress-free.

The billionaire I have in mind does not want everyone in the same room or in first class to notice his perfume immediately. He also doesn't want his perfume to shine or even destabilize panties.

No, he just wants to smell perfect. Not like everybody, that goes without saying. And with every breath he takes, he wants to perceive a scent that pleases him, that makes him feel good.

Erolfa is the absolutely perfectly balanced fragrance for the summer. It does not scratch, bite or prick, does not strain, does not strike the stomach and does not take itself too seriously.

He's just there. It's as natural as if he'd always been there. He caresses the nose without coming on to me. He's perfect without being pretentious. He's persistent without being pushy

It smells in a way that makes a summer day at the sea, in the city or at the airport pleasant: light, refreshing, bright, natural, clean-synthetic. It smells a little bit like the sea, salt in the air, and a perfect blend of citrus fruits, flowers and woods.

It's the only Creed I haven't met yet. A dear perfumo colleague had sold me a bottling once without knowing that it was tilted and that what he always thought was Erolfa was just a distorted mask of Erolfa.

Also in the perfumery trade they maltreated me with a version that was the victim of bright spotlights and time gone by.

But now I finally have a fresh bottling in my hands and I am quite astonished that such a fine fragrance is rated so highly that Bruno Banani & Co. easily surpassed it.

I have to assume that several tilted versions are not entirely innocent of this. But maybe also some noses that are less into subtle but more into powerful scents.

I still have difficulty with the price. After all, I do not belong to the group of people mentioned above. 100ml for 180 Euro, that would still work. But 100ml are too much. Before I get it empty, the fragrance is tilted three times. And 130,- Euro for 50ml are a bit steep. For a light summer scent and for non-billionaires.

A signature scent for all occasions
Since I like to miss trends, I have only just discovered Santal 33.

That's what you get when you just rely on your own nose and give influencers a wide berth. Otherwise I would have long since realized that this fragrance has an exclusive fan base.

Seisdrum. Santal 33 convinced me right away. I love sandalwood and I perceive it clearly here. Especially in the top note

The ensuing cocktail of aromas is so diverse that individual odours are difficult to identify. I don't even know if the pleasant sweetness is fig or if a sweet fig aroma of wood and synthetics results.

In any case, I perceive dry wood, dill, honeydew melon, fig, iso-E super and also a fine ambroxan freshness.

The fragrance is round, pleasant and absolutely convincing. It is a very attractive and appealing blend, which I can imagine mainly on a man. Very attractive, but not ingratiating and not pushy either.

The field of application of the fragrance is manifold. I hardly know any other fragrance that can be used so universally. From the office to leisure time to the evening rendezvous. From spring to autumn, maybe even to winter.

A perfect signature scent when you are looking for the one for all occasions.

A juicy treat.
Up to now, I have actually avoided the high-priced perfumes of this producer. And this, although I have a high regard for Roja's vetiver. But you can overdo it in terms of price.

And then this dog with his perfume colognes came around the corner.
By the way: What is a "Parfum-Cologne"? I have known: Eau de Cologne, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum as well as Parfum. But please what is a Perfume Cologne? "Would he need it now?" the Bavarian would ask

But he got me. The dog. With his vetiver. And since I can hardly get myself together because of all the joy about this perfume Cologne, I was practically forced to give other candidates of this series a chance. And the Elysium wiggled its butt so much that I couldn't get around a sample.

I can imagine, by the way, that I adjust my opinion about this fragrance again in the warm season, because it seems to be made for this time of the year.

And I have also long suspected that there is a drug that encapsulates ingredients only to release them slowly. Nasomatto's "Silver Musk" is such a typical candidate. One sprays, smells almost nothing, only to discover in the course of time that one is wearing a fragrance after all.

And also at Elysium the scent seems suspicious to me. But from the beginning:

At the beginning it is a bit turbulent. A lot of citrus fruit in the top note. And since there is also some smokiness, I am not surprised that attentive observers point to similarities with Aventus.

But then Elysium turns in another direction. I smell a sauna that was used yesterday. Wood mixes with essential oils and cold lava rock. Musk and sweet, red berries give a touch of arbitrary mainstream, but in unusual variety.

Soon the scent settles down and it becomes clear where it is heading: The woody smokiness, the berry sweetness and the light musk are the carpet on which the juiciest and tastiest grapefruit you can imagine is spread. Fresh, bright, transparent, refreshing and very high quality, combined with musk. This is really fun!

And this grapefruit lasts a very long time. This is unusual, because normally these citrus fruits evaporate quickly. They are therefore not really suitable as a base grade. But here the world is upside down and Elysium flows into this brilliant citrus fruit. And therefore I am of the opinion that this scent has been encapsulated somehow. Their actual volatility can be studied well with some other grapefruit scents, whose first sprayer has already evaporated by the third sprayer.

Although the shelf life of this grapefruit is brilliant, its radiance is somewhat restrained at this stage. I can smell myself from time to time, but I don't think that there is still a lot that gets out.

If you want to know my opinion about the Roja prizes, please read my Vetiver commi. (Short summary: grrrrr!!!!) But the scents have class. And Elysium is really beautiful
