Something with a sweet resinous raspberry

...I agree with Hot Couture and Un Rose Vermeille.

Mystery Guerlain: please help identify

...Maybe it was one of the Insolence flankers? They have a distinct violet note to them.

Comme des Garçons topic, also re. Pharrell

...I smelled it today. Woody, a tad spicy...not bad at all. Not for me but I thought it was well done.

Fragrances gifted to you, you don't love

...I agree, perfume is a very personal thing. I have a friend who I want to give perfume to for her birthday, but the kind of fragrance she wants I can't figure out what would fit the bill.If I received a perfume I didn't like, I would give it away to a coworker or family member. I always let them smell it first. If it was so-so, I would give it a few wears. Otherwise I would swap it.I have yet to receive a beautiful/gorgeous/out-of-this-world scent, but I would be happy to wear it.

...I was hoping for a sample program as well, Pipette. It looks like the brand is very expensive and they make custom bottles as well. Thair are of exclusivity makes me think that samples are not available. I only see some store-made ones made through LuckyScent; even so, they don't offer all of them.

What are you waiting for in the mail right now?

...I waited two weeks for a package from Haus of Gloi, an indie perfume and bath/body company. My apartment office never gave me the slip in my post box to tell me it had arrived over a week ago. So I went in and picked it up. Inside, I had a bar of soap in Litchi Milk tea, a small 2 oz jar of Mango Sticky Rice body emulsion (light lotion), White Blueberry perfume oil (5 mL), and White blueberry pumpkin butter (4 oz); all for $20 plus $5 shipping. Not too bad.I am also waiting for an order from Moonalisa (another indie company); 2 roll-on oils (5 mL) of Candied Lime and Cardamom and Black Currant Berry Tart.

PK Perfumes...

Re: Hello Fragrant Friends
...PaulKiler:I'm so amazed by some of your clearly shows what skin types do, or don't do, and what people come expecting when they read certain notes... It's *really* interesting to read your notes...I've read notes for years, and when I get a scent in the mail, many times it's not at all what I expected it to be like... I am so amazed that someone got "Bitter Coffee" from Cafe Diem..., especially when others get hardly any coffee, and they get more sweet rolls to it. hmmm...But I must confess that I don't hardly use any vanilla in my scents, *THE* most popular fragrance element used in the World...I feel like this Cadillac Commercial, (Which the clip cuts off the opening question:) "You know what's the world's favorite Ice Cream Flavor?""But if you're in the mood for something tasty, test drive one of these..."I find a sympathetic partner for eschewing filling our lives with Vanilla, in Cadillac, or at least for this one commercial... :-)Hope you all keep smellin' good! PKI don't mean offense for what I said. I wear saccharine sweet scents, so you can imagine my collection is full of fake vanilla sugary sweetness. :P It's a different kind of gourmand than what I am used to in the commercial world.

PK Perfumes...

...Silverfire:Black bitter coffee sounds awesome to me!Hayven:I won a bottle on Cafleurebon of Violet Chocolatier and received a couple of samples.Since I'm more of a fan of the sugary, gourmand, and designer types...this brand wasn't my cup of tea. Violet Chocolatier was so dry, and Cafe Diem smelled like black (bitter) coffee. I do have to say they are very well-made though; Mr. Kiler seems to use quality oils and essences to make his fragrances.I think it would work quite well for you. :) It is a bit more on the masculine side.

Is there a new market in Brazil?

...I think so. I have noticed a lot of new perfume releases are in South America first rather than in the U.S. I can't quote any specific perfumes at the moment.

The geography of scent - variations in perception

...Perhaps it was the air quality that made your and your wife's fragrances smell different. I only assume where you visited had cleaner air than where you usually live.Old persistent troll is old; but nonetheless, I must address. Pure water in itself IS a chemical. It is a perfect example of chemistry in nature. Sheesh! No myth there.

Do our perfume choices influence our other choices?

...Interesting observations, CC!For me, no not really. I like wearing gourmands, but they don't make me hungry or decide to bake some cookies. I guess if anything, it's the other way around and I bake a dessert while wanting to find a scent that captures that moment in time.

Jo Loves

...Dulcemio:Lostforest:Jo Loves has shipped free samples to me (earlier this year) and I live in the US. I just emailed and asked nicely, and they sent Orange Tulle, Gardenia and Pomelo.Interesting. Perhaps you can share the name of your contact with Hayven in a PM?I PMed her (or him), but no answer. :(

Cocoa-centric perfumes?

...PK perfumes has one called violet chocolatier. The cocoa note is very dry, but you have to like violets of course. The perfume is not as sweet as the notes sound.

The Significant Other - Perfumes?

Re: The Significant Other - Perfumes?
...Silverfire:For us, it's about a 60/40 split, or maybe a touch higher. I'm the one more into fragrances. However, she's more into food. So we've ended up expanding each other's sensory worlds and it's awesome. We do go to Sephora and Ulta together and there's no problem about buying fragrances and such. There's no opposition. If anything, there's some mutual enabling going on. LOL!Correct me if I'm wrong. Sometimes I feel like Ulta has a better selection of men's colognes than women's perfume.

Regulations for perfume on airplane?

...Ahh, so it's a domestic trip. Sorry for rambling on and on then.I agree with Pipette; try and find one spot to shop and find a little something special.I don't think you can buy duty-free fragrances unless you're going in or out of the country...right? At least that's how it is at O'Hare.

Your Perfume - How about a refill?

...Here it is, a source thingie at Ulta. I'm being nitpicky here, but I think the Alien juice should be in the purple container. :P

Your Perfume - How about a refill?

...Pipette:I feel the same way that I rarely finish a bottle. CARON Boutique has urns where certain perfumes can be bought originally from that urn ... don't know about refills.Bond No. 9 also has the refill policy, but one has to purchase new items to get a refill. To me it is not a "thing for the future" as more and more NEW scents get issued at a rapid speed. That doesn't make sense to me, what Bond no 9 does. Might as well buy a new bottle!
