John Malkovich
This fragrance is perfection for me. But it is another form of perfection: the imperfect variety. There is a perfection that hurts me almost physically, because a strong uniformity, the glide of the thoughts and eyes, in the case nose, no counterpoint.
Here, on the other hand, there are stones in the way, corners and edges touch me, a story is told, my head cinema starts. Wonderful! So mussss for me perfume be. Stimulating, inventive, indulgent.

And that's exactly how I felt about John Malkovich in Dangerous Liaisons, 1988. I was fifteen and absolutely drawn into this drama (actually an epistolary novel) by Pierre-Ambroise-François Choderlos de Laclos. It's roughly about intrigue, love affairs, love and death.
The Vicomte Sébastien de Valmont (J.Malkovich) represents a lustful womanizer who wants to conquer love in playful intrigues. But ultimately he does not succeed, because none of the protagonists (Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer, Uma Thurman) find happiness or redemption - only misfortune and death.
He embodies the viscount so impossibly well that you buy his every emotion. He is not a handsome man. Big, sticking-out ears, slightly crooked legs. But his smile, his movements are highly erotic, stunningly genuine, pleasurable and sensitive. He presents in this role everything forbidden that attracts a young girl. His cockiness is shockingly sexy and have caused me to watch the film many times and adore it to this day.
Set in the mid-1800s, it's a film full of gorgeous costumes, outstanding actresses, and a dense, suspenseful atmosphere.

To me, this erotic yet melancholic aura represents Dior Homme Intense.
He is for me a little out of time. Powdery sweetness from the ambrette seeds and iris reflect for me the powdered wigs, makeup and the hint of a slightly open mouth. It's big and engaging like the Vicomte and deep like love in all its beautiful and dramatic facets. There's something leathery about it for me that grows sweeter as it progresses: soft, lie-flat gloves of a lady exuding the sweet physicality of pleasure after a liaison. For me, Dior Homme is full of edges that make it so exciting. a complex, profound fragrance full of poetry. Lustful, warm and yet arrogant. A beautiful face with idiosyncrasies and a very erotic aura. A glimpse into the soul of the perfumer (François Demachy).
My John Malkovich of the eighties. Timeless and defining. I think he fits best in the autumn, because he tells the end of a story. A melancholy resonates with him, pointing to mortality and transience.

I wear the fragrance very much and find both sexes may and should enjoy it. With me, it develops vanillig-pudrig, sweet. It lasts a long time (8-10 hours) and is well perceivable.
He is one of my absolute favorites and my John Malkovich under the fragrances.

The gift
For my last birthday, my dad picked out this fragrance for me. I was not there, we live in different cities, it was a surprise. I always find it interesting and exciting what other people choose for you, what they associate with you. Anyway, I probably wouldn't have bought this fragrance on my own. Lie my preferences but rather in the warm, woody, sweet area.
I am nevertheless pleased every day at this gift, because my father is seriously ill and we are grateful for every reunion (certainly he also had help with the purchase).

The scent starts out very fresh-citrusy, but a mild freshness. I think it's the green tangerine that makes it start so deliciously. My mouth is watering a bit.... My first association is "freshly washed laundry drying in the garden". It has soaked up the sun and the scent of grass, clover and little flowers. Its dryness is spicy and summery.
It's a green scent that fits very well in spring and summer. But I can also see it on a slowly cooling late summer day. Refreshing, clean and very neat, it nestles against the first sweaters and cardigans that are dug out of the closet again. A peaceful walk, a pause and a visit to the café - everything is rounded with him. In fact, I spontaneously reached for it when I had a job interview and felt well-scented. As it progresses, it becomes woodier and warmer. The musk always floats along...until it fades out after about 6-7 hours (for me).
It is declared as a women's fragrance, which I do not subscribe to. I find him unisex and my son (early 20s wears him very much-I have already given him a bottling).

This gift has surprised me and pleases me especially, because of alone I would not have encountered this beautiful fragrance.

Italian summer
I haven't experienced a summer in Italy in a long time. However, I used to spend a fair amount of time in Italy...holidays on the Adriatic and later, as a young adult, I did a language course in Siena. Not only did I fall in love with an Italian, but I also fell in love with the country with all its sunny and shady sides. In the early nineties I worked in Rome for some time and it was a formative, intense period.
I find it hard to explain why I associate Candy so much with Italy. The fragrance is actually quite simple "knitted". Few ingredients are listed and certainly I have encountered more complex and sophisticated perfumes.
And yet, for me, it exudes this gentle, slightly caramel-salty aura that makes me revel. With my eyes closed, I stand by the sea and hear gentle waves, I walk across the
Campo di Fiori and breathe in flowers, fresh pastries and people. It is a longing that this delicate fragrance triggers in me. On the one hand, it gives me a sense of security through these soft, sweet hints of benzoin. On the other hand, it presents a beautiful, well-groomed Italian woman wearing expensive lipstick and moving elegantly through the alleys of Rome. Her hair is thick, shiny and gives off that appealing lipstick aroma. As I step closer to her I can sense a soft, subtle musk. I wish I could be by her side right now and have a cappuccino.
It's dolce vita for me - deep feelings of happiness spreading through my body. The sun on my face, a smile and candy on my skin.

A light summer breeze...
Angel Iced Star is a fragrance that has me quite spontaneously enticed to make a blind purchase.
I have not for a long time and must say, it is already exciting not to know what to expect.
I was pretty sure that it will fit, because Mugler fragrances develop on my skin very pleasant...exactly unexcited (for example, Alien is with me a delicate, erotic
Powder jasmine dream). Since I like Gourmands very much and Angel is a fragrance icon, I was curious about this summer variant. Have I heard and read but almost only good. Also, the scent notes are in line with my current taste and it's allowed to have some beach pinacolada feeling. I find it fits simply in the summer!

The fragrance came quickly and the bottle is really beautiful (if woman / man like it a little kitschy). Glitter and kitsch I find in moderation super. The bottle is stable on the shelf, which is an absolute plus. So the star sparkles wonderfully in green-blue-purple tones before itself.
He starts, as you would expect, very fruity. Pineapple and coconut are the main players. They form a happy dancing couple on the beach, with delicious pinacolada in hand. Loose, fluffy, sweet. Later, the scent becomes milder and creamier. The fruitiness gives way to a vanilla-coconut blend.
Now comes the point where I don't know if it convinces me: with all Mugler fragrances, I have a beautiful, long-lasting base. Actually, with the most beautiful thing with these perfumes. I miss that with Iced Star. It ends at some point, after about 6-7 hours, and then it's gone. No slow farewell.
I know from experience that some fragrances take several tries to win me over. I will try it at different temperatures and with appropriately prepared skin.

Overall, my personal conclusion is that it's a nice, happy summer scent. Rather close to the skin and not room filling. With average durability. From the character much lighter than its predecessors
