A magical orange grove
Red oranges dominate the opening but are seasoned with Cinnamon, Ginger and Cardamom in a bitter-sweet accord that immerses us in elegance and class. Very interesting how the floral accord in the middle begins shortly after to accentuate the sweetness and structure an entire raw material of great quality. A citrus that is not acidic and vibrant but sensual and smooth – like a sublime love affair.
The accord orchestra is perfectly accompanied by a base featuring natural vanilla (not vanillin) that accentuates emotions and transforms it into a romantic fragrance for romantics. Base that is a very refined composition of balsamic-sweet tones, warm velvety tones of resin and wood. However, the fantastic persistence of the trio blood orange, wild orange and bitter orange throughout the development always hovers around us and subtly touches us like a seductive melody in our deep olfactory memory. As if I laid my head on the lap of a beautiful woman under a magical orange grove where Alice has not yet passed. All in perfect harmony.

Countryside landscape with yellow flowers
The citrus opening with green apples and the yellow flowers of a wild field bring back good memories.
I associate the aroma with a vacation in Ibiza in the summer of 1978. After arriving at the port, I headed towards the San Mateo region in the interior of the island, to the house of a friend who had invited me to stay.
It was a wilder and more primitive part of the island, and while I was looking for my host's house, the paths became increasingly narrow, confusing, dirt, inhospitable or absent. As if I was penetrating a territory located in another dimension. At the same time the rest of the world was getting further away. I remember passing in a depression in the ground (almost a large grave) where some very old women, dressed in dark, but silent and smiling, were handling fruit in the cool shade of a stone house next to an apple orchard. There were baskets of lemons and dried figs on the dirt floor.
Shortly after, I passed through some brooms and ended up, at a certain moment, already lost and not knowing where I was, on a small plateau that seemed to have its origin in the vibrant blue horizon of the midday sky. The warm aroma of fig leaves arrived from afar and the song of cicadas fell sharply on the inhospitable soil covered by low plants but resistant to adverse weather conditions. I wandered among tufts of gorse and marigolds that spread out like a yellow carpet exhaling a scent of earth, thistles and chamomile. As the heat was very high, the shimmer of the air made everything less clear near the ground.
A little further away, emerging from the horizon, a white house with no roof began to materialize, completing the surreal landscape.
A blue and yellow watercolor with a white dot in the middle.

The glorious days of the Maharajas
An addictive delight: floral, oriental with a sweet and spicy vanilla with a woody resinous and smoky amber accords. Silage is moderate and has a longevity that exceeds 12 hours. The price is affordable for the size and quality.
It opens with an exuberant floral champaca vibe imbued with spicy, sweet, ambery and softly smoky nuances.
After a while rises a sweet, smoky and golden base of amber and resinous benzoin mixed with incense smoke of sweet myrrh and dry sandalwood. Then comes the heliotrope and the balm of Tolu to give it a “powdery” facet.
The sweet (benzoin) and spicy side gains prominence while the champaca moves to a more distant plane. The smoky opoponax has a slight molasses vibe, is slightly woody and has a very resinous scent too. The “powdery” facet disappears and after 2 hours the amber takes the lead side by side with a “Guerlain” vanilla.
In the final hours Empire des Indes oscillates between spicy and smoky woody coated with vanilla and amber, and creamy and silky vanilla with a hint of wood sprinkled with vanilla poder, incense and cloves.
A beautiful blend of smoky, woody, spicy, resinous and gourmand amber with incense. A Tolu balm that attracts, because the sweetness is not cloying and because it is counterbalanced by contrasting dark elements, particularly spice and smoke.
Definitely a (alternative) cousin of the vintage Musc Ravageur. I think it will have an auspicious future with many laudatory reviews. Recommended.

The scent of the sun.
Enceladus is a satellite of Saturn, known for having an activity that is still difficult to explain today. It has geysers on the surface and recent observations have confirmed the presence of an ocean of liquid water under the surface. It is covered with a layer of bluish-white tones, characteristic of the snow that is estimated to be 100 meters thick, indicating that it has snowed for at least 100 million years.
Encelad is also the name of a giant in Greek mythology, defeated by Athena, during the war of the gods against the giants, and buried under the island of Sicily.

Encelade appears after Ganymede - a “star” of the great magnitude. So life is difficult and Encelade suffers the shadow projected by the Ganymede. My initial reaction to a sample was denial. I said to myself: if I already have Ganymede, which is a masterpiece, why buy Encelade? But when I made na Encelade full wear I was surprised and surrendered.
First I realized that we cannot compare both as they are really two different “worlds”. Ganymede is freshest, floral, and smoothest like a bright morning. Encelade is more earthy, opulent and sensual – best suited for late-day and night romantic encounters. They complement each other and do not compete with each other. Both take place and are part of the balance of our planetary system.
I also had a pleasant sensation because my olfactory memory detected a Vetiver with a vibe similar to another fragrance with Vetiver that brought back beautiful memories of my youth. I think it would be the original Carven's Vetiver because I don't think it resembles Guerlain's Vetiver as it had a tobacco note (which no longer exists in the current version). This touch probably has to do with the combination of Vetiver with Rhubarb and Cedar.
Some people compare it to the Declaration (Cartier), others find similarities with Journey Man (Amouage), others with Terra Essence, or TF F Fabulous or even Rasasi Shuhrah. So many hypotheses cancel each other out. A sign that it will only look like itself.

It opens with a slight acidity of a green apple on a velvety and vanillic background. The sandalwood side by side with the cedar project a solar atmosphere – almost musical – that makes people's heads turn (“compliments rained”).
A dense composition with above-average projection and longevity.
A must-have, lending us to the leather and wood aura of the great perfumes of the past and, at the same time, a fruity and sweet modernity.
It transmits to us a green and generous joy. A green leather, a green from woods.
A moss leather, a fruit leather, rhubarb, a bitter and sweet juice that awakens the senses. A golden leather that must smell like the sun. A sun that is the antithesis of the snow on the planet Encelade. A sun that shines at night and smells like kisses on skin.

Countryside landscape
I imagine myself inside the peace of a rural landscape that includes a stable with harness and saddles stowed to an open door on a hill where the fresh smell of flowers and hay comes from, carried by the early afternoon breeze. The buzz of cicadas echoes in the distance in the serenity of the horizon. I sat on a small bench in the shade of a resinous wood of a leafy tree. Next to it, there are a bunch of blood oranges already semi-dehydrated, waiting to be made into homemade jam, which give off a slightly bitter but pleasant aroma.
I kept a slice of a fragrant orange that I carried in my pocket. Its sweetness rests on the roof of my mouth.
