Whiteflowers

I remember the first time I smelled Sundance very well. It was in autumn 2011 at my perfumery in Frankfurt. I was invited to a presentation of the company Memo. The perfumes of this brand were presented there and my choice fell on Lalibela and Sundance. I was very fond of both of them, but I bought Sundance because of the pear, tuberose and tiare - my clear favourites.

Every time I wear this scent, the sun rises in my heart. The fragrance is present from the very first moment. It starts fruity and citric - it is the pear that enchants me again and again. Immediately the tuberose is in the power and has its employment. And exactly this beautiful combination of tuberose and pear enchants me every time anew.

Sundance isn't going through much development. The citric and fruity fragrance components weaken a little. The fragrance then falls into the cuddly iris sandalwood bed. But until the end the citric scents resonate with me and this constantly in step with the tuberose makes this "Sundance" for me. For me this makes it a very reliable daily companion.

Unfortunately the production of Sundance was stopped in 2017, which is incomprehensible to me personally. In 2016 Marfa was introduced by Memo. It's not really a substitute for me. Marfa is for me a creamy, warm, slightly spicy and not sweet tuberose, framed in an orange blossom vanilla bed. Although in its own way also wonderfully beautiful, but at Sundance the sun fire dances through the incredibly radiant combination of pear, lemon & bergamot and tuberose.

So far I haven't smelled anything comparable, often looked for a worthy replacement, but haven't found one yet. But luckily there is Parfumo :-). Two very dear perfumas found two bottles in a perfumery by chance and bought them for me. Let's see how long my stock will last.

I very much regret that the production of my wonderful Sundance was discontinued.

If I had to choose exactly one perfume, for example the classic lonely island, it would be New Look 1947. For me, this perfume embodies the perfect harmony between floral, powdery and vanilla. I have never smelled such a beautiful tuberose framed in vanilla.

But one by one,

I remember exactly how I came to New Look 1947 about four years ago. At that time I tested it at the KaDeWe in Berlin. The nice salesman from Dior Counter sprayed Grand Bal and New Look on me in 1947 (I didn't know this noble Dior series then and told the salesman that I liked jasmine and tuberose). I found both at that time only "nice" so on my skin, so on the 1. sprayer, but the big love was not it.

I went to Berlin afterwards my ways, it was winter and I had on my winter coat. When I took my coat out of the closet the next morning, it had happened to me. My coat had probably gotten a few splashes of New Look 1947 at the collar and it smelled so wonderfully from the wardrobe of the hotel. I could still remember exactly on which side the seller had sprayed which perfume and so it was clear that it had to be New Look 1947. On the same day I visited the KaDeWe again and yes, I had to test this perfume extensively. Unfortunately there were no rehearsals, but luckily there was our fragrant community Parfumo. I ordered two large bottlings of two very nice perfumes, could test the fragrance extensively, and of course a bottle of this dream fragrance had to move in with me a few weeks later.

If someone asked me what exactly I love about the fragrance, I would answer exactly that: the perfect harmony between floral, powdery and vanilla. I've never smelled tuberose so beautifully framed in vanilla before. For me, tuberose forms the heart of the other white flowers, but without pushing itself into the foreground. This fragrance is already powdered, all fragrances are so wonderfully interwoven.

The fragrance doesn't go through much development on my skin and I think that's very good. From the first sprayer it smells wonderfully powdery and flowery, perhaps even a little dusty, but there is also a little subliminal tingle.

You see, I wallow there. Of course I'm wearing New Look 1947 right now, while I'm writing this commentary and am always amazed and enchanted by its beauty. In the office I never carry this smell, because it should be only for me ;-).

The bottle, like all the others in this series, is simply a dream. With their classic shape and black cap, the bottles from this series stand for pure elegance and style. I have the New Look in 75 ml and in 40 ml. Unfortunately the 40 ml bottle is too heavy for my handbag. Until recently there were 15 ml Travelfalkons and probably only in the KaDeWe. Supposedly they are no longer to be produced, which I personally find very unfortunate.
