Fresco for Men is an almost dead ringer for Creed's Aventus

Fresco for Men is an almost dead ringer for Creed's Aventus 11 years ago
I was strolling around some of the perfume blog sites when I came across this story about a frag called Fresco by Ilum Dean that is supposed to be a near knock off of Creed's Aventus. My interest was peaked! So, I went to the website and ordered a sample. It came and low and behold, it does smell a great deal like Aventus! It has great longevity and sillage for an EDT and you can buy it for only $29.95 at www.DrScent.com You really should try a sample!

Batch numbers 11 years ago
And then you don't have to worry about Creed batch numbers. Those indicate various batches and Creed has the excuse that not all batches are alike.

Go figure.

That was no joke, Digindirt. This is the list of batch numbers for Aventus. I'm sure a few more were added since I complied this list. No wonder people are confused.

Batchnumbers are renewed with every batch made.. so if they make 1 a year, there's one for every year in existence. The factory where I buy from makes 6-12 batches a year for their most popular products, so seeing that many batch numbers for a fragrance that is only 3 years old isn't a total surprise. But still a huge PITA when you know there's so many fakes sold as 'real'.
At least for this one you know it's a good imitation!

I wrote a comparison review of the two on this site. I personally don't care for Aventus and feel it is just an average quality scent but I do feel Fresco is a worthy alternative for a heck of a lot less money.

There are some modest differences, but depending on the aspects of Aventus one likes/dislikes, Fresco may actually be viewed by some (myself included) as the superior alternative. That said, I could think of a lot better scent purchase investments than either of them.

Flaconneur, are you collecting perfume batch numbers as well? Laughing

Where do you find them? Are you really keeping track of diffent batches? So, could state which batch is vintage and which contains a reformulation?

Please tell us more!

This batch number list is chronological and started with the introduction of Aventus batch number A4210E01. I guess that number would be as vintage as Aventus gets. I have tested many of these batches and they all vary from quite a bit of fruit to no fruit and very smoky to hardly smoky. I complete purchasing nightmare. I purchased a flacon of Aventus after it's launch and have been quite happy with it. I've heard many a complaint with proceeding batches. This is possibly the most frustrating part of doing business with Creed.

With batch numbers, a very common thing to do is to list the month of manufacture as a letter, followed by the year in 2 digits.
So E10 will mean it is produced in the 5th month (May) of 2010.
ABCDEF = Jan-Jun
GHIJKL = July - Dec

Most of the batches (different product!) list these at the very end, but Creed seems to put them right in the middle, e.g

C42B11U02 looks like one that is made in Feb 2011. What the C42 or U02 means??? no idea, but the 42 is consistent throughout, so may pertain to Aventus.
A at the beginning remains for quite a while, so one might think A to B is a significant change in formulation..
At the end.. who knows it has to do with a week within a month??

HTH!

Give me a break a dead ringer for Aventus, maybe for that person that can't afford it, is like comparing cheap supermarket super concentrated orange juice to a fresh batch of oranges pull down a Orange tree in Florida... Great if you enjoy but if you tell me that the two evolve and exude the same scent and project the same on your skin... I though it: maybe you get a minute if pineapple note but not the same quality ...this one is the Aventus for those that can't afford the real....that's all

Btw the fresco bottle have a reputation of leaking.
