Live up to the hype?
For years I really tried to love this fragrance/line, and I kept trying for ~30 ml then I couldn't anymore... Sorry Mr. Depp, I like your commercial, but not the fragrance. It could be that I am over 30 and smelled too many fragrances in my life but Sauvage smells so cheap and synthetic when compared to competitors in this genre... My wife HATES it and runs away from me every time I spray it - "Oh no, not Sauvage!". I am aware that many people love this line (especially younger folks) and everything about this fragrance is explained many times.. but if you still haven't try it, don't blind buy it! Go and try it somewhere and don't be influenced by the hype. Could be that you will love it, end enjoy many bottles of Sauvage! But if you don't, just keep searching for your own magic. There is no perfume that works for everyone and there is no fragrance that could "catch-a-girl" for you. It is not about the fragrance itself but about your self-confidence when you are wearing it.

Allrounder
This fragrance was off my radar for many years until my wife bought it as a present two years ago. Chanel Allure Homme is the perfect scent whenever I want to smell fantastic without being too loud. I realized that I love wearing it in the office, during an afternoon walk, when visiting our friends or simply going for a drink in a small cafe. I just always instinctively go for the Allure. I love it! To me it is more masculine (less sweet) than Allure sport versions, but a bit less sexy than Bleu. The projection and longevity are just perfect, I can smell it on my shirt and enjoy pretty much all the time during my 8 hours shift without irritating anyone in the office. A timeless fragrance! Pure 10/10!

Smoky Vanilla
By the fireplace is definitely a work of art. It is fascinating how one can manipulate aroma chemicals to obtain such an interesting smokey/leathery scent. On the other hand, this has its drawbacks since to me the top note chemicals have somewhat harsh, synthetic, gasoline feel. The scent calms down, becomes much more pleasant and develops its full potential after ~30-60 minutes. I definitely like the scent but I don't find it particularly sexy, since I don't have a fireplace and this smokey note reminds me of a Sunday-barbecue-fire. It is just a personal thing, i.e. everyone correlates a fragrance with something different... In the end that's the magic of perfumery.

An old school fragrance
1 Million Cologne (1MC) is an old school fragrance. Its opening reminds me of fragrances my mother used to wear during 80's and 90's. 1MC is an unisex fragrance, no doubt about it. In my opinion it is beautifully blended but I would not wear it except in my own apartment on some nostalgic Sunday evening when I want to evoke childhood memories. A very similar feeling I get with the Chanel Egoiste (also an old school fragrance), but in contrast to 1MC Egoiste is much more masculine and I enjoy wearing it in public. To summarize, this is a great formulation (but not unique) suitable for 30+y old men/women and for someone who particularly like this old school perfumery.

Average coumarine based woody-floral scent
I've worn this fragrance for a couple of days now, and all I can say is - OK. It is well blended but boring, opens with some fresh notes and lavender (probably linalool, limonene and salicylates). The middle notes are sweet (geraniol?) and the scent doesn't develop much. Since vetiver is given here as the base note I was expecting dry and masculine scent but what I get is woody vanilla i.e. coumarin with some woods and maybe muscs? The projection and longevity are just average and I would not consider buying 100 ml for more than 30-40 euros or $. All in all - 6/10.
