The darling of spring
Since I like to watch Yotube videos around the world of fragrances on occasion, I always discover interesting fragrances that are also considered niche. Goes to you certainly also so. Some time ago I discovered the Power by Kenzo in the net. Thereupon quickly researched here in the forum, what makes the fragrance so and what reactions there are to it. Because of the comments and the scent pyramid I finally decided to buy Power. Expensive he is anyway not.

The flacon is already quite attractive. Cylindrical with chrome optics he acts cybermäßig and already suggests a certain freshness. I call him affectionately the "T1000", based on the Terminator series. The spray cap and the sprayer itself also look very valuable. The only drawback is, as for example also with the AHSEE of Chanel, that the Falkon is not transparent and thus the remaining fill level is not visible. That would have to be determined by the weight loss. But who weighs because already his flacons?

To the fragrance itself. Start he does fresh spicy, almost already effervescent. The effervescence is not tingly and sticky, but soft and round, conveys a certain kind of coolness. The top note here gives a feeling of fresh lemon iced tea. After a few minutes, floral notes quickly join in and literally embrace the basket of bergamot and cardamom. The iced tea slowly becomes sweeter and warms up a bit. However, at no time does it become pentrant. I honestly don't know what labdanum and tolu balsam smell like. I can say, however, that the components from the top and heart notes determine this fragrance, until the power (on my skin) after about 5-6 hours is no longer or hardly to smell.

The Kenzo Power fits perfectly to spring, when it is slowly getting warmer and the flowers develop their splendor. The birds chirp merrily, the soft smell of spring hangs in the air. It lifts the spirits mothballed by winter considerably. A very great fragrance in an equally beautiful bottle, whose blind purchase I definitely do not regret.

Eefinally a mega Prada L'Homme clone
For sooooo long I've been looking for a good clone of Prada L'Homme, famously the king of the office, the absolute "clean man" scent. I have owned the Prada for a year, also the Intense version. A wonderful fragrance, I do not have to say much about it. I can't remember exactly why, but I sold both of them. They were literally snatched out from under me. Is no wonder, I thought to myself.

Since I'm an absolute fan of those fragrances that play in the price / performance category at the top, I have long looked around for a clone of the Prada, without now reaching into the Eclat or D&P shelf. My hopes were very much placed on Orient, who are known to have brought very good dupes of the well-known fragrances on the market at a reasonable price and still do. But for a long time nothing came from Arabia either. Until in 2018, "Evoke Gold Edition for Him" by Ajmal suddenly appeared! Touted by many perfume freaks from all over the world as a Prada L'Homme dupe, so I had to get that one. Found it online, a fragrance shop from the United Kingdom, Manchester.

Once I arrived, I couldn't wait to retrieve the "gold" from the brown padded envelope. After I shredded the envelope, a shiny, glittery gold box was revealed. A bit ostentatious, I thought. Further inside, even more gold what shone! The bottle is shiny gold in color and has two notches on the sides for a firm grip. So the flanker can't just slip out of your hands. A circle is notched in the middle, and the spray head along with the cap is placed off-center. Stylistically exciting.

But is all that glitters really gold? Does there come out a fragrance that fulfills my dreams of Prada as soon as I press the sprayer? The first spray... And there it is! There it is! Pure excitement, ecstasy! There's the Prada I've been waiting for so long. The one I've been waiting for. Couldn't be that hard, I think to myself. The opening starts off fresh and peppery, with the pepper coming on subtly here. Neroli dominates in the first few seconds. In a few seconds, and this is no exaggeration, the powdery iris that is so characteristic of Prada follows. Amber joins in and keeps the iris in check at first. As of now, I thought ok, this one is drifting into sweetness but after 5-10 minutes, the powdery iris reasserts itself and also barely lets itself be smothered by the wood and earth in the base. So overall it retains this lovely fresh powdery, very slightly woody "clean" quality. And it does so for a long time, longer than the original. After 8 hours, it is still perceptible. The sillage is above average, though I've only dosed it discreetly so far. In the further weeks it will show how it behaves with the H+S.

A very successful masterpiece by Ajmal, huge compliments from my side! Except for the initial battle between iris and amber, the Ajmal Evoke is 95% of the Prada L'Homme. If you want a cheaper version of the original here that lasts longer and gives off a stronger vibe, this is the one to grab. Look around on the internet, in Germany it is currently rarer to have. I have as I said, the 90ml Flanker from UK for about 40€ get.

Grandpa, you were 38 then, driving a Ford Capri..
I have to start with 6 adjectives: fresh, green, soapy, herbaceous, sexy, old-school. And far away from the mainstream. Back in the mid-80s, when grandpa was still in his late 30s. In the early summer of 1985, freshly shaved in a Ford Capri with sunglasses, open shirt, chest hair scenting the wind with the windows rolled down. The song "Run to you" by Bryan Adams is playing on the radio in a glorious rubbing iron voice. That's exactly what this scent smells like. More about that later.

The bottle is designed very simple, fluted glass, like the taillights of the Ford Capri. On the glass the Giorgio emblem embossed. Haptically already trimmed to retro. I find super! The cap is "chromed" plastic (the Capri didn't have sooo much of it), which is absolutely acceptable at this price. The bottle contains 118 ml of the green fragrance.

To this I come now. You can imagine from my intro about how Giorgio for Men smells. The aldehydes with the citrusy notes immediately catch you like an aftershave and initiate the retro trip back to the 80s. The entry into the past happened Marty McFly-like with the clove and earthy patchouli, accompanied by the orris root and cedar, which quickly give the scent a lovely clean-soapy-green character. Cinnamon is only very subtly noticeable and doesn't affect the scent negatively in my opinion. The herbaceous oakmoss (probably man-made), rounds out the soapy character along with some amber and a smidge of honey (or vanilla?). After a few hours, this composition is still ever-present and becomes slightly sweeter without shedding the retro flair. From then on, the scent envelops you in a slightly spicy barbershop sphere. The shelf life is long (8 hours loosely), the sillage is strong, but pleasant.

Conclusion: I think this fragrance polarizes, even if it is highly rated here. The younger generation (under 25) will perhaps rather title this fragrance as old-fashioned "grandpa water". Over the age of 30, I'm sure it will appeal to many. I myself am 32 now and definitely don't feel too young to wear Giorgio For Men regularly in spring and summer (so right now in June). Because it is, perfect from March to September. I urge every man over the age of 25 to at least try the Giorgio and if possible add it to their collection. I dare you, I also bought it blind based on the reviews and youtubers. He is (I think) a must-have.

Spray on fabric softener with plum
Admittedly, the headline to my review may already devalue the fragrance from the house of Joop in some way. But that is not necessarily so.

Since I also very much like to evaluate the flacon, I'll start with that. The slightly bulbous body you know of course from the original fragrance "Homme" with the characteristic black plastic cap. Here, the light-blue content fits very well with the appearance. The 80 ml variant lies well in the hand. All in all, not the ugliest flanker in the perfume shelf.

The blue liquid mutet before spraying on rather a citrus-fresh and vorallem aquatic fragrance. After the first sprayer comes out there but what completely different. The top note is undoubtedly dominated by the plum, which together with the clary sage evokes a sweet fresh opening. The plummy (in the case of this one, in my opinion, also somewhat berry) note I also know from Lacoste Homme, which is quite pleasing. The citrusy components like grapefruit I can hardly to not smell out. Here I would have wished me something more presence to underpin the freshness of the fragrance.
The following in the heart note orange blossom and tobacco provide a continuing not too intrusive sweetness, which pushes the initial freshness with each minute in the Hintergund. Up to this point, the aforementioned notes create a scent that smells like L*or's famous fabric softeners, fresh, slightly sweet (maybe a little floral) and absolutely "clean". The sandalwood in the base is barely perceptible, but does clean man feeling no harm.

The "fabric softener accord" keeps the fragrance fresh for a total of about 4 hours before it dries up. In my opinion, it fits much better with spring than with high summer. To the latter, I would rather prefer aqautic fragrances, to which the Joop Homme Ice definitely does not belong. I also can't relate to some of the comparisons to Prada L'Homme. The only thing that connects JH Ice and the Prade is the fact that both are so-called clean fragrances. In and of themselves, however, completely different from each other. The comments "the Ice is the fresher variant of the original fragrance (Homme)" I can agree more. Who knows the Urduft, will be able to smell the Ice gaaaanz discreetly in the background.

I will consider whether I keep the JH Ice ultimately. If clean smelling, then I would rather go for the Prada or the Kenzo Power (which is clearly more floral-fresh). Not because the Ice is a bad one, but because there are simply better alternatives (for me) in this case. You should definitely test the already.

World Class BdC Clone
First of all, I am very happy to be the first to review this brilliant fragrance. I am generally a friend of fragrances from the Orient, because they usually offer a lot of quality for relatively little money. This also applies to the Signature Blue by Al Haramain, but more about that later.

First, about the bottle. Or better yet, I'll start with the packaging. HAMMER! The absolute hammer. No kidding. A book-cover-like package made of soft solid cardboard (lined with soft felt on the inside) that you can actually open like a book. Once opened, the beautiful bottle lying (not standing) inside is revealed. The design here is of course based on the Dior Homme, but is blue with translucent liquid. If one takes the flanker in the hand, one feels haptically the high quality. Sensational. This also applies to the packaging. Everything comes across as high quality. If you didn't know the price of the product, you could easily estimate it at 150€, easy. Externally, I am absolutely thrilled.

Does my enthusiasm now continue with the inner values of the Signature Blues? YES, YES and again, YES! The first spray reveals a citrusy freshness a la Bonheur, with the bitter orange here providing a very positive, slightly tart influence. The rose geranium almost melds with the vetiver in the base to create a wonderful spicy-woody composition, always accompanied by the initial citrus freshness. This accord is not only fresh, but also clean, elegant and sexy, which is in no way inferior to the BdC (EDT and EDP). Whereas it does, the sillage is slightly better on the Chanel's EDP. But just the fact that Al Haramain offers here for just under 20 € an incredibly great BdC clone, can overlook the sillage.

Conclusion: a very high quality fragrance both outside and inside, which is inferior to the BdC in (almost) nothing. Absolutely test. Especially for the price you can not go wrong.
