Aromatherapy with common weeping cherry
Listless. One of those mornings. On which the gray of everyday life weighed me down unbidden with a leaden heaviness.
The nasty alarm clock, to overemphasize its raison d'être, as always outrageously loud. (You a...! If you weren't also a phone and ticket....) The time, an imposition, also as usual.
When, contrary to the healthy
Impulse of the born late sleeper to press the snooze button a fifth time, I groaned and got up
That's when I realized.
I miss you. No, it's more than that. I can no longer do without you. Where does love end and become dependence? And was it ever love with you at all?
It doesn't matter at all. I need you.
Ever since I've known you. Despite your supposed unnaturalness, which put me off at first, despite or perhaps because of your classical origins (ancestors from Cologne).
My hand gropes feverishly in the dark for the little tube. Yesterday you were still there? Right here, next to my bed.
You pulled me up gently.
Smiling, no, beaming, you turned on the orange morning sun. Opened the door and window to a utopian spring. Led me along the path through an avenue of flowering weeping cherries. Gave me the deceptive feeling that I was freshly washed and that together you and I could, if not do everything, then at least do anything at all. We would shrug off the day's adversities with a serene smile. We would walk through the day arm in arm. And if my eyelids were to close at some point, you had matches at hand to help me out.
Grounded as you are, you helped me stay calm and remained with me as a friendly presence all day long.
As it got later, you surprisingly rang in the afternoon with a soft, spicy, smoky song...

Now I can feel the cold sweat breaking out. Where are you?!
I feverishly rummage through the pile of clothes next to the bed. Nothing.
Did you leave me in the middle of the night? Have you quietly rolled away to pull your cap in front of someone else? Turn your adorable spray head to someone else ? Oh dear, I didn't even remember your name! The tube with your essence falls to the floor with a soft "clack". It had got lost in a sock.
Tears of relief well up in my eyes. You are here.
The last little spray will have to do.
Then you'll get me through the day again.
The time has come. I want to own you, want you all for myself. I'm prepared to pay the price.
I happen to know that you can be bought, genie.
And I know your name.

The fact that I manage to empty a bottle completely, as is the case here with "Eau de Sens", actually happens very, very rarely. But there are a few perfumes that I can't stop wearing. These are the fragrances that actually do something for me, like aromatherapy.
Although I didn't really love Eau de Sens (it smelled a little too synthetic to me), I enjoyed wearing the fragrance in the morning and emptied the bottle in no time at all.
It starts with a fresh orange blossom scent, soon joined by other bright floral notes, a whiff of freshly washed laundry wafting from the line. The whole thing is underpinned by a soft, earthy patchouli note. This gives the fragrance a calming effect, prevents it from becoming too lively, grounds it and fixes the radiant orange of the O blossom on the skin. And that for many hours. Juniper provides a subtle spiciness and a hint of smoke, which surprisingly joins in after a few hours.
One spring day, I left the house unscented. Nevertheless, everything around me suddenly smelled of Eau de Sens. The somewhat synthetic note included. It took me a while to find the cause. At a certain time of year, the so-called common weeping cherry blossoms on trees near our house.
The scent is so similar to that of Eau de Sens that you could be forgiven for thinking that someone was scent-trapping and using a gas chromatograph.
On days when I'm tired, and there are a lot of them at this time of year, this fragrance wakes me up, cheers me up, keeps me alert and actually helps me through the day.
It makes me feel great and I get positive reactions to it.
However, it has a decent sillage, you can and should use it sparingly.
A surprise for me that this fragrance, which I initially found nice, but not so great, has become one of my most important, my favorites, my favorites on the perfume shelf. But it's exactly these surprises with fragrances that I love
Incidentally, I'm just about to empty a bottle of "Calicantus | Santa Maria Novella"......It remains exciting.

Witch Johnny
I would like to write about "witches' ointment", as the discussion about it so far has amused me greatly.
You want and expect the witch with excitement and who comes tapping out of the forest instead? Johnny, the idiot. (Also called "Liquorice Johnny" by Parfuma Brida in this context). If that's not a nice surprise ?!
What I have tested so far, initially with excitement, of "witch scents", has smelled disappointingly bitter and smoky and I didn't like it at all. Yes, Marieposa, who wrote "Hex sell's" was right. The name is appealing.
That's why I want to murmur in my sexiest Hexy voice: Johnny, where's the ointment? This midlife-crisis-plagued fifty-something is telling me in all seriousness that he's just had a shower in the woods...
With a witch?! I ask, struggling to overcome my jealousy. "No, with herbal shower cream," he grumbles, cool as usual, and I can't help but sniff him a little and pretend to take a selfie of us. He seems to be used to it and looks impassively into the camera with dilated pupils (he's eaten deadly nightshade?!). He smells pleasantly medicinal. Gentle. Like herbs. In fact, like the medicine cabinet with natural remedies mentioned by Charle Ambre. Very pleasant. I can't say whether he also applied Sauvage, as Scenteniell suspects. Never tested.
"Hex sell's" applies to me, Johnny doesn't.
Nevertheless, I'm a bit pleased about Johnny, here in the role of the Shaman.
Yesterday I smelled a sweet floral at the beginning, which I had attributed to tuberose. And belladonna, although I never sniffed any of them.
The fragrance is quiet, unobtrusive and complex. Woody, herbal, a tiny bit floral, delicately spicy. Not unlike a classic men's fragrance (Merida).
You expect the wild, a little bit crazy witch and get the nature-loving Johnny in an identity crisis, who has just retrained as an office clerk....ere are worse things - right? ;-)) I like it and the fragrance sparked my interest in the Stora Skuggan brand, as I immediately found it strikingly beautiful. After today's test, where the flowers have made themselves scarce and I only notice the herbal mixture, it will probably not be a candidate for purchase. Perhaps I will secretly spray it on my unscented husband once in a while. He'll cope better with it than he did with "Bandit (2012) (Eau de Parfum) | Robert Piguet". Also a great fragrance, but that's another story to be told another time....
Thanks for reading and have fun testing and discussing!

Scarlet for you
Hello neighbor ! I've just been kicked in the door. With the red one. What are you looking at? I could have gone for the old vintage door, it weighs a lot more. That would have made a bit more noise. I'm sorry about the kitchen wall in your new build, honestly. I actually wanted to do it from the other side...never mind! If we're going to get to know each other, then let's do it properly. I've already soaped myself up today and wallowed in white flowers in the garden, thinking about what I could wear to make a good impression on you
Look, my jacket with extra thick shoulder pads, and the high-water carrot pants. Yes, you could just about wear that in 1989. The red door also dates from that year.
All well thought out, you understand?
Sorry, can I dab the sweat from your forehead with some refreshing tissues? It still smells a lot like a new building here...I'll put some incense sticks on the black marble kitchen counter. You can light them later. You're welcome. By the way, I've also brought a Schüpre with me, well, I brought it on me. It's a bit old-fashioned perfume, you know. You can smell it despite all the flowers that have tumbled in with the door, right?
Ha! I can see the questioning look in your eyes. I wonder if there's more coming through that door, um, and the hole in the wall?.... Yes, damn it!
Your black and white kitchen is really ultra-modern and tastefully understated....I just want to add a tiny little accent, can I?!
"Honey, you can come in with the turf!" Like this. A meadow. In your house, yes! You have tears in your eyes. I can understand your emotion, ah. If only a neighbor had done that for me.
Look how it's blooming and greening here now. And the first bees are already buzzing in..." Will you bring the beehive, darling? Thank you!"
So, neighbor. From simple neighbor to honey producer in your own home. It can happen that quickly.
I almost have to cry a little for joy now.
For good measure, I'll juggle a bit of fruit for you, a little showstopper for your debut. Oops. Damn, that's hard to do with hot raspberries. I didn't think so...Ouch....No need to get excited, dear neighbor...
What do you mean by these gestures?
I see. But I've already walked through the raspberry mud. Never mind, you can eat off the floor anyway...
And because it's so nice, I'll rain a few kilos of blossom on you - Huiiii!!! So now I have to go. Sorry again about the wall. You can lean the red door against it if there's a draught.
I'll pick it up one of these days.
Yes, you don't have to say anything now - I was happy to do everything. See you around, it was nice.
Oh wait a minute. If you spontaneously fall in love with me because I have such good ideas and stuff, you can listen to "Something's got a Hold of my Heart" by Marc Almond and Gene Pitney. It's also from 1989, like the door. Here's the CD. It's only on loan!
To good neighborliness.
What a wonderful white flower scent.
You literally revel in a sea of blossoms. It smells very intense. But also lovely and cheerful and light, not heavy, pompous and oppressive, as it sometimes smells when you let the flora run free. It smells a little old-fashioned, aldehydic and soapy, even subtly chypry. Unlit incense sticks meet unsweet, red fruit. Sun shines on meadows and flowerbeds.
The newer version smells a little lighter and more modern than the old one. The old one booms even more, has more depth, is even more beautiful.

The imperfect beauty
Once upon a time there was number 5. And once upon a time there was an extremely popular , alleged nude sleeper. The sweet, curvy
Norma-Jean, alias Marylin, crush of many men, icon, legend...which breathed advertising-effectively, that she would like to take nothing but this number 5 with her in her bed..
Well, this number 5 never quite got me.... with its particular dark aldehydes at the beginning.... Unlike the number 22, the according to Chanel gentler successor fragrance and close relative of Chanel No 5.
The 22 snowed me by chance in the house It was a thoroughly surprising love at first sniff. The fragrance begins with soapy aldehydes. Fresh, floral-tart luxury soap, which scares some, but with me awakens the spirits...one smells a hint of lily of the valley, neroli, vetiver.... Gradually, the fragrance becomes calmer, gently creamy combine light orange neroli , fruity with a bit of rose and ylang ylang. Jasmine contributes a light, happy sweetness and vetiver provides nice, light astringency and keeps the scent from drifting into sweetness and cuteness. At this moment, the 22 is a gentle, good-humored, androgynous scent. Never powdery. But creamy.
Like commenter Pinkdawn before me, I had to think of "the perfect woman"but in the sense of truly perfect. Not a cold businesswoman. Rather one who is perfectly just imperfect enough that you can't help but like her. Maybe just as beautiful as Marylin once was. With charming smile, humor, perfect, white skin...But this one may stand by the fact that she has what in her head.
But also just for not too scarce with flaws afflicted normal women like me, it is well wearable. Together with Madame Perfect from the flacon I get through the day well.
For me, a fine Chanel with character and edge. If you do not overdose him ,you smell with it wonderfully noble-fresh-groomed. I think even more I would love the Extrait. This has in the base in addition to (unsweet) vanilla and vetiver still incense...I would also like that here with the EdP. Also, it probably smells a little softer and rounder...Well. Maybe I get the again under the nose. Until then, I'm happy with this one...
Thanks to Eve Mist for the sample from a year ago..

Rabbitless elegance
It happened anno 2002. Pole Poppenspäler days in Husum. My then boyfriend (now husband) and I drove in this summer intentionally aimlessly throughout Germany, visited here and there someone, and finally landed among other things in this play...Unfortunately, I can no longer remember the name.Well in my memory, however, is this white rabbit. An extremely unsympathetic rabbit, with nasal, penetrating voice, that emphasized again and again lisping, how sweet and cuddly and dear it was. So that one could hardly bear it as a spectator of this figure theater piece for adults... The Hasentier turned out besides also still as a nasty Nötiger and blackmailer, and was murdered in the piece then also soon. All other figures had a murder motive, because Hasi had played badly with you. the murder was cleared up then... A genuine Krimi, thus. I can still remember it because it's one of the few plays that actually made me guffaw.... And, well. There's a scent that's figurative to me, like said rabbit. The Amber. Long a favorite of mine, I can smell amber very well from perfumes and always immediately associated it with "cozy". When I began to test more and more fragrances at Parfumo, the transformation took place insidiously, almost imperceptibly...The amber smell began to get on my nerves more and more. He mutated from "wonderful cuddler", to "doof-niedlichen rabbit" .Now there are amber yes in black, green, spicy...etc.. But from all amber fragrances that I had tested so far, waved me now, quasi sweet-doof ,( with a "fön, daf you fon again at me fnüffelft " ), the rabbit against. Amber, mutated into a desert of powder-sugar yawning boredom...
Nevertheless, or just therefore, I am still interested in amber fragrances. Basically, yes ,mostly synthetically, trying to make a clean, idealized version of ambergris. Ambergris, this gray substance, excreted from the intestines of whales with digestive problems, ( for those who don't know yet: it's real, no joke !!), which apparently smells very attractive, and is as rare as it is expensive. Every now and then a poor fisherman pulls a chunk of ambergris from the sea and gets for it ( hopefully) a lot of money....
Ambergris is said to smell more animalistic, more aromatic, than the amber we know. I would strongly suspect that it also smells a little fishy. How I would love to smell real ambergris once !
Lorenzo Villoresi, the philosopher and perfumer from Florence may have had this noble scent under his nose. In any case, it would be difficult to assume that "Ambra", the Villoresi perfume, should probably smell as it is called. Ambra, of course, could also mean " amber". The liquid in the bottle looks at least amber. I was really curious how ,and which theme would be interpreted in this perfume then now.

In fact, the fragrance event begins in the first seconds with a well-known,delicate, white sweetness. However, this does not have the typical ambery powdered sugary, but glides smoothly like satin past...a light musk touch with a Bissl amber. But already lowers a light bitter-harzig-würziger veil on this fine sweetness down, like autumn fog...

Early evening in the Italian city by the sea. The light wind carries with it a hint of quiet, sweet longing. The path leads through old, small, gray alleys, towards the harbor and beach promenade. It is quiet here in November, at dusk. Autumn fog lies like light, white incense over the city. Bitterly citric waves of galbanum break softly against the harbor wall. The advancing dusk conjures warm amber resin glow in the old street lamps. A feeling of inner contemplation and expansiveness sets in, as incense fog is particularly capable of awakening. But before it becomes too emotional and solemn, the fragrance grabs us with all kinds of spices by the scruff of the neck, and pulls us back to the here and now, where the fragrance life with pepper, nutmeg, cardamom and clove scents aroma and vitality is breathed.
But you must not imagine " Ambra" too spicy. Here everything is exactly balanced, nothing too much, none of the fragrance notes stands out here extremely. Most likely, perhaps, the incense. Animal notes can be represented here really also only as "Häuchlein" and mix, relatively unnoticed by me in the action.
The fragrance does not radiate any closeness. He remains elegant and confident at a distance. It is a quiet, refined sophisticated olfactory impression. The fragrance is absolutely unsweet, then develops towards the end a pleasant, woody warmth.
So we stroll along our now dark harbor promenade like signora or signore. This is where we belong. We know this vast, unpredictable sea and its fragrance, we know the old church from which incense rises to our noses, we know the restaurants of this city. We know the ups and downs of life,
go our way, keep casual attitude and are always dressed appropriately... Siamo italiani veri. ;-)
Ambergris is an exciting fragrance, but at the same time one that will not arouse extreme passions. For me, it is not a candidate for purchase. In parts, it becomes a bit too bitter for me. So I will continue to curiosity through Amber. Ambretta amber, amber & Co test. Incidentally, I am really very unsure whether "ambergris" in all its resinousness falls under the heading of "amber fragrances" at all. But after all : It is neither an extremely sweet cuddly scent.... nor can I discover a nasty rabbit anywhere. For this I am so grateful!!!
