Which perfume will be your next buy ?
by Sleuth | Perfumes & Brands
...Because personally I don't like it when there's nothing spontaneous about a gift, when you pick it for yourself. As for those three: Haven't smelled them but I would be most interested in the Burberry & Magnetism. My next buy will be an axe body spray, lol :)

Help with choosing perfume for my boyfriend
...Why does DHI smell 'old' to you? Some suggestions:If he likes iris and you like fresh scents:- "Dior Homme Sport (2012)" I think the ginger makes it special- "Eau d'Ikar" (test before buy, yellowish fresh iris scent)- "Allure Homme Édition Blanche" (Powdery but very pleasant lemon pie. Do you think it would suit him?)Warm winter scents:- "L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Eau Extrème" Many guys like this, but plenty of women don't.(bit more expensive than average)- "L'Homme Idéal" (not the most original but very very nice smelling!)- "Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme (2012)". Not bad, many people like it.- "Patchouly Noir - Osmo / Patchouli Noir - Osmo" - 66% loud patchouli, 33% amber.Only for people who like patchouli, but rather goodFresh scents:- "Chrome": a citrus/metallic and clean smelling scent for all ages- "Frosted": cheap, very fresh, quite good performance- "Roadster": Mint. I think Cartier scents are simple yet good quality.Miscelaneous:- "Eau des Baux": strange original mix of warm vanilla and fresh cypress.- Chopard "Noble Vetiver"- Chopard "Noble Cedar"The chopards seem to be quite good quality for a friendly price but I've never tested them- "Platinum Égoïste" : it smells a bit arrogant and professional, but a very good scentExpensive options:- "Dior Homme Parfum": some DHI and quite a lot of leather and booze- "Geranium pour Monsieur": like Platinum Égoïste, but on steroids and lots of mint- "AM by Hans Ubbink (2014)": DH sport with less iris and ginger but plenty of nuance

Mystery Guerlain: please help identify
by Sleuth | Perfume Discussions
...Conclusion:The mystery scent was indeed: "L'Heure Bleue" by Guerlain (EDP)But it seems on my skin it smells more like a flowers + amber mix and it didn't impress me as much as the paper strip. Thanks for all you help!

chanel pour monsieur successor
...Hi,Let's see:- You could try "Eau Sauvage" again, it has the herbal style from the 50's and 60's.- You could try "West Indian Lime". The style is similar but it's much simpler and also cheaper. West Indian Lime has no verbena but it has lime. In the dry down it has vetiver.- You could try Armani Eau pour Homme. This is also citrus in the old style because it has basil. The old bottle is better than the new bottle. The old one is discontinued, you can find it online.- You can try "Escale à Portofino" or "Escale à Parati". They are unisex colognes from a few years back, they were sold in the women's section. The style is also 'classic'. Escale à Portofino smells most similar I think, but Escale à Parati gets the best ratings.- Have you tested "Pour Monsieur Concentrée"? I think the performance is good. It has more vetiver.- I also like "Versense": a citrus + wood + vetiver + fruit mix. It smells 100% unisex but it is sold in the women's section.Which one competes for the throne? I think none of them, they are not perfect.Good luck!PS. Why do you like the vintage so much? What's wrong with the current Pour Monsieur?

The new face of Chanel No. 5 - Gisele - latest commercial
by Sleuth | Perfumes & Brands
...I get your point, the salty water makes no sense. But what I was trying to say is that it's not about the salty sea but about sport, which IMO is more important today than it was in the past. So they're showing Gisele doing sport to modernize the image of No 5.

The new face of Chanel No. 5 - Gisele - latest commercial
by Sleuth | Perfumes & Brands
...Do you think the surfing could have been added to modernize the image of No 5? "you can be a modern woman and smell classy in a traditional way at the same time" That sort of thing?Especially since the scent of No 5 is rather traditional/old fashioned, while the latest generation of potential buyers probably grew up with sweet girl's perfumes.(And I don't mean old fashioned in a bad way because I like No 5 a lot)

Does it smell like vanilla, musk, ... ?If you can answer those questions then we can help :)

Which masculine scents can be worn by a woman?
by Sleuth | Perfumes & Brands
...Esoada:Can a woman wear "Scorpio Rouge"?I don't know it but it seems to have citrus, woods and spices. I think, in general, women can wear 70% of the male fragrances and vice versa. Citrus, wood and spices are all neutral ingredients. What makes 'masculine' fragrances 'for men' is most often the absence of flowers and sweetness, so that's probably what you should expect.

Sniff Fest - Learning Chypre
...I've never smelled Tabu, but looking at the notes I don't think it's a chypre (=no dominant citrus, florals, moss, labdanum/leather).

...@Anahata: To me Intense He Wood is a better version of He Wood. It has clearly noticeable fir/fir balsam. But it isn't as good as Rocky Mountain Wood (or Potion).
