Intuitively Obvious to the Casual Nose - White Florals
hands they elevate.I don't think this realization would have had the same significance if I'd read about white floral accords first, then gone in search of them. In future installments of "Intuitively Obvious to the Casual Nose," I'll report new landmarks in the on-going saga: Former Human Canary ScentFan's Self-education in Perfume...

Arrayed in Glory
“You hold them as if they’re diamonds,”
my husband says to me as I place
another decant in its spot in the tray.
It makes me wonder. Do I?
I know I get excited when I
hear a delivery truck stop
outside.
I know I’m thrilled to hear
the plunk of a box at my door.
I pick it up and if it says, usually: Lucky Scent or
other purveyor, or a perfume house—
I know I smile.
When...

Blog Series Complete
FYI, the first series, called Not Afraid of Ebola, is complete. Actually it tells how I cured myself of diabetes, hypertension, etc., using Olive Leaf Extract (OLE) which is so powerful (AND nontoxic) that it's been used against every viral disease out there, including the very worst. Have a look. I'm sure it would demolish Ebola, too.
All I know is I'm completely OFF meds and my numbers are normal. (Had...

Divine Incenses
I sniffed through 54 incense perfumes early this year. Here are the results. The first group is what I felt that I (or either sex) could wear and the second seemed more male to me, though I bought (see asterisks) some of them anyway. In bold are the two that tied for most divine, but to me all are just gorgeous.

COCOA ROSES
Cocoa Pods
Let’s see what cocoa does to roses. First, Nikola asks Rosa. “Have you ever been to the Thracian Tomb at night?” Kazanlak, home of the Thracian kings, is the site of the best-preserved Thracian tombs and Nikola works at the one that’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. Rosa gazes at Nikola’s red hair and blue eyes, traits that come straight from the Thracians, some...

My Dear Roses ... Part 2
Dusk has fallen in Kazanlak and since it is now the 1st of June, the Valley of Roses is just beginning to swell with the thousands of visitors who will come for the annual festival. Nikola makes his way to Rosa’s house and listens for her to call to the birds who stir at evening. Instead, he is startled when she speaks. “Who is it that hides in my garden by my window? Show yourself.” Without hesitation,...

My Dear Roses . . . Part 1
The rose that all are praising
Is not the rose for me.” — Thomas Haynes Bayly (1797–1839)
I’ve long wanted to do a sniff-fest through rose perfumes to find the one or ones I most adore. According to Wikipedia there are 100 species of rose, defined as members of the subgenre Rosa within the Rosaceae family. The two most used in perfumery are Rosa damascene below (cultivated mainly...

A Missed Oud
In my blog I hope to entertain you and myself with reviews of the grand to the peculiar in fragrance, trotting through entire houses or genres of perfume in sometimes off-beat fashion. No doubt Yasmin will show up, my captive Sassanian princess, now Sultana to her kingdom's conqueror, the handsome Arab, Sultan Walad. Their hijinks began over on BN in my Jasmine Sniff-Fest and continued in the thread, In Search of Most...
