Fahrenheit - a perfume on a Different Scale
an accord that smells a bit like black hash, which could be thought original for the time, but this heavy dark fougère with a bitter undertow - which draws on the classic green chypres of the seventies - could be read as a testament to Or Black, or - more prosaically - just cashing in. Bel Ami (1986) Bel Ami was a commission by Hermès and so had to be a leather - that...

“Abu Dhabi” - New Creation by Gallivant Takes You to the Hot Rub Al Khali Desert
nbsp;the "Empty Quarter." The perfume, created by Lucas Sieuzac, is an expedition through the dunes, which experiences a kind of sepia-toned minimalism. The nostalgia inherent in the composition is supposed to be an emotional echo of the perfumes from the late 80s and 90s such as Bel Ami and Fahrenheit, created by the legendary Jean-Louis...

A Witch's Workbench
and the wind, which echoes eerily through the subterranean stone chambers. Bits of driftwood and seaweed and perhaps small animal bones littering the damp chamber floor. A sea priestess lain dormant, waiting for a dark ritual to conjure forth from slumber. This is a Dion Fortune novel in a bottle. Amir from Laura Tonnato is a deeply hypnogogic scent, all dark, narcotic myrrh and nocturnal resins. A midnight...

The Oriental, The Ancient, and The Sacred
A Meditative Incense Stick The Ancient - Leather Jardin Leather Jardin is the perfume of the Great Depression, between the two big World Wars. I smell this dry and austere perfume, and I can’t help but think of a movie star or a jazz set crooner rocking this beauty. Of course, I must admit that it is polarising, highly questionable, and divisive. It may look outdated, venerable,...

The Feeling of Reminiscence and Well-Being – Interview With Leslie and Cyrille From ASMR Fragrances
really strong that suits me completely. What have you learned from your customers? Leslie: Our clients have taught us that there is a real need for authenticity and reconnection with oneself, in a world where today's society sucks us into its disembodied will. Also, we have the humility to admit that we cannot promise olfactory...

Spray and Pray Interlude #01: Overcoming Celebrity Fragrance Bias
nose needed a break. In addition, I'm waiting for new fragrance samples to arrive specifically for the next experiment. Instead, I will tell a brief story about what happened during my travels in New York City this weekend, and how it changed my perspective. The Bias Confession I admit to having a bias against celebrity fragrances when I became immersed...

On The Way To Inky Vetiver: Encre Noire Masterpieces
note of vetiver: "Encre Noire (Eau de Toilette) | Lalique", "Encre Noire Sport | Lalique", and "Encre Noire à L'Extrême | Lalique". As the name suggests, the master perfumer carefully blended the vetiver used in these creations with other accords to take on an aroma similar to black ink. I must admit that the similarity is phenomenal. Encre Noire The opening is fumy, resinous,...

Chanel Les Exclusifs „Coromandel”
name Coromandel as the best one from the whole series. I myself can only compare it to Sycomore and can say that if Polge/ Sheldrake had used in the same brilliant way vetiver as they did with patchouli in Coromandel, surely I would be down on my knees and stay like that from the delight. I must admit that this is what I actually expected as I put my hands on Coromandel first. On the other...

I finally bought it...
you're crazy for not snapping it up!!!"Duly noted. So, I went a third trip to Marshall's to make the purchase.I'm so glad I did! My daughter and I slathered the lotion on as soon as we got to the car, and it is delicious! I don't consider this a true gourmand, but it has a yummy vanilla note. I admit that I was concerned about the "salty" note this allegedly has, and that's why I didn't buy it for so long....

Affordable scents do not mean they are worthless
in France, most of them use ingredients coming from Grasse, sometimes they are unique and other times they are very similar if not better than famous brand scents.Last but not least, I even tried spilled perfumes, like those ones produced by Equivalenza, Veressenze, and InEstasy, and I have to admit they smell good, sillage is in the average, and often the longevity is above average...

The bubbly chronicles...
Thus I always feel the urge to use water as a cooler/heater. And I savour doing it more than words can say.Yeap, this could be me...Although 95% of Greek houses are equipped with the typical rectangular bathtub, it doesnt bother me at all since it's what's inside that usually counts. However I admit that I'd love to use one of these sometime, just for the heck of it.Of course the above statement of "class"...

Cerebrating celebrity...
humble iron do after all?OK, I'm done and I rest my case!...To be honest, I feel slightly offended every time someone labels any of these as celebrity fragrances, cause by doing it (s)he puts them in the same category with the celebrity fragrances of our days. And this is not fair at all.OK, I'll admit that Antonio Banderas is the acting equivalent of David Beckham with the gazillion of fragrances that...
