Chronologie IV - Perfume, the story of a murderer
Animal, dirty, virile and stable perfume!

I remember it bringing me back to 18th century France that was covered by smell so bad that modern society can't even imagine it.

The city that smelled worst was Paris, the capital. The streets smelled of garbage, yards of fresh urine, staircases of rat poo, kitchens of sheep fat, bedrooms of greasy sheets, fireplaces of sulfur and stale blood. People smelled like their clothes was never washed, their teeth and mouth like they were rotten, their bodies smelled of old cheese, sour milk and diseased glands. Everything stank, rivers, city squares, and the worst smell was under the bridges and inside the castles. Everyone in the nobility stank, and even the king smelled like a bird of pray and the queen like an old goat, the smell that stayed the same during the summers and the winters.

A man was born. A man that was said to had been obsessed, because it didn't stink of horse dung, old apples and onions.

His birth brought the change in history of France and made Paris, once one of the stinkiest cities in the world, the center of fragrant art with the crown that says - Frederic Malle, Musc Ravageur.

Inspiration... Perfume, the story of a murderer.

Chronologie III - Neo old school 2013
Groups: leather and at times wooden chypre, but that can be discussed.

I agree with what some are saying - that this damn beautiful piece of men's perfumery earned a special name. You can smell traces of old Bel Amy, but still this is a different smell.

When we're speaking of good perfumes with vetiver prefix, there is no similarity to 'FM Vetiver Extraordinaire' nor 'Chanel Sycomore' but it has some similarity to 'Sel de Vetiver The Different Company' without its recognizable dryness. This is not just a concidence, knowing that Celine Ellena created 'Sel de Vetiver' and J.C.Ellena created 'Bel Ami Vetiver' and I can't help feeling that the father had his nose in daughters creation.

However, this similarity doesn't even come close to saying that Bel Ami Vetiver is not original enough or is already seen. Sel de Vetiver is one of the most original scents ever made, while Bel Ami Vetiver is more aristocratic and slightly pulls on the wonderful smell of barbershops. It is not a smell that is rude and pushy but very serious, of character, elegant and very comfortable to wear. Very good stability and good projection.

Bel Ami Vetiver is not a restoration of Bel Ami from 1986 and it doesn't associate of Coppola restoration digital edition of The Godfather trilogy from September 2008. This is neo old school which marked 2013 as successfull when it comes to a new perfume creations.

Chronologie II - Modern reinterpretation of the 1980's
Magnificent smell of quality shaving foam mixed with pineapple and grapefruit. I had the opportunity to smell it when it first appeared in the market, and I had it in my collection by the next year. I neither feel sorry nor is it important that it became popular like Aventus. What I do find important is that pleasure and emotions I feel when I'm wearing it.

This is a scent for urban gentlemen, which can be worn throughout the year, combined with some elegant style. Stability and projection are great.

Chronologie I - The Godfather
I've always had difficulties to find the words for describing the most beautiful of perfumes.

Overproduction in perfume industry resulted with hundreds of new perfume houses whose offer has already been seen. Too many leather and oud combinations made people smell like worn off russian counts and desert bedouins, and almond, coconut and vanilla are just waking nutritional scents.

Sadly, today one can rarely find a perfume which is strictly made for male or female. New directions are being formed in which undecided perfumes are preferred, so both males and females now smell the same. Just to be straight, I have nothing against this kind of perfumes, because many of them smell really nice and some of them I have in my collection, but first of all I'm an old school kind of guy and my opinion is that a perfume has to have a 'side'. However, as time goes by, and by judging by the offer, the expectations are low that a new perfume, that will impersonate either male or female, will emerge.

In rush of aggressive propaganda which puts niche production in forefront, Fahrenheit still firmly holds its place on top by its originality, beauty, quality and, the most important, masculinity. If there is a male perfume which holds the essence of a real masculine man, then this is the one. It is a cult perfume you can either love or hate, nothing in between, which gives you a feeling that the perfume chose you and not the other way around. It has been a bit 'damaged' by reformulations, but still it kept its style and recognizability.
