Spiced woods with a hint of plum
I heard this was getting discontinued and had to pick it up. Luckily I found my opportunity with a reliable eBay seller, but I feel bad for the people who are going to miss out on this absolute gem from Tom Ford. Plum Japonais to me is actually pretty weak on the plum. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still there, especially in the opening, but it mostly just comes and goes in wafts of slightly sour, purply sweetness throughout the life of the fragrance. What really carries the fragrance is a smoky wood, amber, and slight vanilla, spice, and liquor notes. Both parts of the fragrance independently smell great, but when they mix the scent is absolutely magical, I just wish it happened more often. I’ve noticed it the best personally when I’m walking and the wind is blowing on my back, carrying the spritz on my neck to my nose. Perfect for fall and early winter and I have no regrets with my purchase, and if you happen to have the opportunity to, try before you buy.

Mob boss in the whiskey lounge
Another classy Zoologist, but in a different way than I thought Rhino was classy. Instead of being a rhino skin rug on the floor of a rich man’s booze room, put yourself into the shoes of the rich man. Now hypothetically speaking let’s say this rich man is also a mob boss in a Sin City style movie where everything is intentionally black and white, except his red tie. Now, let’s also hypothetically say this man loves smoking nice wine flavored cigars. That’s what this fragrance smells like, an older, confident, but dangerous, man in an all black suit with a red tie who smokes wine flavored cigars in the rain. Is it abstract? Yeah. Did I not really do a good job describing the scent and more so described the feeling it gives me? Absolutely. But Civet is definitely one of the best works from Zoologist and deserves to be smelled by everyone at least once. Try before you buy.

Essence of the county fair
Bright and bubbly, the smell of a late summer fairground, and the feeling it gives you. This fragrance is nostalgic, not in the typical way where it’s something that you actually remember fondly, like a good tv show from your childhood or an old video game you used to really like. It’s more so nostalgic in an emotional way. It smells like the feeling of being a kid and going to your county fair with your family and friends and riding all the rides, buying dumb stuff from the stands, and getting delicious, and definitely not healthy, food from the carts scattered around. It’s happiness in a bottle, and that happiness smells like a cold, spiced, Coca-Cola. I clearly enjoy it quite a bit, but remember to try before you buy.

Dropped orange tootsie pop
Gallagher is back at it with another fragrance that reminds me of food and makes me hungry. This time I shall keep it short, sweet, and to the point. As this fragrance doesn’t need much of an explanation for why it is good, it just is. Behold Patchouli smells like what it tastes to reach the tootsie roll center of an orange tootsie pop. A real dark pulpy orange that smells like you just crushed it with your bare hands and sniffed the remaining rinds, smooth tootsie roll-esque chocolate, and some faint earthy, ambery, and honeyed touches to round it off. A great gourmand and a great all around cold weather scent, easy to recommend and easier to love, but try before you buy.

Distilled summer
This fragrance is summer incarnate. It smells like SunnyD, with what feels like a slight scent of sand and skin. It's sunlight in a bottle and can instantly bring up your mood if you smell it on a bad day. Very inoffensive, and is quite beautiful in its simplicity. Don’t forget to try before you buy.
