Thanks, that will go faster.
BTW, a mini of Balenciaga Rumba is coming my way in a few days. One of the many (?) said to be still in production.

edit.. indeed it was faster than feared for, but there must be more as we already know about a few to be said in production that aren't. I'd ordered mine from new to old, but a lot were w/o a year . About 20 samples from discontinued fragrances, 10-11 miniatures and 10 full bottles (starting at 15ml)

3 Paul Smith Story
4 Mugler Rose Angel
5 Mugler Pivoine Angel
6 Guerlain Attrape coeur
7 Paul Smith Floral
8 Cartier Baiser du Dragon
9 Georgi Armani Sensi
10 Guerlain Mahora

7 Dior Dior Dior (not in database)
8 Krizia Krazy

11? Balenciaga Rumba?

full bottles

I'm in awe. I can't even keep track of my samples, let alone have that kind of organization at my fingertips.

Once you start counting you quickly realise that you don't have to be a vintage lover to have a wardrobe full of discontined perfumes these days Sad

There were 20 more I'd missed , since not all samples from a large batch were entered. Nearly all of them fairly mainstream and some really obscure. Das Markenteam???

still weren't entered
21 Coty Universo
22 Laura Ashley Dilys
23 Laura Biagiotti Tempore Donna
24 Morano Eau de Morano
25 Kiton Donna
26 Burberry Society
27 Calvin Klein Crave
28 Castelbajac Castelbajac
29 Chopard Pure wish
30 Courrèges Eau de Courrèges
31 Das Marken Team Body Guard
32 Davidoff Good Life for men
33 Dolce & Gabbana By Man
34 Dolce & Gabbana Feminine
35 Dolce & Gabbana Masculine
36 Escada Acte 2
37 Escada Jardin de Soleil
38 Jil sander Jil
39 Joop! Nuit d'été
40 Valentino Very Valentino

That makes a total of 60 out of approx. 500 different scents (12%).
PS1: Indeed I had no explicit intention to collect vintage fragrances, though I must say to be in a hurry collecting miniatures now because of all the reformulations.
PS2: obviously am more talented in creating spreadsheets than doing fingernails, painted them for first time in many years and made a total mess of it! Rolling Eyes

EDIT: plus 3 more
41 Rochas Femme vintage pdt , thought to have the recent official reformulation.. never mind, the newer one is also discontinued along with all other Rochas scents.
42 Rochas Byzance
and
mini
12 Rochas Tocade

Several....including...
The original Ralph Lauren Chaps
Perry Ellis (1985)
Calvin by Calvin Klein
YSL (1971)
Zino Davidoff
Rive Gauch (m)
Santa Fe (a poor man's Third Man from Caron)
True Force by Avon

I stockpiled the Chaps since it works very well for me. I have several bottles stashed away in a cool dark place.

I only count bottles, no samples, no decants:

L'Artisan - Tea for Two
Alexander McQueen - Kingdom
Rochas - Alchimie
Shiseido - Feminite du Bois
Mona di Orio - Chamarre
Mona di Orio - Lux
Mona di Orio - Jabu

Oh Collector, I love "Chamarre" - you are lucky!

I have no idea anymore but I think mine increased significantly over the last 30 days.

A few years ago, the amount of discontinued that I owned was ridiculous. I have since sold off a few hundred bottles in order to support other endeavors I have. ( Mainly competitive softball.)

I'm guessing I currently have about 150 remaining that I will eventually sell. The majority are classic masculines. It's not so much that I'm growing weary of the hobby as it is my active passion in other areas of life that have my attention.

I suppose I've opted to sample rather than purchase bottles these days.

A bit off topic, but I'm really picky about what I purchase so I too would rather sample and save purchasing full bottles for fragrances I truly enjoy wearing. That's why my collection appears limited, I only post those fragrances I actually wear. My favorite discontinued fragrance? Baie de Genievre.

At least 50.

I picked up samples of a few more today, thanks to the patron saint of vintage. Very Happy

I recently decanted some nice modern perfumes, and their combined smell in my bathroom reminds me of a typical great vintage fragrance. Everything has gotten very basic, for lack of a better word, in the last 20 years or so. Crying or Very sad

Interesting observation! I suspect that this trend is not unrelated to the fact that perfumes are launched much more frequently than in the past. All of the creative energy and care is diffused over in some cases dozens of perfumes, rather than being focused on a single one...

It's becoming the same way with writing today, it seems to me: many more people are dashing off texts much more quickly, with little attention to form...

Absolutely! Back in the day, perfumers weren't subject to the whims of focus groups, and it showed. Would something like Bandit ever see the light of day in 2013 as anything other than niche? I don't think so. I often wonder what sort of perfume Jacques Guerlain would be producing were he alive today.

Quantity versus Quality. I do believe we live in a cookie cutter world today. Our homes to everything else.

Exactly. The old bottles and flacons were also magnificent.

For sure Cryptic, cutesy plastic silly shapes are not my thing. Give me the elegant classy glass with simple straight lines, the ribbed is nice too. Art Deco look .......... sigh

Really, Cincy? You don't like these masterwork plastic caps?

Those dust catchers Shocked I spend to much time cleaning my unadorned. No thank you. Smile I'm sure they have their admirers.

I don't even care for these, I have two of them but don't display them. I guess I better go to the corner now. Smile

That's a really good point--I never thought of the dust catcher problem (okay, it's true: house cleaning is not my forte...).

My objection was purely aesthetic!

Ok, I started to go through my collection, but soon stopped because quite a few are original formulas of perfumes that are still produced.
Now, question is, should these count as being "discontinued" or not?
Their modern guise isn't after all the same juice.

So true Dolby. They are evil reformulations. and should be discontinued. Wink

I wish I had the coordination to go through my collection and pick out the discontinued fragrances but chances are, I'm not even aware that they are discontinued in the first place. Ha!

I have an original formula of L'Artisan Vert Violette. It was discontinued for two years, then resurrected with a different formula for two years, and then that too was discontinued.

I had been calling my bottles "Discontinued", then "Discontinued Original Formula". I hope L'Artisan has finally made up its friggin mind, or if they resurrect yet again, they call it something completely different.
