Charles de Gaulle... j'ai compris... but I normally go to Paris by train, cheaper and eventually faster than by plane (from Frankfurt Main Station to Paris Gare du Nord in 3.50 min).
I suppose that Guerlain knows that loads of well-to-do clients changing planes at the airport will pop in and purchase some of their "Les Exclusifs". Laughing

I wrote 3 hs and fifty (50) min - and that's the time it really takes. No kidding! Have done it so often, no doubt about it. Very Happy

Fortunately, Guerlain stopped their hard-to-get policy about 2 years ago, and since then, they are opening as many Maison Guerlains as it seems to be reasonable under a commercial aspect.

Another Maison Guerlain? So, what!

Well, they show-case where they believe they can get buyers. Us mere mortals who only occasionally take plane transport, are left with department store ware, well, there is always the internet as a source of most coveted things.

Sometimes I use the services of a woman who travels to France every two-to-three months. Suzan conducts custom guided tours, plus shops for those who don't/can't travel. She's obtained whole bottles as well as samples of perfume for me.

Yup, same from Stuttgart where I usually embark on the TGV Smile

I am happy that Guerlain finally have made their exclusive lines more available in well-known department stores in bigger cities so that one does not always have to travel to Paris in order to get one of their nice frags.

However, I have not made good experiences with their staff.
Once I bought Bois d'Armenie + Oriental Brulant in Munich which together sold for about 400 Euro (!!) and I received a smile but no samples at all whereas I read that in other sales locations they do hand out some.

In Paris a very young sales assistant did not know anything about the oud line which was upcoming at that time. I found that rather embarrassing (for her and Guerlain).

In Stuttgart/Germany (Breuninger department store) the ladies are real b....s, they tend to look down on you as if you were an insect that is annoying instead of a valued customer. Not good.

Unfortunately, it seems there is no Guerlain online store where one could order and have it shipped internationally ?

Sometimes I am tired of such "exclusive bla-bla-bla" brands that only aggravate customers instead of letting them feel the magic that some of their fine scents actually transport.

A pity, really.

Dear PontNeuf,

since you go to Paris quite often...
my shopping experience in "La Maison Guerlain" in Paris was "awesome", the assistant being a charmy, middle-aged specialist who spent two delightful hours with my daughter and myself and never grew tired of showing us everything... we also got loads of samples and small gifts, well, what can I say... it was a unique afternoon!

Btw. you can call the Parisian store and order your perfumes by telephone, they charge 10 Euros for the parcel and take down your credit card details.

The Maison Guerlain in Moscow (Department Store ZUM) is nearly as good... last summer we received 5 samples of Guerlain perfumes without buying anything.

As for Germany: Don't know anything about Stuttgard, the assistant in Munich at the "Les Exclusif" counter was very nice, but then again, my friend had called them beforehand and told them we'd "visit" and would they have a bottle of Rose Nacreé ready etc. etc.
Düsseldorf was a disappointment - I felt the same as you in Stuttgard. High-brow and arrogant they were... and nearly no samples, just a trial size of their latest cream (which did not interest me at all).

Well, maybe someone will tell us about the new store at the Parisian Airport pretty soon...

In Germany, Guerlain got involved with Douglas, which is the leading perfume chain store. Douglas is for Germany what Marionnaud is for France and Switzerland. You find Douglas stores everywhere, very often serveral in one town. By now they nearly killed all small perfume shops. Their lineup usually is quite poor, mostly mainstream, and the users on the German Parfumo make fun of them by telling their latest experiences with the "Douglettes" - the mostly female staff which has hardly any perfume knowledge due to the lack of commitment, education and intelligence.

Usually, one Douglas store in the bigger towns is pimped up with some niche lines, and this is where a Maison Guerlain is placed. At least in some cases, the staff at the Maison Guerlains is very much different from the usual Douglas standard. The staff in Berlin and Düsseldorf is gorgeous - they are addicted to Guerlain themselves, and they have so much fun selling Guerlain perfumes that it is a joy to go there and have a few words with them. I have the suspicion some of these people accept less attractive salary just to be able to take part.

Apicius, could you tell me which of the Douglas-Flagship-Stores carries the Maison-Exclusifs in Berlin? And isn't there a counter in the KadeWe, too? I'll have to go to Berlin quite a lot this year and would like to benefit from this also in terms of "fragrance-shopping".

I am sure it is on the Kurfuerstendamm Smile

Well, I just hope the next Guerlain purchase will make me feel better than the ones before. As I adore their perfumes I cannot simply boycot their brand Smile Impossible.
I will re-visit their flagship boutique and hope to get to know Vega next time Smile
Vega 11 years ago
I had "Vega " by Guerlain in a decant from www.ThePerfumedCourt.com as the full bottle is extremely expensive.

The scent is gorgeous, smells like a vintage oriental, but - it does not last very long - at least that was the impression I had from the decant, and also from an actual bottle being sprayed on my arm in the Guerlain Boutique at Bergdorf in New York City.

Recently I was at sydneys exclusive Westfields located on Pitt Street in Sydney.

I went to purchase 'Guerlain Tonka Impériale' from the Guerlain booths located in both Myers & David Jones (2 of the biggest retailers in Australia), neither Guerlain booth any in stock. They told me they sold out since they only stock 3 items of any Guerlains top end fragrances.

I find it weird & yet intriguing to see such a limited amount of stock held by Guerlain, especially a both located at a prestigious shopping complex like that of Westfields on Pitt street which is jammed packed every day by locals & tourists.

Is this a world-wide by Guerlain to keep the fragrances limited & exclusive?

I had to leave my name & number so they could call me when their next set of 3 of T.I order arrives lol. I might try find a better deal online, seeing as the price was $295aud from these retailers.
