The crux of the sequels
Since the original version is arguably THE concept fragrance of concept fragrances and has been hotly debated, loved or loathed, it is truly difficult to approach the successor with an open mind.
Personally, I have to admit that I was a fan of the original from the very beginning. And that is precisely why I come to the following conclusion:
Perhaps it would have been good for the fragrance - just for the sake of ratings and the damned bias - if it had been attributed to a different animal. I would even go so far as to say that the overall rating for the fragrance would have been much better.

Bat 2020 takes a completely different approach to the original from 2015.
Musty, damp earth and stones, in short: the whole bat-cave-like thing is completely absent at first. I also search in vain for the animalic or even a strong urine note, which is described in some statements and reviews as almost nausea-inducing. Especially in comparison to some other zoologists.
But maybe I'm too accustomed to animals and therefore don't notice them (?)...
Enigma.
When I say that something is "missing", however, that is not a very appropriate word, because if this had been the first edition of Bat, I would have taken the fragrance as it is. The crux of the matter with the naming or a relaunch with different DNA... A bit like the curse of the second album in music.

Bat 2020 fragrance experience:

To start: Fruity and bittersweet... Almost "real" guava clearly dominates. Wrapped in a little brooky mustiness, still, hot air and a nuance that is damn strongly reminiscent of the good old (!) dodo (I'm guessing fern somehow). Incidentally, the dodo is also a Zoologist candidate that was discontinued and re-released in a completely twisted way. Here, too, I would have simply changed the name of the animal... Admittedly, the opening blend is somewhere between wearable without hesitation and a mixture of delightful and initially repulsive. Definitely not a fresh or cool scent and more like a bat enclosure in a zoo than a dark stalactite cave.

The ever-present guava ripens noticeably as it progresses and then, gradually infused with more nature, mud and wilting seaweed, is also quite rotten at some point. Fig and hay do the rest. However, none of the wilting and rottenness is overdosed or pushes itself too far forward, so that the fragrance always remains on the edge of pleasantness.
Now, at the latest, a well-known nuance of the original (perhaps THE nuance of the original) comes to the fore: stone. And this is the first time that the fragrance makes a connection to the (old) Fledermaus that I can compare and creates a small cave association. Even old leather is also in the mix, also in moderation. And above all, this "damp" base note, which still reminds me strongly of Dodo (2019).

Bat 2020 is less concept than fragrance, much less concept fragrance than the original and is probably one of the more pleasing, if not the most pleasing zoologists for me. At first, I had to learn to accept that the whole path is different from the one I loved with Bat (2015). But if you take Bat for what it is and don't penalize it for what it perhaps "no longer" is, you're left with a pretty good, unquestionably innovative, zoologist-worthy and unique fragrance that is much more wearable and less full-bodied than its reputation suggests.

"Only" music.
Between the wing chairs and kidney tables, the musty, pleasant smell of the crates and boxes, I rummage around in the old record crates.
Scented candle?
I always thought that was stupid. But why not?
Open the record case, two glances:
crackle-creak, the first disk starts spinning.

Porstishead take me through trip-hoppy worlds to "Wandering Star".
Always good!
Oh, what's that?
Long time no hear.
Thumping beat, rumbling bass, "I got the posion, I got the remedy...".
Those were the days...
And my first Dr. Martens, which I really had to beg my parents for.
A por pos Dr. Martens:
Camera panning to the Hurricane Festival.
All in pink, fag in hand and with wings on her back, Courtney Love screams into the audience: "When they get what they want, and they never want it again..."
God save the Queen (of Rock)!
Sip of wine, next record.
Something really old: Lust for Life.
Still puts you in a good mood.
Darker and danceable would be somehow good now.
Stuff, stuff...
Ah!
Also a real stroke of genius, this song!
Sometime two or three years ago I read that it was still one of the most requested and played songs in clubs. I thought it was kind of strange.
"I wanna f___k you like an animal...".
The finale drones, almost psychedelic-meditative towards the climax.
Phew. You've done it.
Exhausting and good at the same time.
Electronic was quite nice just now, so I get stuck on "Silent Shout" by The Knife.
Then I remember that I haven't listened to the first Garbage album for ages.
And actually you should also put on the Breeders and Dover again.
Smashing Pumpkins?
Oh, maybe Disarm again.
That was nice.
I'm tired.
Not necessarily because it's the middle of the night or from the wine.
Rather from the thousands of flashing memories and emotions that flew around me while listening and indulging.
Another nice one to end with.
"And someday, you will ache like I ache...".
Blow out the candle.
Smoke, steam.
Close your eyes.

Herbal spirits
No question, the fragrances of good Anna are anything but crowdpleasers - through the bank away.
But as it is with all differences of taste, they have followers. And that is also justified - zmindest in my opinion.
On the one hand, there are the mainstream fragrances, there is the niche and there are fragrances that prescribe to the word perfume art and are just (perfume) art. What ultimately who likes and what he / she feels as portable or unportable (these words honestly resist me anyway) is eh through and through subjective.

Ghost House has left me initially perplexed in that I had expected something completely different based on the descriptions so far.
Decomposed corpses, mold, sweat and animalism? None of which I can smell out of this fragrance.
Incense I can also make out with the best will in the world none, but I honestly do not regret.

Difficult it is at first anyway.

Somehow as if one had taken Succus and / or (probably rather "and") Maruyama, tipped into a cauldron and then dissolved everything at cough juices and various herbal candies plus ointments in it, which one could find.
Edged it is.
Sau-sharp, sau-herb, biting-green and mini-mini-minimal rosy.
That's how it starts and that's how it stays. Even if he gains something in mildness in the late course and thus becomes something "easier".

I like both of the scents tipped into the cauldron very much and I also like Ghost House in its uncompromisingness and bite very well.
The connection to the name, namely a haunted house is missing me personally, however, completely. Since I would have found Witch Garden actually more appropriate.

Eternity
Quite unlike my predecessor / predecessors, I am since the first encounter with this fragrance completely in love with shock. I myself no longer know when that has been so already times the case (possibly still with Ceylon and / or Aran).

As with all other fragrances, this is purely subjective, I feel War & Peace II as one of the most successful, most independent, most charismatic and yes, also as one of the best fragrances that I had so far under the nose and on me.
Who can start with dark, serious fragrances and with Animalik even the slightest, should have here really his true joy ...
Better one could hardly have implemented the theme.

Darkest night and cobblestones, then tarry, animalic, sweaty, gloomy and deeply smoky, it fights with seductive, tart rose, mystical-sacred incense and leathery animal warmth.
Frightening on the one hand and beautiful on the other.
For me, an absolute exceptional fragrance.

P.S.: The shelf life borders on half an eternity.

The "unhighe" hippie
It's nice and fascinating at the same time that there are actually fragrances that break new ground. In relation to the cannabis theme, there are really many and of course also good fragrances; however, half of them smell like Black Afgano in a thousandfold variation. That's meant in a non-judgmental way, because Black Afgano is also a really good scent without question. Nevertheless, I have found most cannabis scents so far to be very similar in scent image or scent character.

And despite the more than endut perceptible cannabis note, Ganja Kasturi is probably the "unhighest", least lulling and by far the most biting hippie that has come under my nose so far.

Biting, sharp-herbaceous in bright red-green tones it pops you first like a resounding slap in the face. Since the psychedelic neon posters already resonate...
Certainly you could use the prelude as a smelling salt substitute.
Have then all the receptors set to monster mode one is intoxicated in the wahsten sense of the word. Intoxicated by a cannabis note, so iridescent green, so fresh and rich as I personally have never smelled in any fragrance.
And so deliciously awake!
By that, I mean exactly what I touched on above. Ganja Kasturi goes delightfully different than most cannabis scents. Here is nix with hang broad in the corner and chill.
The complete opposite is the case.
One is in the wakeful rush.
Open and receptive to all impressions.
Creativity and curiosity bubbling up in spicy green fountains.
Euphoric.
Free.

No more words needed.
