The Tragedy of Discontinued Fragrances
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...Digindirt:I've found a shop with tons of discontinued fragrances. Unlucky for me, now that they are on to what is valuable, they have tripled the prices. The owner told me that I tipped them off based on the things I was interested in. When I came back to purchase more of what I wanted, the prices had skyrocketed! They have also started an Amazon shop where, to my surprise, they are selling things at astronomical prices!Ohhh! I better be less enthusiastic the next time I visit the shop. I'm doing to much winking, smiling and saying "Ahhhh! So Wonderful!" all the time. I won't be able to get them without him raising the prices soon!

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Flavorite | Parfumo Community
I'm a Dissident. Another Tale of Censorship...
...I hesitated for awhile to share the sordid details of my departure from 'the site that shall not be named' as we call it at my house. Since I enjoy a good rumble for about the first 15 seconds, then I can't be bothered with petty revenge schemes and back-n-forth arguments, unless I'm watching Chef Gordon Ramsay on "Kitchen Nightmares". I always try to state my case clearly, then I move onto better things. In brief: I mentioned in the forum that an online shop for Niche fragrances, I'd recently purchased from sold me defective merchandise and then did not responding to repeated Customer Service Inquiries for several months...and unbenounced to me the Customer Service Rep., let's call her "DeKim", instead of doing her job properly first accused www.luckyscent.com (which I have shopped from for about 10 years) of sending mismarked decants-Luckyscent responded in about 48 hours by sending me new free samples with free shipping to compare them- Nope, no problem on their end and fyi I'm not affiliated but- totally professional outstanding customer service. Meanwhile "Kimya" from Rescue Spa was busy trolling the F-site forum and complaining to the Admins. that I was in fact the problem. "Off with Her Head!" said the Grand Wizard. Eventually I was able to contact the Parfumer directly- (Keiko is a graceful, whip-smart and straightforward Lady, FYI) and she admitted that I was correct, there had been a manufacturing level screw-up on my bottle. It took about 3 seconds for the Parfumer to say "ooops!" and then say "check back with us in a few months when we should have the issue resolved. Thank you for shopping with us". And all was well- except for the tacky small-minded behavior of the intermediate Seller's Customer Service Rep,"Kimbalina" was busy bad-mouthing me to and with the big Z over at F-site...it was as if they were in collusion with kick backs...perhaps I don't understand the bigger picture of backroom deals and back scratching. But on the planet where I live friends can worn other friends about shops where the deals & service are bad, (no vile language was used) without getting removed from the friends group. Communities clearly state the rules and if the rules are "Only say nice things and never tell the truth about potential sponsors", so be it...that's cool. For the full scoop you can read the details on my Amazon.com "Niblet" Review for Osmanthus by Keiko Mecheri purchased through Rittenhouse Rescue Spa (Now changed to Rescue Spa Philadelphia). What really irked me about the whole thing was I had made some really lovely friends trading and I had written 50 or so really good reviews, I felt I was a positive contributor, but the reviews were removed...who does that help? Anyway, onward and upward!

Molton Brown
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...TJ MAXX - Where I live that's it for the occasional deal. I think they didn't know what Molton Brown was or where it should go so they just through several bottles on the clearance shelf for 15 bucks each. That is how I got a full size 3.3 oz bottle of Penhaligon's Violetta for 30 bucks once. They just don't really know what's going on...

The Tragedy of Discontinued Fragrances
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...Please excuse me if this topic is already in existence. But One thing that really vexes me about the beautiful fantasy world of fragrance we live in is those really outstanding discontinue fragrances. I am sure we all have one or two that haunt our dreams. I personally live in a state of near-constant high anxiety that the top five coveted fragrances on my wish list are about to be discontinued at any moment. Yes, I do have non-trivial real life problems, too, but somehow... discontinued fragrances is what keeps me up at night. I have a local old-fashioned perfume shop and they seem to have a number of NIB discontinued gems that- they don't realize are so valuable, because they are the same price they've been for 10 years. I read people pining over on here such as Emporio Armani White, Christian Dior Eau Svelte, Fidji, etc. I bet other people have access to discontinued favorites of other members and I wish there was a system in place to alert us on discontinued fragrances or about to be discontinued and when they are spotted out in the shops/ airports/etc. Anyone have any thoughts on this issue?

Molton Brown
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...I have tried the "Black Pepper" recharging fragrance and I almost bought it even though it is on the masculine side, it is soooo fresh and warming. Rich, spice, to my nose not overkill on the black pepper, but also a decent amount of ginger, coriander, bergamot and some oakmoss and other good stuff. Other than that I have only tried the "Intoxicating Davana" fragrance and I returned it immediately, it was a headache-inducing very loud and screechy white flower on me. I keep seeing the "Bracing Silver Birch" cologne on sale deeply discounted, but no tester- I might just pick it up since I love nutmeg, cardamom and jasmine. Goodluck!

Fragrances suitable for sports
by Flavorite | Perfume Recommendations
...I like to wear "Christian Dior Eau Svelte"- very light and it says it is supposed to have a toning effect on the skin...I need all the help I can get! Sometimes I wear CLEAN "Warm Cotton" or "Amazing Grace" if I just want to smell like laundry, but I really don't wear anything too interesting to the gym ever since I wore a Sugary/Waffle scented body spray (this was about 15 years ago) and some crazy stalker guy kept following me around and trying to whisper sweet nothings in my ear while I was doing bench presses. So Creepy!

Samples from Houses - best experience
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...1.Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab- even the wrapping on the package was worth saving, it was like getting a secret clandestine package from a pirate ship. Service was also prompt and easy.2. Fragrances of Ireland- Fast service and they have a deal where if you later decide to purchase from them they deduct the price of the samples ($2 ea.) They also followed up by email twice to ensure everything was received as ordered and then for feedback on the samples. They really care what the customers think, shocking!

How to remove perfume?
by Flavorite | Perfume Discussions
...I think those that have suggested an oil based substance are definitely on to something! I didn't have any mineral oil handy but I tried some safflower oil and unscented sesame oil...followed by soap and water- it worked great- I had something with monster sillage on from Lubin- came right off completely. I am sure when I pull out the bottle of cooking oil from my purse at the luxury fragrance counter I will have some explaining to do! Hehehe.

How to remove perfume?
by Flavorite | Perfume Discussions
...Sherapop:The reason why I prefer a bath is because all of the other remedies require one to pass through yet another unwanted scent stage. I prefer to begin anew with a clean skin slate! :wink:Yes, indeed. This is the truth. I am wrestling with what to do when a hot bath is 3 hours away as I am planning an all day trip to the niche perfume boutique & Department store which are 3 hours from my house in a couple of weeks for my Birthday. It's quite a conundrum.

Parfumo/Fragrantica
by Flavorite | Parfumo Community
...So far, I think this website is a collection of the best attributes of all of the other fragrance sites I've ever visited. I love the user friendly manner in which it is organized and the professional way the database and reviews are being compiled. The webpage design is clean and uncluttered. Also, the search options are quite logical and give the serious perfumistorians (not sure if this is a word actually) several different ways to access information about fragrances. I like the fact that there is very little squabbling or gossip on the forum and people seem to be able to give their honest opinions while still remaining polite. It is very refreshing also to not see any extraneous advertising, SPAM, politics, personal attacks or the same silly topic about "how to drop somebody's panties with the right cologne". I love it here and I will recommend this site to anyone seriously interested in learning about fragrances, talking to others with the same interests and reading reviews.

Tom Ford's Champaca Absolute Champaca Absolute - Tom Ford
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...Flaconneur:"Champaca Absolute" by Tom Ford? I absolutely hated it. Stale, uninteresting and a complete scrubber IMOA.Interesting! I get the feeling it is a very polarizing scent- either love or totally hated. I smelled it recently at the Tom Ford counter, but I had 3-4 other fragrances on so I can't remember whether I liked it or not. I found most TF Private blends rather linear. Strong, smooth but linear.
