Do you know the Plitvice Lakes, or what we call Plitvicka Jezera?
No? But maybe "the treasure of the Silver Lake"? With the unforgettable Piere Price as Winnetou. Now maybe some will say, of course we know this place. A place of special natural beauty. A place you never forget.

I know him too, very well. He's in the country where my roots are.

Recently, as so often, I have rummaged in Parfumo, looking for fragrances with plum, a fragrance that I always look for in fragrances and that can beautify any fragrance for me. Whether it's probably because we drank a lot of Schliwowitz, a plum schnapps. Well, not from me, of course. I was just a little girl. Just a sniff at it was enough for me...... but let's leave it at that:).
Well, in this famous national park with its rich flora and fauna I was often on the way. A natural wonder with its very own scent, of course not when thousands of people squeeze past each other over the wooden walkways in summer. If you want to sniff this scent, enjoy it, absorb it, then you have to enjoy this unique scent outside the high season.
The scent of wet moss, wet wood, the dense forest, the meadows with its countless flower species, countless and most beautiful orchids of Europe and everything as if it were under a fine spray of water pouring from one lake to the next.

A very special fragrance that has recently been captured in perfume as a reminder of this wonderful place.
Who can't understand that my curiosity when I discovered him was huge. Especially since the fragrance has only been around since last year. Had it been there then when I was still there, he would have come with me.

I can't say how the orchids smell there, probably only the perfumer himself can do that. Whether it is the orchids that I mainly smell there or not, but it is flowery and very beautiful in any case. I cannot determine an actual course. Starts fresher and stronger and then remains elegantly floral and fresh. The flowers become softer and warmer as if the sun had risen. But I imagine to be able to perceive a fresh plum all the time, this fine fruity one that I love so much in a fragrance. If one were to describe the fragrance as sweet, it would rather be a fruity sweetness, pleasant and fine. And above everything hovers such a spray of water, unfortunately I cannot describe this impression better. It is wonderfully perceptible but not loud and also the durability with me survives the walking time of a few hours which I needed for Plitvice
For me it fits very well to my memories of this wonderful time, this unforgettable place. I find it very successful and with approx. EURO 30.00 a wonderful souvenir and souvenir.

I will certainly be there again, sometime and of course accompanied by the beautiful scent. After all, I have to be able to compare on the spot:). Understand each other, don't you?

Your Avon consultant is here
How I would have liked to have heard this sentence at the tender age of 12. I can't remember exactly where I first saw one. Well-groomed from head to toe. I was so impressed, all over the place. How I would have liked to have had the visit of such a well-groomed lady with us. Sniffing the figures, trying out the colors. But unfortunately we didn't have them. The first TV was still in black and white. Advertising mainly in paper form. And the consultants only work in the neighbouring country. And just walking across the border wasn't as easy as it is today.
So many years lie in between, I had long forgotten the brand in the meantime. But when I found a few cute figures from an old collection, the well-kept and beautiful lady of that time was immediately present again in my memory

And now, after so many years, I have them. Maybe not even because of the scent, although I am surprised how delicate and beautiful they still are. Today my demands are certainly greater, but then it would probably have been my greatest treasure. Not only because the figures are beautiful and give pleasure, but also because the scent would have been quite wearable for a teenager.
A powdery, light musk scent rises to my nose. Delicate and well-groomed, just like the old lady. Nothing stabbing or hairspray-like is available with me.
Sure, a fragrance process in the actual sense is not given, it is rather as if one would apply a beautiful tender cream. It is not a luxury brand and perhaps not as popular today as it was then, but it does not always have to be expensive luxury to give pleasure.

Now I close my eyes, sniff my sweet figure and hear a pleasant soft voice from the distance of the past, hello your Avon consultant is here. Well, finally.

What does he have that others don't?
probably nothing. And yet.
Actually, I wanted to go into town to test the new Guerlain scent meteorites. Spray on the back of the hand and let work. Yes, yes, quite nice. Wait and see.
Take a lap, see what else is worth striving for. Louis Vuitton, look in, look and sniff around, it costs nothing.
And I didn't know the scents either. All sniffed through, OK, they're not all bad. And then it was the new guy's turn. Oops, he's got something, he has to be on the skin.
On one hand still the meteorites, on the other the new ones. Back out, let it work. From minute to minute the hand went more and more and more to the nose. What does he have that others don't. I don't know, probably nothing, and yet I had to get back in.
Here I am again and would like to buy this fragrance. The lady looked at me and said very friendly: Sorry, all sold out. But we ordered again. OK, I'll call you when he gets back. No sooner said than done. Two weeks later I returned to the city, because the scent didn't let me go. Yeah, he'd be available again. Back to the city and straight to the Louis Vuitton. I'd like that scent. And the nice lady again, oh, sorry all gone. Nope, right? Now I've called all the time. She looked again. Oh, they're lucky. There's one left. Never before has a fragrance been as desirable as this one. A real hit with us.
Looks like it is. At least with the ladies in Zurich. I had mine now, finally.

Tangy tangerine with sour berries. Lovely but fresh. And very soon, my beloved peony will be in the mix. I don't see that much of jasmine. The fragrance becomes a little warmer without losing its light, beery-sour freshness in the background. The incense muffles the whole thing a little at the end, even if it seems very restrained to me.

Whether the fragrance is worth the expensive fun, everyone must decide for themselves. And although the Sillage could be stronger for me, I have not regretted having taken this treasure.
A very nice summer companion, especially if you love the berry freshness, the peony and can do without the vanilla.

Cinnamon Stars Over Paris
While I was visiting Grasse, I was fortunate to step into the past and admire the beautiful vintage perfumes inside a museum. With many of these treasures I have asked myself what these scents actually would smell like or what stories they could tell me. Unfortunately, as you know, that is not possible in a museum.

Now I am holding a real museum's piece in my happy hands and am thrilled to have the opportunity to smell it. With a sense of awe and respect, I am carefully holding the bottle ... with the awareness that there are maybe only three left in the world and that I acquired the Christmas Edition of the signature perfume of the house Brisson. Is it possible that the scent is still preserved? Yes, apparently this is possible because whoever had this scent before me, took good care of this treasure.

Alas, I was not able to learn much about this fragrance. From 1945 to 1950, the house Brisson was located at 65-67 Champs-Elysees in Paris. During that time only four perfumes were created. "Toboggan" was the first and was the signature perfume of the house Brisson.

Why the scent was named "Toboggan" I cannot say with any kind of certainty. That there was one of the first toboggans in Paris, or maybe was it the first toboggan ... could possibly be a reason. A toboggan was a large slide construction, built like a wooden tower. Even today there are these slides in Vienna or in Munich during the "Oktoberfest" - now, of course, in their modern versions. A conveyor belt transports you up and after a few steps, down you slide, all around the tower. Another meaning of toboggan is simply a sled, and those are depicted on the perfume's original packaging which was also amazingly well preserved.

Paris 1945. The first Christmas after the war in the liberated city of Paris. Most is still in ruins, rubble and ashes. The survivors are gathering new hope. The joy to have come through it all and to look forward into a new future. There was not any luxury, nor could it be expected. But the need for it was tremendous. This longing revived the fashion industry and the perfumery world. Creative noses returned to Paris, as did Elsa Schiaparelli and many others. Pierre Balmain opened his first atelier.

But now to the fragrance itself. Whether the Christmas Edition is exactly the same as the signature perfume, I am unable to say. In my opinion this particular scent matches the feeling of Christmas very well.

As a nonprofessional, I can only try to describe the scent in broad terms:

There are most likely aldehydes in the top notes. After a few minutes, while sniffing at my arm, I am perceiving mainly carnations and cinnamon. Perhaps a little rose is hidden somewhere. Oriental, warm and spicy this scent comes through. No sweet notes, only dark magnificent flowers sprinkled with cinnamon ... as if a thousand little cinnamon stars were spraying upon a flower garden. The base notes remain warm without animalic tendencies. I suspect patchouli and sandalwood.

Except for the top notes, this perfume reminds me very much of "Cinnabar", however considerably more delicate and finer.

On me, the sillage was only average as was the longevity, but on my mom those lasted a lot longer. Must have to do with my scent-devouring skin.

Now I have become even more eager to seek out further vintage scents ... except those from my immediate past, I mean the ones that I knew in my youth. This particular scent here brings to me happy fragrance moments from a time where my existence was not even planned yet. It gives me profound emotional impressions of a time and a place long ago.

(I have submitted a photo which is not yet in the System. Who wants to see it, must wait a bit.)

Like a Ruby from Burma ... precious and rare
What my nose smells here resembles what my eyes see when they look at a precious Burma Ruby. The eyes begin to shine and a longing is stirring, "I must have you, no matter what!" All those good intentions not to buy any more perfumes are melting away along with the will to even try to resist. Reason is now placed on the back burner.

If I associate this scent with a gem, it would be a Burma Ruby. Velvety, pidgeon blood red color, precious and noble.

This is a very complex, well-balanced fragrance which I cannot easily classify. A floriental, a gourmand, where fruits artfully mingle with flowers, where vanilla mixes with woods ... gently this scent transports me into a dream state.

Not too weak and not too strong. Sweet, but not too sweet.

Most women covet diamonds and only very few know that a pidgeon blood red ruby from Burma is far more valuable. So it is sometimes with fragrances. Many have been underestimated and still are.

Admittedly, this perfume has escaped me until today. Was it the marketing? Was it the choice of name?

I don't know. I will never own a ruby from Burma, I just cannot afford it. But I will trace and find, and own, this rare jewel among fragrances ... at no matter what the cost.
