Dior can take a slice of this grapefruit...
... at least as far as durability and sillage are concerned. My favourite scent these days is ''Dior Homme Cologne (2013)''. On hot days there is nothing better. And that will stay that way - at least for the time being. DHC is incredibly refined and elegant in its simplicity. However: Durability and sillage of DHC, even if it's not sooo bad as it is often spread, can't stink against this candidate. After almost twelve hours on a warm summer day, I can still clearly feel the two splashes of vetiver grapefruit mousse on my skin. The initial effervescence of the grapefruit does soften a bit over time, but never disappears completely. And it always looks very natural, as if the oils of the peel had been drizzled on the skin. It simply smells just like your hands smell after you have peeled and cut a grapefruit. And that for a relatively long time. Considering the difference in price compared to DHC, this scent will probably become my everyday favorite for the summer.

Old-fashioned, my ass -- timeless!
I have now heard (or read) several times that L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme is beautifully composed, of high quality, a real classic, etc. pp. but too old-fashioned to be worn today. For many people, this perfume seems to be more like a perfume that you just have in your collection but don't use it.

That is admittedly nonsense. The stuff is more than portable, I think for all ages. Not a whiff of "old people's perfume." Just as little shrill teeny stuff that you just can't wear after a certain age. It's refreshingly unfashionable, in the best sense of the word: not following any fashions that go as fast as they come. Virtually timeless.

Delicious melon
In my opinion, this scent is absolutely underrated here. It may smell a lot like Invictus. I can't judge that because I don't know Invictus. But that's not bad at all. It's a simple, direct, fruity fresh, slightly sweet summer scent that still works at 30 degrees. Certainly not a milestone, but quite pleasant.

Surprisingly good, but a little dusty
In this price range I have not yet found anything of better quality. And also from the smell profile one may be quite taken with, if it lies to you then.

At the very beginning a bit pungent, after two or three minutes then fresh and green, but not harsh, but in a round way. Not as immediately tangy and citric as the indicated top notes would lead one to expect, but softer. Soon the darker, green, herbaceous dominates anyway. The mint is there by the way, but not so much mentholated cool, but rather sweet. And it also stays for quite a while. That's one of the reasons why it fits for me more to the not so hot summer days, also in autumn and spring.

The fragrance reminds me of the generation before me, the 50 to 60 year olds today. That doesn't mean anything for now. It's still surprisingly good. Personally, it's just a touch too old-school for me.

Dior Homme Cologne vs Allure Homme Sport Cologne
I have tried both of them in parallel. They're very similar, almost confusing, but different. In the first minute AHSC starts a touch more sparkling, more tingly than DHC, but soon develops in a very slightly herbaceous direction. I find the often described soda with ice rather in the prelude of AHSC (Sprite, and a shot of Almdudler). But then it changes rapidly. DHC on the other hand is very linear. Over time DHC remains fresher than AHSC. The simple, fresh citrus fruit is what I was looking for, that's why I chose DHC in this case. But I can imagine that others prefer the more complex development of AHSC. And I would almost bet that the environment doesn't notice any difference when you wear the scents alternately.
